The conference is just messing with you Tom.

Nobody else noticed, but they knew you would...!

Btw, how's the married life treating you?

I heard a rumor earlier this summer that Pete, Ross and Drew were unhappy for a couple of reasons (playing time/rotation/coaching) but we'll see for sure when the roster comes out this week. If El Amin is also gone Point needs to develop some people fast or they could end up in the bottom half of the league. That would leave them with only 4 players who started in a game last year, Beamish, Hurd, Moses and Wotachek (35 PPG, 15 RPG, 6 APG among them), and no real ball handler. :-\

Since those rumors are now public...

I heard Drew was unhappy because of playing time, possibly.  Pete wasn't going to play because of injury, Ross wasn't going to play because his brother wasn't and El Amin wasn't going to play because Drew wasn't playing.

Honestly, if Ross wasn't going to play because Pete wasn't and El Amin not playing because his buddy Drew wasn't, those reasons are pretty childish, IMO.  As much as I love my brother and enjoy hanging out with my best friend, neither of those reasons would prevent me from playing.  Maybe there are other reaasons though...I guess we'll find out Saturday at the Purple/Gold game.

Tom, I've never yet met you but I understand there may be other reasons you might not play - though Earl Boykins may actually be shorter than you! ;) ;D

Were these non-returnees known to d3hoops.com, or is UWSP's preseason #6 ranking now suspect?

The WARHAWKS men scrimmaged Elmhurst last night.  Unfortunately I was unaware of it so the only report I heard was that we looked pretty good the first half and pretty bad the second one.  Elmhurst is a very good team.  I did get there in time to see the subs play and the WARHAWKS beat them convincingly in one half of play.

Old School is height challenged but he is quick and nifty.   :D

Ironically, I do have a brother named Ross. lol :-)  My best friend's name is Swampgoon, I mean, Dave, not Drew though...

Neat story about UWSP's most famous hoops player, who returns to Wisconsin to lead his Phoenix Suns against the Bucks on Sunday...

(That's Terry Porter  ;) for the younger generation on here who didn't have the privilege of seeing him play... Classy guy and a great representation of the program in Point; what a treat it was to see him play...)

Looks like the UWO season opener against St. Norbert is going to be at Albee Hall instead of Kolf. The UWO volleyball team is hosting an NCAA Regional that night (11/15), although Kolf could be turned around in time. Just don't think the NCAA would allow a regional host to have another event on the floor, but I could be wrong. Anyway, just a heads-up.

I like the environment at Albee – the stands are very close to the court – but the small floor is subpar. I hope the Albee floor plays better than it did several years ago, when UWO played there against Lawrence. Could have been a travel called on every possession. It was like an ice rink in an oven with all the sliding in a ridiculously hot gym. Anyone remember that game?

The UWO 12-man roster is online.

Should be an interesting situation in Oshkosh this year.

Noticed there are two photos accompanying 2008-09 stories on the Point site. One is of Beamish. The other is of El-Amin. Think that means anything? Would be weird to have a photo of a guy who isn't going to play, though.

Didn't someone say Schrimpf was out for the year?  He's on the roster, right?

Yeah, TVD said Schrimpf could be ready to play the last two weeks or so of the season. But TVD added that it's highly unlikely that Schrimpf would play those last few games.

UWBadgers

Schrimpf is with out a doubt not playing this year due to a knee injury. He is taking a medical red shirt.

Ryan Ostendorf and Steve Birman look like nice transfers for Superior.

Looks like one of Whitewater's transfers, Chris Vines (3.4 ppg at Indian Hills), wasn't nearly as impressive. Then again Indian Hills is a D-I powerhouse, so his numbers could be skewed. Couldn't find anything on Kingsby.

badgerwarhawk

It may take Vines a season to adjust to the WIAC but I guarantee you he's going to be a very good player in this league before he leaves.
