From d3Hoops page of "who is in..." - the criteria for selection of pool c is unbelievable - you need 2 or 3 computers to calculate who is in and where they play - if anyone can do before tomorrow - their team deserves to go!!!

Congratulations to R-MC. Their dismantling of Randolph was impressive, to say the least. I would not be surprised at all if they win the National Championship. Their defense is on a whole different level right now - quite possibly the best in all of D3 right now. Their current 54.5 points allowed per game is one of the best of all-time, based on the numbers from the NCAA record book.

Sorry Dave, I misinterpreted the number in parenthesis.  Too bad, I like my interpretation better.  ;D

WOW, what a weekend to be a Yellow Jacket!  The sports teams went 13-0 this weekend, with 3-0 for Women's BBall and an ODAC championship, 3-0 for Men's BBall for an ODAC championship, baseball team goes 2-0, softball team goes 4-0, plus men's lacrosse goes 1-0.

25 points = great win for RMC plus 4 of 5 All-Tour from RMC

Who was on All Tourney team?

All Tournament team:

Colton Hunt
Eric Pugh
Lamar Giggetts

Danny Jones
Jordan Brown (MVP)

How is all-tourney chosen? I thought it used to be 3 for the winners and 2 for the losers?

Has this ever happened before, 4 of 5 from same team?

National Committee has the final vote, which doesn't necessarily have to go along with Regional Rankings. Last year RMC had a better seed in the tournament than both GC and EMU, and I believe they were lower in the Regional Rankings. My gut says EMU is in based off of 22 wins and #11 in Country. They lost to RMC 3 times, RMC will be ranked 5 or 6 in nation after today's win over Randolph and an ODAC crown.

National Committee does have the final vote .... and it's also true that the regional rankings were done before the final games were played, so they could essentially change.

Both Ferrum and EMU lost.  Ferrum lost to NC Wesleyan, a team that has lost to Virginia Wesleyan, Guilford, and Hampden-Sydney.  For that matter, Ferrum has lost to EMU and Hampden-Sydney.  On the other hand, EMU lost to Randolph-Macon, the same team that they have lost to repeatedly, a team that went to the Final Four last year and brought everyone back.  Neither EMU nor RMC have lost to any USA South team.  EMU and Ferrum both have 5 losses, but I think that EMU needs to be above Ferrum in the final regional ranking (which may or may not be released in some form today and tomorrow, but it will be done in some way and it won't be the same as the most recently published regional ranking).

The D3hoops poll has little to do with the selection of NCAA Pool C teams.

I would hate to think the all-tourney team is three from the winners and two from the losers. That is lame!

Cant speak on the specific criteria, but I think i remember in my days a semi-finalist making it on occasion...I think if you pigeon hole it and make it 3 from one team and 2 from the other, you eliminate teh possibility to reward a great 2 game performance...or possibly 3 game performance with a loss in the semis, considering the new format.

Just wanted to put a quick note in as i haven't had much opportunity to post this year, but RMC is a dangerous team, and they have the formula to make a deep NCAA run like they did last year.  It starts with their senior leadership, then you look at their depth on both the perimeter and in the post (particularly with Giggetts coming on of late), and couple that with the defense they play...throw in a couple home games and some timely shooting, and you never know what could happen!

Great season for this group, and it is great to see the younger guys starting to "get it" coming down the stretch...must remember from this point on, it is win or go home, and it is IMPERATIVE that they play one game at a time, and continue to defend like madmen!

Keep it up jackets, we are all proud and look forward to next weekend!

That's the type of way it is generally done for all tournaments that i've seen. Varies depending on who makes the rules and how many they choose to be on the team, but typically the losing team in a title game gets more than one person.

Most 4-team tourneys that I've witnessed, will normally have 1 or 2 players plus MVP from winning team, with the other slots split amongst the other 3 teams based on individual performance.

For those that watched the games, where did Lamar come from?  Was he taking time from Braxton, as Braxton seemed to disappear during the tourney?

donho

78 it appears R-MC is going with a nine man rotation. Braxton may have lost a minute or two but I think he still had a fairly good tourney. Lamar sucked up some of Jordans minutes in game two when he got into foul trouble. It seems he fits nicely into the rotation.

hsctigers2002

On the women's side, R-MC got three on all-tourney and Roanoke two.
