Greek Tragedy

As I have stated in the past, it's Oskosh's starting lineup or bust.  No offense to Ryan Johnsen or Luke Miller, but they really don't do much except tread water while the likes of DSA or Schrimpf etc are getting a rest.  Three of the starters average over 33 minutes a game with DSA at 29 (maybe because of foul trouble?) and Schrimpf at 26.  It's a long season and they need to hold up or have someone else from the bench step up.  I'm pleasantly surprised with Matt Miller's play and his scoring takes some load off of DJ Marsh.  You get Marsh or DSA into foul trouble and I think Oshkosh becomes a different team because they lose their "go to" guy and their inside presence.  JJ (Jordan Johnson) is an underrated inside guy that can really crash the boards but doesn't have that extra offensive gear that DSA has.  I think everyone has been impressed and surprised by Oshkosh (picked to finish 5th?).  I think they'll be there at the end with the likes of Platteville, Point and Whitewater.  I'm still saying the WIAC champ has 4 conference losses.

I hope all you Pointer slackers make it over to Ripon tomorrow.  I think we're supposed to get a little snow, but it's not like you're driving to Whitewater in a blizzard!  Hope to see you there.

BTW, they are playing the La Crosse/Point game on FSN right now!

Oshkosh was picked to finish 4th, and I think they will do better than that.

We'll find out more about this team tomorrow night against #9 Augustana.

You can listen to the game at www.uwosh.edu/wrst. I'll be on the call. Game starts at 7pm.

Any chance you can change that game to 4 pm so I can go to that game and then head over to Ripon for the Point game at 7 pm?  ::) ;D

I asked the Point and Ripon reps, but they didn't want to change the game time because they are all getting together for a pre-game meal and to watch Whitewater lose a third consecutive national championship game to Mount Union (that starts at 3 pm).

Coach's 'newsletter'...

How do I get one of those "newsletters"?

If you were a Texas A&M fan you'd simply write a check to Dennis Franchione for $1,200.

For Superior, you probably just e-mail the coach and ask to be put on the list.

Ask them how Point and Ripon did in the playoffs?  ;)

Oshkosh is getting killed at halftime 34-14 against Augustana.

From what it sounds like, Titans playing poor fundamental basketball. Oh yeah, and DJ Marsh has 3 fouls and 0 points. Only DSA, Matt Miller, and Jordan Johnson have scored. Titans have 12 turnovers on the half.

Vikings not shooting the greatest, only 39.4%, but they've spread the wealth. Brett Wessels leads the way with 10 points. Chandler Collins has a great 1st half: 9 points, 8 rebounds.

To start the 2nd half, Marsh gets the bucket and a foul, so we'll see if the Titans can respond.
Don't give up. Don't ever give up.

Augustana beats Oshkosh 59-54. DSA and DJ Marsh foul out. Marsh only scores 5 points.

After being down 20 at half, Titans had a chance to take the lead with under a minute left but misses and Vikings made FT's to seal it.

Titans first loss is a tough one, but they have to be happy with the 2nd half comeback.

I can't wait to head to Quandt Jan 5th for Titans-Pointers.

Supers struggle in the first 3/4 of the game until just shortly after I left. Apparently, they pulled it together and took a semi-respectable win over Martin Luther, a team I thought I heard was 1-6 in its own conference. A loss would have been a smart slap in the face. UWSUPs struggled inside against the 6'9" Schultz, but Schultz did not struggle inside against Superior. Byrnes was all about threes. Dwight Hill is still my hero.
