Good thing for Buffalo State that they weren't playing EMU instead of Gwynedd-Mercy at Ramapo last night ....   ;)

I see two more ODAC wins tonight!  VWC over F+M by double digits, and R-MC in a squeeker.

Again anyone want to ride to St.Mary's today leave a message here.

uote]         Donho,  I am leaving Ashland about 3:00 to drive up to St. Marys... I wasn't sure if you were coming through Richmond or going up 17.. If you want to ride leave me a message ....Steve

If RMC beats St. Mary's tonight, they will likely go to Middlebury next weekend.  However, the Yellow Jackets should have a decent chance of hosting the sectional if Middlebury doesn't win their game against Western Connecticut.

Western Connecticut, Johnson and Wales, Buffalo State, and Rochester are all within 500 miles of RMC, which means the NCAA would not have to pay for any plane flights to Ashland, if Middlebury loses to Western Connecticut and Rochester defeats M.I.T.

Even if M.I.T. wins and the sectional is between RMC, Western Connecticut, M.I.T., and Buffalo State / Johnson and Wales, then the NCAA may go with RMC anyway, given the following regional rankings:

Middlebury (25-1) - #1 in Northeast
Randolph-Macon (23-4) - #2 in South
Rochester (20-5) - #3 in East
Buffalo State (21-6) - #4 in East
Western Connecticut State (21-5) - #6 in Northeast
MIT (19-7) - #11 in Northeast
Johnson and Wales (20-8) - NR in Northeast

I noticed that the Macon mens game is not included on the D3 hoops scoreboard for tonight. Anyone know why ??

I don't know what page you were looking at but the game got added to the system at 11:48 last night. Since it's two Presto clients playing against each other I wasn't going to jump the gun on them.

I noticed that, too DonHo!!.....Safe travels today my friend.....sorry I can't make it but work calls... :-[.....Hope you can get in the gym!!Will be watching on the computer.......Didn't get to see anything but the overtime period last night but a little insight.....did we look tight? Like we were playing not to lose????We've gotta loosen up and just play our game.....if we do we can go all the way....if not we'll get an early exit.......maybe the game last night was a wake-up call!! At least I hope so!!.......On an unrelated note-Tony Shavers continues his magic at W&M!!The Tribe, which is freshman-laden and only won 9 games all year....pulls the upset on JMU in the first round of the CAA Tourney in Richmond!!Watch out for Tony.....the BEST coach nobody outside the ODAC knows about!! GO JACKETS!! GO MARLINS GO TRIBE!!
Alvernia stayed consistent... played tough (with basically just their starters) and RMC went COLD in the second half. I think they went 10 minutes or more without scoring a point...

As for those wondering about Pugh vs. Jones... I apologize. I saw Jones with the ball... too a quick look at the clock and then back as the ball was up... saw Pugh near Jones and just flipped the names in my head. No excuse... but I do apologize for the confusion. Will keep it straight in my head tonight! :)

VWC looked great last night.. the energy in Batten was electric and the Marlins played up to the challenge of performing well while hosting  tournament game. If they get out in transition and hit shots like they did last night they should beat Franklin and Marshall by double digits.

algernon

I don't think there's any way that Virginia Wesleyan will host a sectional.  The NCAA would have to fly 3 teams to Virginia Beach, regardless of who wins the other 3 games.

If Virginia Beach wins, the Marlins will likely travel to Williams .... 524 miles, so it will be a plane flight.

If Williams loses, then the Marlins' trip will likely be to either Worcester Polytechnic Institute, in Worcester, Massachusetts, or Oswego State, in Oswego, New York.  WPI is 543 miles ... and Oswego State is 554 miles.

The Marlins would play their first game against Williams or Becker on Friday the 11th.  Then they'd be looking at Oswego State, Rhode Island College, WPI, or Amherst in the Elite Eight on Saturday the 12th.  If they can get through that weekend (!), they will return to the friendly confines of the Salem Civic Center the following weekend .... only 265 miles from VWC and a mere 103 miles from my house ....  ;D

algernon - that would be a very good assumption... if they approve three flights to VWC (or whatever the number)... then not approving them for Whitworth would be inexcusable... so expect the Marlins to travel next weekend if they win. Now... VWC is the higher regionally ranked team... but geography would be the trump card.

As for RMC... I did the research and if Middblebury losses... then RMC has a very real chance to host as only one team would need to fly. THAT being said, to avoid a flight altogether, they could send RMC to Rochester if Rochester wins.

Here is what RMC does NOT want to see should Middlebury lose... if MIT and Johnson and Wales win... both teams are over 500 miles from RMC and they would most likely send all three teams to Western Connecticut.

If Rochester wins, then there is only one team that would be over 500 miles.

Rochester to RMC = 479 miles
MIT to RMC = 540

Johnson & Wales to RMC = 507 miles
Buffalo State to RMC = 491

Western Connecticut to RMC = 394

Pat maybe that explains why I did not see the game listed this morning.

You know how ridiculous we sound saying "the NCAA would have to avoid flying teams out" yet they sign gazillion dollar TV deals with ESPN and CBS  ???

HSCDad

Sectionals are far away right now - both RMC and VWC are down double digits and not looking too comfortable in their games - need strong 2nd halves!!!

donho

sloppy play by jackets. someone needs to step up,and quickly!

HSCDad

RMC down 17 at 11 minute mark - VWC also down
