R-MC & VWC each win 2 (easily) this weekend against visiting TX teams in Ashland.

The Jackets & the Marlins got a good look at each other without having to play each other.  Hopefully, it's good preparation for a great game on Wed. night.

GO JACKETS!!!

Not sure I'd characterize today's R-MC win as easy based on listening to the audio. But if you were there you'd know better. Still, a good win. Interesting that R-MC handled Southwestern easier than VWC did, while VWC handled Trinity easier than the Jackets did.

Andre Simon may be emerging as the new Danny Jones, coming off the bench to give the Jackets some umph on both ends of the court.

Sad day at H-SC - down most of game but came back in 2nd half and lead briefly - at end lost by 3 to NC West - George was high scorer so that was good but team only made one three pointer in game - not sure out of how many but at least 16 or so.

Tough loss for the Tigers to the USA South's preseason #1 team.  Harrison George led all scorers with 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting. Ru White scored 18 points to go with five rebounds. Khobi Williamson had 12 points and 15 rebounds!

The Tigers are still getting it together.  They are very deep.  It's surprising that Leon Hargrove is getting so much time as a freshman.  Khobi Williamson is looking super this year.  If Harrison George can do whatever he needs to do to get back into the starting lineup and play 25-30 minutes a game, the Tigers will benefit.

EMU comes to Fleet Gym on Wednesday and the Tigers have an opportunity to start their ODAC schedule with a win!

Tigers need to clean up the rebounding as they still gave up 17 offensive boards today and if they don't cut the turnovers by Wednesday, could be looking at an L. Hopefully the perimeter players will get the ball inside with the Tigers having a big size advantage rather than throwing up three ball after three ball.

We meant "easily" in the sense that the margins of victory were high & the leads rarely changed.  Felt like both the VA teams had a let down on Sunday & both TX teams had some really good talent on the floor both days.

Many of the new Jackets are looking good so far & Simon is certainly one of them to watch.  We also like what we're seeing from the returning players.

GO JACKETS!!!!

The Quakers put their 5-0 start on the line with a trip to NC Wesleyan on Wednesday night.  It was a bit hard to gauge the Bishops' start with the Bible colleges in the early mix, but the HSC game certainly gives more clarity.  I know Coach Palombo thinks it'll be a tough early season test.

Congratulations to yesterday's winners.

I don't do too much of the basketball scene as the Generals rarely matter, but I am pleased with this year's 4-2 start in 6 road games. Yeah, we got our doors blown off by Amherst, but it was a tough way to get there playing 3 games in a couple days with travel between. Losing to CNU on their court wasn't great, but not totally unexpected. Like last year, the Generals are off to a decent start and I hope they will make middle of the pack this year in the ODAC. I believe it is just too tough a basketball conference for the Generals to make much noise, but hopefully they will show up and throw out the occassional surprise win.

Forget the rankings, forget the fact that one team has lots of experience coming back and one doesn't... NONE OF THAT MATTERS! VWC vs. RMC in the Beach tomorrow... it's gonna be a knockdown drag-out slugfest like it always is! Wish I could be there in person for this one. I expect this to be yet another tough low scoring game. VWC has to prove they are really ready for the big stage even though they blew out the two Texas teams over the weekend, and RMC is out to prove that they haven't lost a step. I think this will be a good one, but I think my Marlins will come away with the W. 59-55 VWC.

Didn't see this anywhere.  Runnin' Royals open ODAC with a win.  Anyone who was there have comments?  http://emuroyals.com/sports/mbkb/2011-12/releases/20111126nm3ibs

Just read the article - a nice comeback for the EMU's.

I can't go either DeWayne-too early in the season and I'm in retail so its tough for me to get there this time of year-wish the ODAC would have scheduled this later in the season-I agree though-should be a good one unless your Fish run away with it-I do think though, that if its in the 50's it favors the Jackets! if its 59-55 it will go our way.....I say more like 71-65 VWC......but i hope it's our way!! GO JACKETS!!

5 of the top 10 in teams in D3hoops.com top 10 are comparable academically with W&L. 3 of them are NESCAC schools. I can't fathom why the Generals should be a middle of the pack ODAC team. IMHO - We should be aiming for the top.

Very true. I don't mind aiming for the top. I just don't see it happening this year. Until recently I can't remember too many good years, so there isn't a lot of historical interest in W&L basketball the way the NESCAC schools are known. I also believe the NESCAC schools use a slotting system for admitting athletes (though I could be wrong on this so feel free to let me know) that I know W&L does not employ. Still, we have certainly improved in the last couple years and I am thrilled. That being said, I don't really see us competing at the top of the ODAC right now, even if I am incredibly thankful we are no longer suffering a long serious of sub .500 years.
