I want to compliment the announcers on WLUR who called the W&L/R-MC game tonight. I didn't hear the entire game but every bit of what I heard was...well I'm struggling to find the right words, but I just thought it was extremely well done.

^ We heard it all and totally agree w/you.  Very professional and dead on in their analysis.

The Jackets were shooting "lights out" in the 1st half, they said.  What happens in that locker room that they come out so cold?  This wasn't the first time this season they've slept through a 2nd half offensively.  Thank goodness their defense seems to have held up enough to eke out the win.

Kudos to W & L's Atkins who seems to love playing the Jackets.

GO JACKETS!!!! A good win is needed tomorrow night in Ashland!

W&L always has one of the best radio productions I've heard in D3, and it's especially good when Jeremy Franklin is on the air. It's one of the few radio crews I actually listen to at D3. Luckily for the ODAC there are several schools with good radio/color and play by play crews - Bridgewater, Guilford, LC (depending on who's doing it, but none of them are bad), Roanoke, and W&L. I do have to say I have actually not heard the guys at E&H, Randolph, or HSC.

agreed about our Conference's play-by-play crews... wished more schools in the ODAC would allow their people to go do all games but some budgets just don't allow.  Jeremy does call a good game for W&L.

VWC won 101-61 yesterday afternoon over E&H.  Stephen Fields had 20 of his 24 pts in the first half for the Marlins who closed the first half on a 25-0 run over 7:12.

oh, and Guilford stays at #1, VWC lifts two spots to #5, EMU holds at #16, and R-MC moves up a slot to #17 in this week's Top 25... congrats to our teams for continuing their strong standing.

Jeremy Franklin is the Man! He should look to cast a wider net. He would do an excellent job for a large school.
If you make every game a life and death proposition, you're going to have problems. For one thing, you'll be dead a lot. Dean Smith

No one else has given them a plug, so we will:  Marty & Andrew do a great job for WHAN at Crenshaw.  (Jeff Burns filled in during a recent snowstorm and did really well, especially for a soccer star.)

Thanks for your support WHAN, we love you guys!

GO JACKETS!!!

I was able to attend the RMC and W and L game last night so ill tell my little summary of the game:

In the first half of the game RMC was for the most part in total control, they had at least 3 chances to make it a 20 point game but they couldn't capitalize on the chances and let Washington and Lee back in the game. I think it was RMC leading by 13 or 14 points at half.  At the beginning of the second half again RMC came out and extended the lead to about 17 and had the chance to put it away but  I don't know if it was RMC letting up or Washington and Lee not willing to get blown out at home that changed the tide of the game.  Washington and Lee made a big run that I felt at times they were helped by referees but the way the crowd was I don't think they had a choice on some of the calls. Anyway I really thought RMC would stop the run after 54 (tall African guy) got one heck of a dunk on  a W and L player, but W and L kept fighting. I really anticipated W and L to pull it out though when 52 got an opportunity to tie it up but his free throw was pretty short barely hitting the rim.   Overall very entertaining game to watch and I was impressed by both teams.  I was very impressed by 34 on Washington and Lee he did a good job, he knows how to use his big body and could also shoot from the outside and I saw in the program hes averaging 16 a game, he should definitely be getting more coverage

I have watched the Jackets online, attended a few games, studied stats. I believe much overlooked credit should go to number 10, Kevin Vokel. Always plays great defense, rebounds well, blocks out, fundamentally sound, knows the game, passes well. A true roll player for this team. Could he score more? Yes. However he has chosen/been assigned this roll that holds this team together.

I saw Kevin in the RMC/Guilford game and agree with your assessment - Stephenson and Anderson are similar role players for the Quakers.  Every winning team needs guys just like these!

Good morning ODAC posters!  We have about 4 inches of new snow this morning with it still falling hard and big winds on the way.

Wonder if Bridgewater will be able to get here for tonight's game?  The news reports are that our roads are a complete disaster this morning... wishing the Eagles safe travels if they head this way!

About the W & L/R-MC game; one of the coaches said yesterday that the second half difference was W & L changed up its defense and we didn't respond well.

Also, too many turnovers.  Again!

Seatfiller, #54 is Brandon Braxton, a very talented player.  We agree about Voelkel... very much a team player and key to the defense, doesn't get enough credit.

Be safe around VA today everyone.

GO JACKETS!!!

Only an inch or two here in Basic City. I understand B'water and H'burg might have gotten a little more. Yes, safe travels for the Eagles to Ashland and the Royals headed to Greensboro.

I'm a little surprised to see no one has commented yet on the game tonight between 2 Top 20 teams! With this being the first and only regular season game between EMU and Guilford, I'm interested to see how both teams come out to night after having a week between games. Does anyone know if EMU made the trip to Greensboro last night? I thought it was a possibility because of the weather and last evening EMU canceled classes for today, so the players wouldn't miss any class time if they did decide to leave yesterday. With a very difficult road win tonight over Guilford, EMU would hold the 1st place tiebreaker over both the Quakers and the Marlins (VWC has a game in hand). Go EMU!

sludge

I haven't seen anything about cancellation, so I think the Guilford - EMU game is on.  Let's just hope, no road win for EMU on this one.  We're not overlooking you at all, you bet!
