It's so nice to see everyone here agreeing about something:  Randolph needs a new gym!

Personally, we hope they're able to get one b/c their men's team surely deserves it & the rest of the ODAC would be so happy about it.

Why can't Randolph find this kind of coaching/recruiting for their women???

GO JACKETS!!!!!

The guy has his ups and downs, but any discussion of POY and 1st Team ODAC has to include Josh Pittman.  Here's his line from today's win over RMC - and he was doubled much of the game.
Quite true Hasa......He, by himself, beat us yesterday......and i'm not taking anything away from any of the other Quakers, as they all played well. But that Pittman kid was in a ZONE in the 2nd half!!Congrats to your GIANT KILLER Quakes-they deserved it yesterday!
Thanks.  Josh was indeed in a "zone."  Everyone in the stands could sense it was going in every time he took a 2nd-half shot.  I saw him play a couple of times in HS and he was simply a ball wizard when compared to most of the other kids on the floor.  Anyone who can put up 50 (as a junior) in a 32-minute state championship game versus Greensboro Dudley HS has serious skills!

I have yet to see either CNU or VWC facilities, but then again, I'm way overdue for a trip down that way.  CNU has become really popular over the last 10 years with the kids around here anyway.  In-state tuition and a higher profile have done alot for that school.

Speaking of gyms and programs, can any explain what has happened to Roanoke?  ??? They practically used to be an absolute dynasty, and now they're just not.  I know Jim Loesel doesn't post any more but somebody out there's got to know something.

I'm with you DeWayne-as nice as the VWC Batten Center is-and it's FIRST RATE-The Freeman Center at CNU is NICER!! They also have the Ferguson Center at CNU, which is a first-class Auditorium/performance Facility that hosts everything from the opera to Huey Lewis and The News!Paul Trible, who is the President there, has done a WONDERFUL job transforming that University from a one-time commuter school (where almost ANYBODY could get into) into one of the top schools in Virginia and very selective academically too!For CNU and VWC, which are literally 20 minutes apart, to have those types of facilities-well-that just says what types of philanthropists we have here in Hampton Roads!!I love going to games on both campuses, and lucky for me- I get to visit both in the span of 8 days!!Again, I hope my Jackets play well!!

They are both nice facilities, but definitely apples and oranges. I would call the Batten Center a nice gymnasium and the Freeman Center a nice arena.

It's tough to overcome 40+ years of losing by large numbers and turn around a program in a few seasons, especially at a school that still is going through difficult times in regards to enrollment and whatever issues that are causing the low enrollment. They got a new coach though, gotta give her time. They lost two 1,000 point scorers from last year so the cupboard is even more bare than usual, but there has been some improvement - they only lost by 7 to EMU recently. It's going to take a lot of luck, a lot of good breaks going their way, and, most importantly, lots and lots of hard work and hitting the recruiting trails and maximizing what little they do have on the roster in the current.

10) Guilford - lower than what everyone else probably has, but I just don't really like much of anything about it. it has been 2 or 3 years since i've been there, but I don't recall hearing of any major changes since then
11) Randolph

EMU and VWC do have an advantage in that their gyms are part of the student center, so it's a bit of apples and oranges when comparing it to the others which don't have student centers attached.

If you've never seen Josh Pittman play (or even if you have), here's some action from the GC/RMC game.  To all my friends at RMC, it's obviously prettty Quaker-centric, so sorry in advance:

I don't place Guilford's at the bottom because the floor is nice and they have the hanging scoreboards with the portable backboards with the rims that bend on the side... the design of it is pretty unique also... I also didn't put Bridgewater at the bottom because the small size and the design gives it a unique, cozy, old time b-ball game feel. When it gets packed in there it can get loud also.. a pretty tough place to play. Lynchburg's gym just looks straight up like an old High School gym.
