QuoteHey Oshkosh fans!  Brian Carroll and I plan to attend Saturday's game.  It will be the first trip to Oshkosh for a sporting event for both of us.

I hope the roads make the travel across the state bearable.

Also, enjoy the new Titan mascot. I think he's pretty cool.

The NCAA does not distinguish in this scenario between a timeout and any other stoppage of play in which a substitution is made. According to Rule 10, Section 3, Article 9a of the NCAA rulebook, a bench technical is assessed as soon as the ball becomes live if the officials catch a non-beckoned substitute entering the court. However, according to Rule 3, Section 4, Articles 5 & 8, it's not a technical if the non-beckoned substitute is not noticed until after play has already resumed.

Hope that helps.

It sounds like it falls in the area of "non-correctable error"  If the refs see it they call it, but if they miss it they can't consult with the table or go back and fix it.

So it sounds like the refs were wrong because it slipped past them, but correct in that they can't fix it after the fact.

In defense of the refs by the time the player came off the bench the ball was already into Platteville's front court and all three of them essentially had their backs to the Platteville bench.   Obviously it should have been caught before the ball was put into play but, if I'm reading the rule correctly, because it wasn't it was no longer a violation.

The hardest part of a substitution infraction like that is resisting the urge to have the PA announcer use a hockey term: "Both teams now at full strength."

On a serious note to all Pioneer fans who read this board and want to be part of something special Saturday: The UW-Platteville women's and men's programs will combine Saturday to collect donations for the Shoot A Three for Bri fund.

The fund-raiser is honor of women's player Brianna Klaas, who is battling cancer. Supporters can either pledge money for every three-point basket the Pioneer women make during the season (currently 127, just eight behind the school record) or simply make a donation. All proceeds go to the Grant County Cancer Coalition Fund, helping local families who are affected by this disease. The Pioneers have raised almost $3,500 already for this worthwhile cause.

The women's team will collect donations during the men's game vs. Robert Morris-Springfield Saturday at 1 p.m.

THAT'S DEBATABLE!

Sorry, the hockey fan in me got carried away. It'll never happen again.

Pretty hard to get named Player Of the Year more than once a year.
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

Because of the snow, the UW-Platteville and UW-La Crosse game has been postponed until Thursday at 7 p.m.

Mr. Downtown

La Crosse has to play on Thursday night, and then get back to La Crosse (which I'm going to assume it will be Friday early morning), go to class, have one day of practice to be ready to travel across the state on Saturday to play at Oshkosh.

I feel sorry for the Eagles this week.

The Men's game is in LaCrosse.  Consider it a early warmup for the conference tourney when they finish the conference season on a Saturday and the tourney begins on Monday

Mr. Downtown

Oh...i see

So is both the women's and men's games postponed?
