Kaase just doesn't miss does he?  Now that is the type of player that I'm impressed with.  Let me recast my POY vote.  As big of a Clay Michael fan that I am, Troy Kaase just lights up the floor.  I'm not sure what the exact stats were but I think he may have missed maybe 2 shots and a free throw.

The Eagles were down by as many as 15 points, but came back at times to bring it to a 6 point game.  One player to take notice of tonight for the Eagles was Jay Strotman.  He may not always be the Eagle's high scorer, but he really makes some key baskets and has been doing so the last few games.  As a sophomore he really has the potential to give a lot to the team the next couple years and even become a standout player this year.

one other thing....how is W&L above BC in the standings?  Thats a little odd to me.

Again, I think I'm the only one who picked The Generals & yes I knew that Kusimo's foot was broken when I made my pick. Great start to 2006 - keep it up Gennies!

With due respect for the Generals - Roanoke lays a big one with this game today.  Season after season I keep hoping for a fundamentally sound team, one that is coached to devote themselves to playing solid defense game in game out, and most of all, shows that they're led to learn some semblance of an offense instead of looking like they're let go to do whatever comes most quickly on the offensive end.... but season after season I slowly, as the season moves on, am left feeling bewildered.  I see, season after season, so much talent.  And passion from alot of the players.  I'm always happy to see fight in them, what I think is a want to win.  But then I see different teams in different games - such as a team that took the time to set up plays nearly every time down the court in the B'water game... or like today's a team that seems be directionless on offensive possessions... a team that for a handful of plays seems to play solid defense but on others..... ah.....eh...how 'bout I'll just list what I thought the Generals did well today, I'm tired of feeling so negative....how's that.  W&L looked solidly coached today, and their players stepped up, moved their feet, played solid defense, didn't lose defensive assignments, blocked out, took smart shots, looked disciplined in what they could and could not do, and won the game.  Congrats.  Someday I hope a consistent "system" meets the talent we always have at RC, and the players are given the tools to move beyond themselves and their individual talents once again at Roanoke......

That ODAC Scoreboard is a quality post.  Thanks for your effort on that.

"kid" - The work you put in yesterday was greatly appreciated. Your updates of games, up to the minute league standings and especially your links to the games, kept those of us in far away places closer to the action than we've been in a while. Thank you!

Algernon...

I wasn't trying to provoke anything.  I believe what I said was the absolute truth.  You never seem to give anyone "the benefit of the doubt" except H-SC.  With the Tigers, it's inexperience.  With other teams, they just don't bring in good players.  When the Tigers lose a lead late in the game and lose, they gave it away.  If H-SC wins late in the game, they took it away.  Believe it or not, I'm really not trying to argue with you.  I've just noticed stuff like this.

Kid...

Leave it up to the BC man to come up with an outstanding job on the standings and box scores/star player posts!  I can't speak for anyone else, but that's just a hell of a nice thing!  Thanks for doing that, and I hope you continue it.  Saves a lot of time going to different websites to find such information!

As for the game yesterday...

The Eagles had a great gameplan and stuck with it the entire time.  They forced two shots until late when they had to.  The tempo of the game favored the Eagles nearly the entire time.  When the lead went from 15 to 6, BC had the momentum, but H-SC had Kaase, and he dominated the last 6 minutes of the game.  The Eagles only committed 12 turnovers for the game, as did H-SC.  Free throw shooting was big as well, as the Tigers hit 10-13 in the second half.  Kaase hit 4-5, which is way above his average, and Josh Fox and Clay Michael combined to go, I think I remember correctly, 1-4 in the second half.  Again, great job by Kaase stepping up.

I was very impressed by freshman point guard Kris Cecil for the Eagles.  Seemed not to get rattled against the pressure.  Cathlin and Oblitey have potential, but looked like they need some polishing around the edges.  I agree with ladyeagle in that Jay Strotman was also very good, and then you add Fox to those guys.  Not a bad group for the future.  As for the rest of this year, the Eagles are getting better.  I think by the end of the year, they'll beat a team they shouldn't, and shake things up in the regular season standings or in the tournament.  Great gameplan by Coach Leatherman and PW Weller, and great job executing it by the team.  Just too much Troy Kaase.

tigerfan, xcoach, eagleslam,

Your welcome, it was fun!  I'll try to do that as much as possible ... especially on nights where most the ODAC teams are in action.  I can listen to multiple games at once, so it wasn't a problem.  Made it more fun that three of the games went down to the wire - two of which went into overtime.

Now I just need to start picking the games better.  7-3 so far this week is unacceptable :) ... here's to hoping R-MC and VWC win today.

I did pick 125 points for the final combined score of the BC/H-SC game ... ended up being 120.  A small victory!

Bridgewater @ Lynchburg- after scaring the s*** out of VWC and EMU (who both had to be thanking their lucky stars to be coming out with a W!), we're starting to gain loads of confidence and finally playing to our potential. No offense to BC, but if we play the way we have the past 2 games and correct some mistakes,  BC doesn't stand a chance on our home court. IF (key word being IF here!) we do that, BC better hope we are still rather tired from yesterday and my outfit from the past 2 games disappears! I wore the same outfir for the past 2 games and what happens: two best games of the season!
