I'm guessing the WIAA would switch venues.

]

I think the WIAA would actually win that one, and the sectional would be either before or after the WIAC game. The WIAC game would probably be at 3 and the WIAA game at 7.

I have no basis for my claim.  ??? :D

Anyone heading to Whitewater this weekend for the Eau Claire game would be stupid not to attend the first game, IMO.  Eau Claire topped Whitewater earlier in the year to hand the Warhawks their only loss of the year, while the Blugolds come in undefeated in the conference.  Not a bad game to start the afternoon off...

6'6 Kurt Kincaid of Elcho H.S. will jon the UWL Eagles next season, according to today's La Crosse Tribune. The paper reports that he is the leading scorer in Wisconsin prep BB, with a 27.1 scoring average. Sources inside the program tell me that the coaching staff believes he is a real prospect, and discounted any suggestion that the relative lack of competition in a small school might detract from his credentials. The Tribune quotes the gentleman as saying his choice came down to LC and Point, but that he felt UWL had better young talent.

Well, the Hawks have managed to lose the last two times at home to the Pioneers. When do they figure it out.  Last year they decided to go small against them and that didnt work. I thought Dustin Mitchell should have logged more minutes against P'ville, if nothing else, to provide a shotblocking/altering presence.  It was a game they should have won and it could cost them in the long run.

Actually we beat Platteville 58-57 on February 20th, the last time we faced them at home prior to Saturday.

Nice write up on the Pioneers on the front page.

Nice article on Superior.  Should be fun following those young guys for the next 3 seasons.

Beat me to the punch...nice article on that team up in Canada! lol.  Seriously though, cool to get some pub from a Southeastern paper for a team in the Northwest!

I'm assuming the votes on the poll for "other" is for Rob Perry and Matt Goodwin?

Ryan Shea has really seemed to cool off lately.  If I had that poll up a month ago, Beyer and Shea would be getting more votes, IMO.

How did this whole thing get started?  Dwight Hill drove the lane and got his shot blocked, not by the guy that was guarding him, but by the helpside defender.  When the shot was blocked, the guy that was guarding him, who didn't block the shot started smacking his chest and yelled "Get that S*** out of here!".  Which was loud enough for many of the fans to hear.  So why did the officials not stop the game there or T-up the UWW player for doing this???

Then the next Hill comment.....results in an ejection.

When you have to fabricate to make a point your posts are not worth reading.
Unless the WW players are ventriloquists you are making things up.

Also Hill was not given a T on his next comment. Things between Hill and Goodwin were getting out of hand. Prior to WW inbounding, Hill pushed Goodwin who fell (acting? maybe) That was T1- before the officials sorted it out Hill got in McKay's face T2.

Welcome back, J-villebb! While you were gone, a few more games have been played. Life goes on; UWS vs UWW is the dead horse. Stop beating it.

Just answering a post.
Truth hurts the UWS group I guess.

Mr. Downtown

Truth or not, doesn't matter. You are digging out the grave, pulling the dead horse out, and you keep kicking it.

Superior's earned a huge win on the road at Eau Claire. They've learned their mistakes, and have moved on.

Here's a question for Whitewater, can they stop Dan Beyer this week? He's been avg. 22.5 ppg and 7 rebounds.

Without Rob Perry, and following a loss for Eau Claire, this could be an Upset Special Alert.

They should win, but it won't be easy.

Accuracy always matters!

As for stopping Beyer--nope WW can not. Hopefully  they can stop everyone else.
Can EC stop WW? WW scores in a hurry. If the pace is up WW wins easily--if not an upset is always possible.

Greek Tragedy

With all the other games west of Stevens Point (and they are off this weekend), I'll be heading to Whitewater for the first time this year.  I'm looking foward to the game and see how Whitewater plays without Perry.  It looks like it'll be the MATT Goodwin v Beyer show.

Whitewater 69, Eau Claire 63

Goodwin went off for 23 and Perry had 22.  They went to the line a combined 22 times, twice as many as Eau Claire had as a team.  Perry's replacements, ironically, both started that game.  Kori Vernon and Josh King came down with 17 total rebounds and 17 points.  Shea was just 4 for 17 for 11 points.  I think Probst will need a big game if Beyer gets doubled.  Whitewater went man to man vs. Skemp and got rewarded by giving up 30 to him!  I don't think Miller will make the same mistake with Beyer.  I think Platteville's guards are better than Eau Claire's, so stop Beyer and you'll probably stop Eau Claire.  For EC to pull out a victory, Probst and Shea will need big games.

Of course, the women's Whitewater (18-1, 9-1) vs Eau Claire (16-3, 10-0) game might be ok to watch as well! lol...Eau Claire handed the Warhawks their only defeat of the season.

Getting back to some earlier posts.

When I pass through Osseo, the Norske Nook is mandatory.  Not only do they have good Norwegian food, their pies are the best I've ever tasted.

And they have a branch location between Eau Claire and Superior.  I believe it is in Rice Lake.

Two excellent spots for road trip lunches that no one has mentioned.

Thanks chmarx and +k. The Norske Nook in Osseo has incredible pies and a great breakfast.  They were written up in the the New York Times many, many years ago. Haven't been back there since I was in Grad School at UW-La Crosse 20ish years ago. But, just a mention of it brings back many fond memories on my countless trips from LaX to the Bayfield area.
