QuoteWhere was it located?

Well, you have to understand that memory gets clouded after beers and years, but it may have been on Third just off Main. Or not. If it was a Thursday night and I was in Point, I could probably walk there from campus or off, but, you know...Do you think Thursday was named after 'thirst'?

Gents,

The Big Moon was located on the square (2nd street exactly) and went by the wayside about 15 years ago.  It was purchased by a former UWSP football player who also owned a couple of places on Water St. in Milwaukee.  It's was named JL's and I believe was just recently renamed although I'm not sure of the new name.  This type of history doesn't come cheap, I forfeited many brain cells in that place.

Generally they get posted on Tuesday afternoon.  Sometimes earlier or later.  REally depends on when the voters get their votes to Mr. Coleman.

Greek Tragedy

Any Whitewater fans heading up to Waukesha tonight for the game against Carroll?  See ya there and say hi to me if you want.

WARHAWKS easily handle Carroll College 70-51.  Leading 10-7 with about five minutes gone WHITEWATER held Carroll scoreless for about five and half minutes while running 17 straight themselves.  After that the lead was never less than thirteen points and ballooned to twentysix, 66-40, with about six minutes remaining in the game.  WHITEWATER shot 56% from the floor and held Carroll to a cool 34%.

Rob King led the way.  The blue-collar workman, who seems to have a knack for being in the right place, led the team in scoring with sixteen points and led both teams with a career high fourteen rebounds as the WARHAWKS dominated the boards 42-25.   Matt Goodwin and Rob Perry each added 14 points.

Greek Tragedy

Went to the game tonight in Waukesha to see Whitewater spank Carroll.

You can read the game story and look at the boxscore all you want, I'll just give you some "outside the box" view.

Game Story and boxscore link

Whitewater, as predicted, is very athletic and quick.  They do have some tall players like King, among others, that play well...and of course, Rob Perry looks as good as ever.  WW dominated Carroll, basically from beginning to end.

Things were sloppy, and I was surprised that WW (21) had more TOs than CC (17).

As is usually the case, IMO, WW has a lot of individual talent and they played a lot of 1 vs 1, usually using their quickness to beat the defender.  They dominated the boards, while Carroll seemed just clueless, throwing up ridiculous shots and not even boxing out and making an effort to rebound.

I don't know if Carroll is real bad or if they have just played two real good WIAC teams.

Anyway, a side note...though BW probably knows, guess who I saw manning the bench for Whitewater?  Tamaris Relerford!!!  Apparently he's a graduate assistant!  Pretty cool.  Didn't get a chance to say hi, he looked busy! lol.

BTW Badger, WW is YOUR team, get the names of your players right! lol...it's JOSH King.

It's on to St. Norb's tomorrow to watch Oshkosh's opener!  Mr. DT, Cubs, Titansrus, any of you going up?

Falcons play one good half, one lousy half--the worst I remember in years-- to lose to UST 79-67. Score tied 35-35 at half. No RF starters in  double  figures. Brady Hannigan, freshman, led scoring with 14.

Baker, Nickolai, Viau led Tommies w/14, 12, 11 respectively. Tommies shot 63 per cent both halves.

The only bright spot: Falcons appear to have three freshmen who can contribute:  Guerin (6'8"), Whittenberger (6'8"), Hannigan (6"4").

How about the 22-5 run... ive ver seen a team play so terribly for a stretch.

Do u think CD was in the dog house after those back-to-back TOs or what the deal was?

La Crosse beat Viterbo in a fairly close game.  However, they led for a good part of the game and seemed to me to be in charge.  Billy Kegler played a solid game, but nothing like the 25 point, 9 rebound game he had against Lakeland.

Still hard to tell how good they are.  I, for one, am pleasantly surprised at Kegler.  The Viterbo rivalry is starting to look a little one sided.

What i meant by that was Courtney Davis was on the bench for most of the first half in foul trouble.  Then he came out to start the 2nd half, had back-to-back TOs and never saw the floor again.

Fredfalcon- got any input or inside info?

That's why he's in there to be sure.

The kid can stroke the 3's.

Duh, I hate it when I do stupid things like that.

After I suggested you consider Goodwin, Perry and possibly McKay I got to thinking that I probably should have suggested Josh (aka: Rob) King as well.  He understands the game, plays hard all the time, anticipates well and has a knack for being where the ball is.  Without meaning any disrespect to him he strikes me as your classical overachiever.  He isn't flashy, he isn't particularly quick but he just has a way of getting things done.  We started to see some it last year.  He's worked hard on his game this offseason, and I think he could have a very good season.  He's going to help us much more than I would have thought possible if you had asked me four years ago.  He's a good kid too.

Stout did some nice things vs winona and have some shooters to make and already high tempo offense a little more dangerous.  Their strength is at the guard  spot with Enerson-Mathews, Webb, Mason and Buchholtz who all shoot and can take it to the hole as well.

As with any offense that likes to push it up the floor turnovers may be stouts X stat this year.  If they can hang on to the ball they should be a tough matchup for the WIAC this season.

Since BW is talking about good kids aside from Stout's guy's there are a couple of players that I have gottento know a little over the past couple years that I will be cheering for. Skemp, Rob Perry and Steve Hicklin are all guys that I have spent time talking to before or after games and Hicklin is has ties to my GF.  Fehrenbach is a guy who has killed us in the past and it will be interesting to see how he does now that Werner is gone.

May favorite guys while I was playing .... Werner, Melvin Williams, Skooblie , Cobb, Crawford, Gibson, Skemp and Jason Larson.
