Mr. Downtown

Dec. 3-20 is going to be a tough stretch for La Crosse.

UWP has announced that they will play an exhibition game at Bradley University in Peoria.  Former Lakeland and UWP assistant coach Kyle Vogt is director of basketball operation at Bradley.  Game will be held Nov. 3.

That is really impressive.  Getting the chance to play UW is one thing.  But UW almost kind of HAS TO play WIAC schools in the preseason and given BR's affiliation of UWP ... it is a been there/done that kind of thing.

Being able to go into Peoria and play someone like Bradley will be a great test.  This is something that doesn't always happen a lot!

UW-Superior has added an assistant coach for men's basketball: Logan Flora, formerly at UW-Green Bay. What this says to me is that UWS has a commitment to putting a legitimate basketball team on the court rather than five guys who want to play basketball and don't mind getting their butts kicked a couple times a week. I don't know how Buchanan did it, but hats off to him.

This year is WW's turn to play the BADGERS at the Kohl Center.

If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

The only challenge will be keeping him.  I could easily see him returning to UW-Parskide if Luke Reigel were ever to leave or get fired.

As a UW-LaCrosse guy I could see him leaving Superior for there if Koelbl were ever to leave!

He's a great recruiter and a bright up and coming mind!

I would think Koelbl would only leave for a great opportunity.

I'm completely bored.

I see that Stevens Point isn't on Carroll's or Ripon's schedules this year.  They have been playing each other in the past, so I guess their contract is up.  Augustana must have been sick of us beating up on them (just kidding!), so I guess our 2-year contract with them is up.

I do see Point is playing Lawrence again, Elmhurst and Wisconsin Lutheran (there's a new one!)...and I thought someone said we were playing St. John's this year.

So, that's four of nine nonconference games scheduled.  Viterbo again?  Was the Cal. Lutheran game a home and home series?  Lakeland again?

Carroll thinks it's playing UW-Stevens Point. Tentatively, anyway.

Yeah, I actually remember seeing that.  Not sure why I didn't think Carroll was playing them.  Maybe I was thinking someone else.  I guess my boredom got to me.

I'm really hoping for Carroll and Elmhurst to both be "away"... I think Sem should schedule Carthage too in Kenosha...! that way I'll get to see 'em more often!

Good luck trying to schedule Carthage.  We've given up.

Just Bill

Carthage's president has made it very clear to their athletic department that they are not to schedule WIAC schools.  The only Carthage/WIAC matches you ever see are at neutral site, multi-team invitationals (like volleyball) and NCAA tournaments.  It's the old "they don't belong in D-III" stuff.
