Wow. Interesting to see the Superior-Whitewater game from the Whitewater broadcasters' points of view.

I was sitting behind the bench, and I didn't hear anyone from the bench calling for anyone to "get" anyone else. Buchanan coached just about the way he always does, pretty quietly. He does his talking during time outs. I'm assuming he may have questioned a ref's parentage or eyesight, but it must have been a pretty quiet exchange.

Guess I'll have to watch the IFan archive to see what the guys across the court saw...and heard.

Miller made the following comments:

"circus atmosphere"

"they were flat out trying to hurt our guys"

"dangerous situation---with coaches yelling out just knock them down"

"very unsportsman like play"

I doubt Miller would go on the radio after a 30 point win and vent for no reason. My guess is that Miller could hear from where he was standing.
Buchanan's name was never mentioned. However he is responsible for his bench.

Don't know what the announcers heard --they may have been commenting on Millers remarks--when they said they were disapointed to hear remarks coming from Sup's bench.

Go ahead---see if the Ifan will help to see what the guys across the court saw.....and heard!

Mr. Downtown

Whitewater better hope that Superior doesn't face them in the conference Tourney at season's end, or someone might get hurt after those comments.

Bad blood between Whitewater and Superior, who would have figured?  ??? :o

HMMMMM, lets see +31 in their gym without Josh King and going 28-48 at the line. I think we can stand 1 more game vrs that freshman intermural team.  ;) ;) ;)

The LaCrosse coach was suspended for the River Falls game because he'd been ejected the game before.   So the precendent has been established and it's likely Superior's coach will be as well.

I don't think there is bad blood between the two programs.  I think we just happened to be the opponent when Superior hit the melt down point.   It could have just as easily been any other program.

Jason Price is the last player WHITEWATER needs on their roster.

Mr. Downtown

I figured as much that they don't miss Jason Price.

Whitewater is 2-0 without Perry this year.

2-0, against Stout and Superior. They have La Crosse and Eau Claire at home, then they go to Stout.

The Warhawks should be 10-2 in the WIAC before they head to Bo Ryan Court. I think they will find a way to deal without Perry, and if they have to, Josh King.

Ah, Miller made the comments. No, he wasn't very happy from the get-go. The students directly across from him were mocking him throughout, and he started complaining to the refs and the stat officials as soon as the game started. As you might guess, that just intensified the reaction. OMG! Who'da thunk!

So, we don't want raucous crowds? I thought that kind of thing was applauded in these boards--Zorn and Quandt crowds just sit on their hands except for brief outbreaks of polite applause, right?

Note to self: Miller doesn't like noise. Gotta keep that in mind for next year.

I would suggest that if there wasn't bad blood before, there could be now.  Those are some pretty brutal comments from a coach (Miller) who is not exactly known for his "shrinking violet" behavior on the sideline himself.  I have watched Buchanan coach several times and have only seen the behavior Phoenix Rising has noticed.  I have been very impressed with his recruiting and his drive to make the program better.  The few times I have spoken to him I got the impression that he is going to be a nice addition to the WIAC conference.   "They looked and played like they were being coached, like little children."  Now I wasn't at that game, but that sounds a tad harsh to me.

janesvillebb

4 techs and 2 ejections including the coach and calling that behavior childish is harsh huh?''

ok then what is it, lack of self control?  or what?

and phoenix lets get it right-- 1st you are checking your IFan--now Miller just doesn't like noise huh. EXCUSE EXCUSE

Sup fans were in violation of ncaa rules--lets talk about the sign held under WWs hoop during warmups or the banging of the trash can during play or the 3 or 4 times the game was stopped by the officials to warn the crowd thru the PA.  But wait it must be bebause Miller doesn't like noise right?
I like the students being invovled. Just stay within the rules--- or get ejected --and we know what Buchanan and Hill decided to do.

Actually, I  was referring back to your earlier post where you said, "Miller made the following comments", one of which was that there was a circus-like atmosphere.

IFan doesn't have the 1/26 game up yet; 1/23 is the latest. Since the archives are on an open site, we can all look once the game is up.

The only comments I'll make on the sign are these: the prediction was obviously way off and the spelling was pretty bad.

I'm really having a hard time figuring out what you're so angry about, Janesvillebb. Your team whupped the snot out of mine; my team was the focus of the technicals and the ejections; Whitewater is riding the crest of a pretty successful wave. What's to be cranky about?

Quit being a homer.....I have heard and seen worse at HIGH SCHOOL GAMES!  I think I can speak for most on this board and say that Buchanan is MUCH more even keeled than Miller.  Aside from Combs, I can't think of a bigger spaz in the conference.  I am totally unbiased on the issue being from EC.  I just call it like I see it.....Buchanan has done wonders in his short tenure at Superior.

Actually...I would make the case that it is how Zorn and Quandt are. Just that when a big play does happen it gets VERY LOUD.

Hey, if Superior actually can get the students involved, that's terrific. I'm sorry, but as for the WIAC is concerned as a whole (perhaps the exception of Whitewater), Student Fans are pretty weak.

Shoot, Oshkosh now has the pep band AND a new mascot (which I think he looks pretty sweet).

I think the majority of Wisconsin students that care about basketball, and attend a WIAC school, are more concerned with how the Badgers are doing then what their school is doing.

Perhaps those peoples, need reminders that if they want to root for the Badgers, they should attend school in Madison.

Welcome back, Stoutguy! Thanks for bringing back some warm weather. Sounds like we may have to send you back for a suitcase full by the end of the week.

No they're not.  They lost to Platteville last Wednesday.

Miller is a "spaz."  ROTFLMAO, too frickin' funny.  That's the kind of language unbiased individuals would use to describe another person....right.

Mythical, you've seen worse in high school games?   So, tell me when's the last time you saw four technicals called in a single game?  I watch 30-40 high school games a season and I can't recall EVER seeing a game in which four technicals were called.  The fact all four were whistled against Superior suggests that either the referees were incredibly biased or Superior was the problem.

Miller doesn't have a problem with noise.  He has a problem with artificial noise makers which are specifically prohibited.  And fans who are allowed to crowd the court line and scream at his players are a bit of a concern as well.   As far as complaining about it.  If he didn't stick up for his players he wouldn't be doing his job.

Buchanan may have done wonders in Superior but Saturday's effort wasn't one of them.
