sounds like wisco lutho chucking up threes at will, and making them....currently down by 6 WW to them

uww4ever

Platteville is taking care of Viterbo.......

Stevens Point after a sluggish start has taken a nice double digit lead on St. Johns in second half

ww wins 87 to 78, and this update brought to you by leinenkugel's, hopefully the check is in the mail :)

don't know much about game stats, but vines and mckay will have some nice stats.  Vines scored 15 or 17, McKay with 21.  Goodwin had a decent second half, not really a sluggish game to start out with, I just think WW had to play it's game and really take care of it on the defensive end because Wisco Lutho hitting a lot of threes.  The anouncer's stated on the radio that Wisco would feel a lot like WW did on Tuesday, how they played well but didn't translate into a W for them.  Oh well....

According to this game, I think we might have a tough time dealing with three point shooters, especially like the game I saw against steven's point, where two or three of them could nail long range bombs at will.  we will definitely need to shore that up before conference play starts.

hopefully will be able to get to the carroll college game tuesday.  see these guys in person to give a better perspective on this board.  peace to all :)

Pointers win 97-70. Sluggish start saw them fall behind by 9 then come back to lead by 9 at the half. Defensive intensity to start the second half was awesome and resulted in the bench being cleared for the last 5-1/2 minutes of the game.

Pete Rortvedt (22 pts) got going early and his at least 5 treys, one from at least 26 feet. Nick Krull had great plays on both ends of the floor and scored 10. Beamish had his way inside as did Jordan Brezinski. Wotachek had his moments around the basket, but seemed content to play outside. El Amin played fast tonight, scoring several baskets beating his man to the rim. Moses had several steals.

St John's has a nice trio of sophs that led the way for them. Schwartz was tough inside and out (23 pts) and Burtzell (14) and Herman (18) did alot of damage inside with their quickness and leaping ability.

Good start to the season for Point, but they need to be tougher inside to win in the WIAC.

WARHAWKS survive, 87-78, despite some outstanding shooting by Wis Lutheran (10-17 from beyond the arch in the first half) by playing much better perimeter defense in the second half (4-11 on 3's) and controlling the boards (35-21).  Still it was a game that went down to last couple of minutes before being decided.  Goodwin, held to 1-6 from the field in the first half, finishes 9-16, 24 points and McKay adds 23 points and 9 rebounds to the effort.  Chris Vines got of to a great start going 7-10 from the floor and adding 16 points and 5 rebounds. Vines was drawing comparisons to Rob Perry and Aubrey Lewis-Byers.  Short on height but strong and playing bigger than listed.  Billy Kolinski also hit double figures with 10 points and 5 rebounds.   WARHAWKS shot 58% from the floor including 62% in the second half.

Any Pointer fan know how long Louis "The Hurt" Hurd is out?

Superior gives up a nice lead and look to be confused with just over a minute in the game. Free throws and fouls are their weaknesses. Yikes.

I guess that might be the classic definition of choking.

Jake Smith gets in foul trouble early; spends too much time on the bench and takes the team down with him. We start the season in negative numbers. Chrap.

Tom,  Louis Hurd has a stress fracture, I think, in his heel area.  On the Monday Pointer radio show, Semling said that it's one of those things that you just don't know how long it's going to be.  He was hoping to play Saturday, but wasn't suited up and had one of those walking cast/boot things on his foot.

Pioneers rolled on Saturday night.  Pioneers officially put the game away at the start of the second half.  Pioneers, somehow only shoot 65% from the charity stripe, which is surprising to me considering it was their home gym, and the way they shot them at Bradley last Sunday.  Either way, they dominated the other aspects of the game especially the defensive end of the floor.  Off til Friday night, when the take on Clarke College in the Pioneer Tip Off Tournament.  Followed by Loras College on Saturday.
