Also, I'm 6'7" and I didn't like sharing seats...

So now that Oshkosh beat Point anyone want to wager when the next time we will see BBGUY around next?  Looking back at his old posts, I am guessing it will be the next time UWO loses.  He sure has an axe to grind with TVD....  I'm sure that even though they just beat the #3 team in the nation on their home court that it isn't considered a "big game" for some reason or another. ::)

You're not 5'3" in both directions, are you? :-[ That can be a problem

At least at one home game this year that was NOT a doubleheader, the Superior men's basketball team showed up to watch the women's team play. They were very vocal, very animated, and at one point the rowdies that always sit at one end of the short bleachers moved down to sit with the team, and the whole group partcipated in a pretty entertaining cheer.

I think coaches do a disservice to the other team when they don't require their teams to attend at least a half (as in first or second half) of their counterparts' games, when possible. I'm pretty certain the Superior women's team got a boost out of the men's support, and the rest of the crowd got a kick out of the men's team's participation.

I wouldn't be surprised if Buchanan didn't require the men to go to the game(s); if he's practicing and instilling discipline, it's not a bad idea.

There's nothing wrong with showing some respect for the other team; as a matter of fact, in the case where a team loses, there might be a sense that at least the other team was there and showing support. That goes a long way to making road trips together easier to take. Having the other team not be there may add insult to injury.

Having said all that and having read the Kastern post before I finish this, I understand the issue of practice time, eating, and I certainly can commiserate with the movie thing. That wasn't a problem with my insider on her team; she slept both ways.

And about height: those seats in public transportation--bus, plane, whatever--are built for people 5'7" and smaller; those of us over 5'7" are chewing on our knees, too.

This post just got you a Karma point from me.  Isn't that a kick?  And notice I don't have a big white space at the bottom of my post :)  (Women's board joke)

Also, when Pam Ruder was still coaching in Oshkosh, the women's and men's teams took seperate bus's.
You may want to double-check your sources on that one......  I asked about that, and I was told that UWO had wanted to do that, but they were not allowed to by the WIAC due to the fact that it would be unfair because some schools could afford it, while others couldn't.

I know that at Stout, it is mandated, (I think from the league), that they travel together

Cody,

Couldn't agree more!!!!!!!!  And forget it when the girls game would go to overtime!!  The only place where there was no affect was UWSP, Obviously with the seperate gym's.

Women's game. High school girls and boys; college men and women. Maybe we can't convince Jake, but by God, we can steer you young snots in the right direction.

UWEC 85, Finlandia 73, final...
buf will be along to fill in the details!  ;)

Interesting note in the EC Leader-Telegram today.

UWEC officials tried to move up the women's/men's doubleheader this weekend, vs. Whitewater, from 3 and 5, to 11 and 1, to avoid a conflict with the Packers/Seattle playoff game, which starts at 3:30... The Warhawks teams will be in town on Friday night...

WIAC Commissioner Gary Karner denied the request, saying he didn't want to set a precedent in moving games around an external event, and feels it isn't in the best interest of the conference to shuffle games around a Packer game...

Zorn will be equipped with TV monitors in the hallway for the Blugold faithful who want in-game updates on the score...

Karner made a mistake, in my opinion.  When I was a wee-young Blugold in '04 they had a game the night of the "Atlanta in Lambeau" debacle.  No one went to the game.  Attendence will probably be pretty minimal in the WIAC this weekend for the 3 and 5 games.

Yep, I agree.  Give EC credit for at least trying.  I see very poor attendance at our Stout/LX games with the 3/5 time slot.

Jake.  How quickly you forget your old friends.  AT SP, these poor, old bones have to hustle (with our epuipment) from one gym to the other.

You still have a full half hour before the tipoff of the next game (though YOU don't actually have a half hour! lol)...how slow are you?  Just run down the hall!  :D

Actually, I totally forgot about tonights game.  I was just watching the sports on the news and saw the highlights.  However, I probably wouldn't have gone anyway due to the fact that the BCS game was tonight and that I am sick of seeing Finlandia play  :D

Anyway, I hope that this years tougher non-conference schedule helps prepare the Golds better for the conference games.  In the past, I have felt that EC's weak non-conference games have really hindered their conference play.  When your used to beating up bad teams, I feel that a lot of times that gives out a false sense of confidence.   You become accustomed to winning handily and then have to play a bunch of good teams all of a sudden, kind of surprises some of the players.

Yeah, that Finlandia team...you only played them three times this year! lol  ::) ;D :D ;)

I'll give you Aurora and Grinnell.  Don't know anything about Jamestown, and Marian is borderline (though they are tops with Aurora in the NathCon)
