82 what jackets did today against the gennies is no big deal, as they will be no more then a couple games over 500 by seasons end. VWC however is another thing! I hate to say how many trips I have made to the Batten Center this year. With each trip the marlins look better. So I hope the Jackets are ready cause if they are not they will get run out of the gym.

H-SC 87  E&H  77    White and George had 55 points and 11 rebounds, several steals and several blocks between them - Jesse and Ward both in double figures also.

DonHo-I agree wholeheartedly and the one thing I fear the most is TEMPO-If we get into a running game with them I fear the worst. We have to make each possession count, play our best defense and make them do what they don't want to do-which is play a controlled game.Even then we have to get a break or two.Should be a great game! Hope to see you Don.....I'll be with a bunch of forty-something guys and i'll have my trademark tan RMC baseball hat with "class of 82" on the back.Come sit with us!

Recapping Saturday's scores:

Roanoke 60 at # 6 VWC 92
W&L 41 at # 11 RMC 72
Randolph 50 at # 18 EMU 85
BC 60 at LC 74
HSC 87 at E&H 77

On Sunday, Roanoke moves over to play CNU.

The first three games were pretty significant beat-downs.  Not really surprised the Marlins harpooned the Maroons by 32, but I was somewhat shocked to see the ineffectiveness of the Generals and the Wildcats in their games.  W&L travels to Guilford Wednesday night - kind of interested to see which Generals team shows up - the one that started the season 10-2 or the one that got blown out by the Jackets.  Then we have Randolph at home, travel to always dangerous HSC and then finish at home with EMU.  With three of the last four regular season games at Ragan-Brown, I like the Quakers' chances.  GC is 8-4 in the league now and tied for 3rd with Randolph, so these games are crucial.  I'm optimistic the Quakers will finish in sole possession of third, but know it could go either way.

Hope to see many of you in Salem in three weeks!

Ive seen some talk on here about EMU not looking to good this year. I just think those guys haven't hit a lot of their shots thus far. Also, some chemistry problems may have cost them a few games. I do think they look much better in the past few weeks. They are 5-1 in their last 6, with that lone loss to Randolph. I think it was evident last night in a 35 point win that they are playing better. If they continue to play better and hit shots, I think that spells TROUBLE for the rest of the ODAC come tournament time!!
LETS GO EMU

A 35 point win means they get a win, thats all, no more no less. A (one)win is a  (one) win a(one) loss is a(one) loss. EMU had a good year last year and might have a good year this year.

Isn't that the definition of "not looking to (sic) good"?

Donho, I hope we see you in the first round.... Thanks for the clarification of what a 35pt. win was, I appreciate that.

donho

You are welcome for the clarification. First round, maybe, maybe not. If I remember correctly last year you all ran us out of your gym( 22- 26 point win for you), you all could not carry any of those points into the next game against the Jackets cause we sent you home early from the ODAC tourney. Awin is a win one point five points or twenty five points.

The Tigers played a great game on Saturday ... Harrison George had 23 points and 6 rebounds on 7-11 shooting ... Ru White scored 22 points (10-12!) and had 5 rebounds, with 2 blocks and 2 steals ... and Randall Ward had another good game with 15 points, hitting a fair % of his 8 3PT attempts and all of his four FTs.

The Tigers now have a 3-game winning streak going on, and we will hopefully see another victory on Wednesday at nationally-ranked #19 Ferrum.  Although Ferrum has a great record (19-2), they are 6-1 against ODAC opponents, with a loss to EMU, 2-point wins over Randolph and W&L, 7-13 point wins over Roanoke, Bridgewater, and E&H, and an early-season blowout of Lynchburg.  Hampden-Sydney has 3 wins (10-15 point margins) in its games against USA South opponents (Methodist, North Carolina Wesleyan, and Shenandoah).

So one has to wonder what Ferrum's 19-2 record would look like if they were regularly playing Virginia Wesleyan, Randolph-Macon, EMU, Guilford, and Randolph ...... and what HSC's 12-8 record would look like if you subtracted their 4 losses to Virginia Wesleyan, Randolph-Macon, EMU, and Randolph and replaced those games with 4 games against North Carolina Wesleyan, Christopher Newport, Greensboro, and Methodist.

Ferrum definitely has a home-court advantage, but I think this game could easily go either way.  No doubt about it.

GO TIGERS!

Donho- Yes, in fact EMU did blow you out by 23 last season. You are also correct, you beat EMU in the second round of the tournament by 2 pts. Not to mention I think you made it to the final 4 last year and EMU was knocked out in the Elite 8. What is so ironic about that is the fact EMU finished #4 in the nation and RMC #5 in the final rankings!!!! So a win is a win, unless by 27 early!! haha Giving EMU the better final ranking!

Stillfamily......please...grow up! Why dwell on last year's final rankings. What's your point? One team got to experience a Final Four while another did not.

There are two teams in the ODAC ranked regionally this February number 1 and 2.  They will play this Wednesday night. Where is EMU regionally?

Perhaps Coach Dean should re-think the schedule and stop playing the likes of Penn-State Brandywine, Lancaster Bible, Penn-State Beaver, Berkley ...etc.

EMU is still a formidible foe for anyone. Has the fact of not being in the top 8 regionally set a fire? Only time will tell.

In the meantime, live in the present.

Nice come from behind win for the Generals at Greensboro last night.  I think W&L trailed 40-27 in the first half and then were up by 12 before the final 82-76 score.  I heard Guilford Coach Palombo and his assistants were in the stands last night to watch since the Quakers host the Generals tomorrow night.  With the win, W&L's now 13-8 and Guilford's 14-7.
