Lots of people retire to Florida; why not Favre?

Have you ever really sounded out "Favre"? Shouldn't it be pronounced, "favor"? Just a random thought while waiting for the next installment of As the Stomach Turns. I also wonder what Scott Favre does for a living? Is being Brett's brother enough? What about that pseudo-sports journalist in Biloxi? If Favre actually retires, does that mean what's-his-name has nothing to write about?

Am I in the wrong site?

Its sad watching a sure hall of famer tarnish his career for an additional season.

That sounds like déjà vu all over again.  ;)

WIAC names dotting Top Mens competition rosters during the Gus Macker tourney this weekend in Eau Claire - I've looked at rosters, and have watched play a bit, but can't confirm if all of these guys were here, and played, but =

UWEC currents - Jordan Kappen, Jacob Schlub, Chance Weisensel on a team...

UWEC team with Dan Beyer, Zack Ryan and Jared Supalla...

UWEC grads Will Greene and Jason Larson on a team... Quintin Johnson and Matt Riley are here, too...

Blue Devil/Blugold Eric Gardow... other Stout players - Jerrod Buccholtz, Josh Huettl on a team... Eric and Nate Heisler on a team...  Maybe Alex Mason?

UW-Superior well represented, with team of Codey Kastern, Dan Culy, Jake Smith and Shane Manor; another with Jason Proue and Dwight Hill...

May have inadvertently mixed players/schools when I typed this up. Probasbly skipped a few players, too... Will be back later for perhaps an update on the winning squad, if it is a WIAC-laden one...

Also, I'm withholding the name of the player who finished second in the slam dunk contest, to keep anyone who may have stumbled upon this entry in suspense...  ;) A hint - two-time All WIAC selection, from this decade...

UWEC grads Will Green and Jayson Larson were able to three-peat in the Top Mens competition this weekend... Lots of woofing, barking, jawing and trash talking right from the get go - but mostly by their opponents; on their first offensive possession of the game they were already whining about a foul...

When the game was pretty much well in hand, however, the defending champs, who were doing their talking by keeping their mouths shut and putting the ball in the bucket, did say a few things to their opponents... 16-9 victory; game ended on a time limit... Some interesting banter going on back and forth, the likes of which you don't hear in WIAC games...  ;)

2nd place finisher in the slam dunk contest was UW-Superior's Cody Kastern, who I my humble opionion, was the best overall, but had his poorest dunk in the championship round...

Here's a link on the Gus Macker, for anyone who may be interested...

Mr. Downtown

That might be the easiest schedule Oshkosh has had in a long time. The start is going to put a damper for some Titan folks (LW, @ AUG), but it looks like an easier road.

WW won't release it's schedule until it's finalized.  There must be some questions still.

Can I ask how this year's schedule is easier than last years?  About the only difference I notice is that Elmhurst is no longer on it.  They added Carroll University, who may not be as strong as Elmhurst, but are better than say Finlandia.   As far as the teams they are playing in their own invitational and Phoenix, I don't know much about them.

If anything, I would say this looks VERY similar to the Oshkosh schedule I have seen over the years.

Christopher Newport has been a strong program in the past and Lewis and Clark from Portland, Oregon is also a good program.  Play very uptempo and shoot lots of 3's.  Have a variety of guys that can play multiple positions.  By no means would I call these cupcakes out in the desert.

Welcome aboard to UWSP's new SI person, Medford native Mitch Capelle, officially named as the school's assistant athletic director for media relations. He takes over the spot vacated by one of the best, Jim Strick...

Capelle was SI at Colby-Sawyer College in London, NH...

Interesting article about a UWRF alum who is using experience in high school and college athletics to lecture prep athletes and parents about the realities of the recruiting game...

Just Bill -
Do you have any idea who the Central Wisconsin Dawgs are? They will, according to the UWSP site, be playing the Harlem Ambassadors at Quandt in September... Might there be a former Pointer or two on the Dawgs' roster?..

I'm sure there will be more info forthcoming, but if you or anyone else knows any of the participants, drop a line here...

No idea who the Harlem Ambassadors or Central Wisconsin Dawgs are!

Ambassadors at Quandt

I was thinking like the Harlem Globetrotters...no clue.

Harlem Ambassadors vs. Central Wisconsin Dawgs = Globetrotters knock-off vs. Bunch of former college and high school guys

I don't really know but that's my best guess.
