I "voted" for 21-25 games this year because I didn't want to look like a complete loser! lol.  Fortunately for me, three others took the 25+ route!  Who are ya??

I'm one of them.  I attended 58 games last season (including postseason), and expect to match or better that total this year during the regular season.  Woo-hoo!

If you make it stop and say hello.  Hopefully our two teams will meet on Saturday night.

If they don't, one of the two of us will be very, very upset. ;)

OS, I'm headed to Iowa this weekend.  My alma mater managed to get into the  football tournament with a 6-4 record and will be executed by Central College in Pella Saturday afternoon.   :o

One year between refing, timing, spectating and including high school and college I took in almost 90 games.

My wife told me that if I ever did it again she'd divorce me.  :D

Your two teams could meet and still be very, very upset, though.  ;D

If that happens, Tom, be sure to carry an extra-strength umbrella when you go outside, because pigs will definitely be flying overhead. ;)

So the NWC and WIAC will hopefully meet again over Thanksgiving weekend.  Would anyone mind filling me in a little bit about UW Stout, how are they looking this year?  UPS has some real athletic guys, hopefully they can match up against the trees of the WIAC.  Anyway, as long as they aren't like Stevens Point circa 2004 or  2005 I will feel better about the Logger's chances!

Stout survivor

i am looking forward to that matchup as well.  While i have not seen them this year yet there are a couple things that you might like to know.  Stout is a great place to play, over Thanksgiving we will have to see how many students are around but it is fun to play there.  Stout has done well bringing some kids in to fill in the roster with athletic players.  While the height is not what some other teams in WIAC have they do have a couple guys who know what to do down low and get those points in the paint.

Stout may have the most potential to pull off "upsets" as the year goes on which has me excited to see them grow plus their schedual will give them challanges including Pugent Sound should that happen.  Bemidgi was a young team with a first year coach last year and should make for an interesting matchup as well.

Thanks for the info Survivor...I am looking forward to see how UPS does over  in the Midwest.  Can't look past Bemidgi but it would be fun to see the Loggers get a crack at a WIAC team again!

Be careful what you wish for ;D  I do believe it would be a region game making it even a little more interesting later in the season

that is a good point.  But I don't see the NWC being a powerful enough conference to get an at large bid yet.  I think it is improving however.  And the only way to do that is to play tough teams from tough conferences.  Thats why I am excited that UPS was willing to go play Stout.  If UPS doesn't get expereince and tough competition against worthy opponents then how can UPS ever expect to beat them on their home court during the nation tourney???

Stout survivor

Very true and the WIAC knows a little about not getting at large bid (oshgosh, lax anyone)

I feel the same way.  It is early in the year but it can have a big impact.  if Stout should beat Pugent then come in second in the WIAC while Pugent wins the NWC it can help a lot (I hope).  It is the same as Point and Augustana matchup.  I was pleased to see that UPS is coming to wisconsin and would hope to see more of these early season games in the future.

this does not change the fact that i can not see the game in person as i am stuck on the east coast.  thank goodness for the games being on the internet THANK YOU STOUT FOR THAT.

Don't be misled; strength of conference is not a factor in at-large selection.  In fact, it tends to work against you, since teams in strong conferences (like the WIAC) tend to beat each other up, thereby depressing their in-region records.  It's probably better for Pool C consideration to be one of two very good programs in otherwise very weak conferences.  Exhibit A is the NCAC, where Wooster and Wittenberg routinely pile up 12-14 in-region wins in conference games.  Nobody who knows what they are talking about would suggest that the NCAC is a "powerful conference" (academically, yes, and in swimming, but not hoops), but our conference frequently gets a Pool C bid for the runner-up.

I do understand that rank of conference has nothing to do with an at-large.  But your examples of Wooster and Wittenberg are good examples of schools that have a more nation prominence.  Wittenberg was in the title game 2 years ago and Wooster was in the final 4 this past year.  They are often in the mix during the post-season, proving that they are worthy for at-large bids.  I was mearly implying that for UPS to move from a west coast team to a national team, they need to branch out and play some national level competition.  In my opinion it seems worthwhile to branch out...playing UC Santa Cruz, the SCIAC, and NAIA schools can only you so far.  Unfortunately, it probably has more to do with budgets then who the school/coaches actually want to play
