Greek Tragedy

So, River Falls gets a transfer named Steve Farmer.  Is he related to the Terry Farmer that went to Stout?  Just curious and bored.

Update from the  UWW- Edgewood scrimmage from 11/10/07
UWW came out looking like they were up too late the night before in the 1st 20 min session but only lost by 3 and woke up for the 2nd 20 min session and won by 7. Rob Perry looked like his old self but had some foul problems. King played good defense but his offense needs some work. Biggest problem is teammates getting the ball inside to both King and Mitchell. Veron looked good and rebounded well but they started him at center and that seemed a little different. The two new guards are easing into the mix and will be a good addition. For the first session Miller went 8 deep with Mitchell, Kolinske and Koski each getting some minutes. Biggest problem was defending against the 3 and finding someone on UWW that can shoot the 3 consistently.

My projected starters:

Matt Goodwin      G
Myles McKay        G
Rob Perry            F
Kory Vernon        F/C
Josh King             F/C

The starting point guard, sorry I'm not up on all the names yet but he's the transfer from the community college, did not play.

umm - no.   Steve Farmer is a white kid from a Minneapolis suburb - Fridley.  ;)

I'm Asian and my brother is white.  ;D ???

Anyway, I didn't see any pictures or anything like that, just looking at the last name.

Thanks.  :P

While we're on the subject of rosters, I see there isn't any Lamar Burton Norman on the Superior roster, or Brandon Ely for that matter.

How's the new transfer, 7'1" Jesse Piehl?

Since Dick Cheney and Barak Obama are related (albeit distantly), be careful of assumptions! ;D

# 3 (Matt Goodwin from Pacific) and #15 (Myles McKay G/F from UWM) both started as guards. McKay hurt his knee in the 2nd period, he was iced and limping after the scrimmage. They look to be the guards from what I've seen. I'm thinking you may be talking about #5 (Tyson Kingsby from Hamilton JC). I think he started in place of Vernon at Elmhurst but I don't see that being the case based on Kory's experience and the way he played last year. The only other transfer is #24 (Cory Brezovar from UW-Parkside). Maybe Kingdby will be a guard and McKay will be a forward. then again, Miller started Vernon at center on Saturday, maybe King will be out of the picture. I don't know what Miller will do but we will find out Friday Night.

Shows me for me not posting the smart aleck comment I was going to originally post which was – "Unless Steve & Terry Farmer are estranged, adoptive brothers or cousins, I don't believe they're related."  ::) ;D

Ypsi - without asking either player,  I think my conclusion is fairly solid. I've seen Terry Farmer of UW- Stout play in the past, & this weekend I saw Steve Farmer of UW-River Falls play.  Terry Farmer is a young black man from the Milwaukee area WISCONSIN, & Steve Farmer is a young white male from the Minneapolis- St. Paul MINNESOTA metro area.

Better?  Must be a slow news day on the hoops boards.  ;)

I don't think Miller knows what he's going to do! lol   ;D :D  Miller started 10 different players last year, and that doesn't count Rob Perry.  I realize some has to do with injury, but he seemed to flipflop Price and Riley more than, well, you get the picture!  ;)

I know basically none of you know anything about soccer, but Liverpool F.C. used to have a coach that changed lineups so often that the press and fans nicknamed him the "Tinkerman"... :P

Nice!  ;D  Swampgoon and I have a saying that, "[so and so] scored as many points as a dead guy" or "I scored as many as [so and so] and I don't even play!"  :-\

Yeah, but you're not from Fridley, Minnesota, so it doesn't count.

They're not from Fridley, either.

I had a good friend at North Park who was from Fridley, Minnesota. Have I mentioned that I like the name "Fridley"? It's fun to say. Fridley. Fridley, Fridley, Fridley.

It's like an English butler's name, or something. "Fridley, I believe that I'll have my brandy in the conservatory this evening." "Very good, sir. And will your racially-alternative brother be joining you, sir?" "Yes, Fridley, he will, so be sure to bring out the good cigars." "As you wish, sir."

Greg,

We've heard that North Park has added some new faces and has a pretty decent looking team this year.  Will you be coming up for their games this weekend?

Pioneer Hoops Fan

Attened the UWP and Augustana scrimmage on Saturday.  Pioneers played well.  Beat Auggie by 10 in the first 20 but lost the second 20 by one.  Pioneer young guys played well.  Jeff Skemp was able to find the open cutters when the defense was doubling down on him.  Pioneer played this scrimmage like it was the most important game on the schedule (or not really on the schedule), which with a young team the have to be able to do day in and day out.  IMO from what I saw on Saturday, the Pioneers are better than Auggie.  Platteville struggled a little on the defensive end rebounding missed Auggie shots.  If Platteville had done a better job securing missed shots, first half was a blow out and Platteville wins the second half.  Gotta have effort all the time in order to win in this league.

I'll get a chance to see Edgewood twice this weekend since they will be in Platteville for the Pioneer Tip off Tourney.  I saw them play a couple of times last year, and they will be very good.

When oh when is Pat Miller going to post his roster on the UWW website?????  I don't know the names of all 100 players going out for the team :)

And I'm not an insider :)

Oh well, guess I'll just have to sneek into the games.  I hope my hawk card still works.  It's going to be crazy with football playoffs, basketball, and all the other things going on at Williams Center.

Go HAWKS!

I don't know when Miller will post but here's my guess:

Vernon, Mitchell, Matt Goodwin, Myles McKay, Koski,
King, Perry, Simon, Kolinski, Groth, Dwyer, Hunter,
Cory Brezovar, Tom Anderson, Phil Negri, Ryan Stauss,
Mike Ntambi, Jon Witte, Tyson Kingsby & Travis Handy.

That is if he cuts anyone....he may do the red (oops grey) shirt for a couple of them. By my count, he had 19 dressed and 2 in street clothes last Saturday.
