Matt Barnhart (kid)

So, what do I get for getting both of the bonus picks right? :)

I was a combined 11 points off.  In the words of Paris Hilton, "that's hot."

alrighty...week 6 is in the books and WE HAVE A NEW LEADER!
jdubyadubya came roaring through the pack, posting an 11-1 mark for the week to take over the top spot with 27 points. Missing ONLY the Roanoke/W&L (and who didn't miss that one other than baselinejam?), he posted the single best weekly mark of the season so far and has been named our "Player of the Week". Now, watch out guru's we have an "old rookie" blowing up in his first week on the pick'em board. Old because anyone who's been on the football board knows the "commish" and "rookie" 'cause he's new over here. "eh...just call me kid" has now entered the pick'em squared circle and spit out a 9-3 week in his debut...not only did he pick up 6 quick points there but he hit BOTH bonus' by picking 125 as the total score for the Sydney/BC game AND going with 110 points as the winners score in the RMC/E&H game (jacketlawyer aslo had 110 so he gets an extra 3 points as well). For the "kid" that's a solid 12 points in week one...not too shabby!
Looks like we "gurus" have some work to do...especially one down South here!

Here's how it shakes out...

ok guru's still time to vote on your "Guru ALL-21st Century ODAC TEAM". 15 players have received votes so far and 8 of the 10 ODAC schools are represented. 8 guards and 7 frontcourt players have been touted. I will post final tallies next Monday so think about it and VOTE!

Good Morning everyone--My picks:

January 9- BC, HSC.
January 15- VWC, RMC, RC, EMU
January 14-E&H, HSC, GC, LC, RMC
January 15- GC, E&H, HSC, RC

School allegiance kicks in on the R-M/H-S game, but don't think I can be blamed for that.  I tried hard to be objective, but just couldn't do it. ;D

DAMNIT! That is quite disappointing!  :(

>STH - Sorry, old man....If you are a fan of the Globetrotters and Paul Gaffney, "Showtime," the Globetrotter equivalent of Mr. Snipes, then you will find the show very entertaining. The West Coast team of the NY Nationals is the plum assignment, more warm weather than the East Coast Nationals. So far, Peter is having a great time.

New d3hoops poll will come out tomorrow.  Both HSC and RMC will move up ... and I'm betting that the headline for Wednesday's game will be "#12 Hampden-Sydney hosts #13 Randolph-Macon."  It's great for the ODAC to have two teams so high in the national poll.

I think Virginia Wesleyan, having won 9 games in a row, should be on the verge of breaking back into the Top 25.

Before the Macon game on Wednesday, the Tigers have a huge game this evening against Eastern Mennonite.  The teams' split their two games last year and come back with virtually the same cast of characters.  Probably the biggest difference from last year for either team is the huge improvement in the play of Troy Kaase, who's averaging 21 points and 7 rebounds a game over the first 10 games.

Monday, January 9
Bridgewater @ Lynchburg  Steelyglen over <, without hesitation
Eastern Mennonite @ Hampden-Sydney Entertaining matchup of POY candidates in the middle, but Fleet is hostile territory for visitors

Wednesday, January 11
Bridgewater @ Virginia Wesleyan JWW takes down Eagleslam
Randolph-Macon @ Hampden-Sydney I flipped a coin.
Guilford @ Roanoke  Loesel dunks on Genero.  :)
Washington and Lee @ Eastern Mennonite  I'm a little uneasy about picking against the Generals after what they did to my Maroons.

Saturday, January 14
Bridgewater @ Emory & Henry  Leatherman's guards will be too disciplined to let the pace get frantic
Hampden-Sydney @ Roanoke I don't think the Maroons' committee in the center will stop Kaase
Eastern Mennonite @ Guilford  Maybe the Quakers get it back together, but until they do...
Washington & Lee @ Lynchburg  Close again, but no cigar
Virginia Wesleyan @ Randolph-Macon Crenshaw should be rockin'

Sunday, January 15
Bridgewater @ Guilford Steelyglen may be in attendance, but I think hasanova teams with Mr. Divak to pull out a close one
Eastern Mennonite @ Emory & Henry  The emus still on a road trip high
Hampden-Sydney @ Washington & Lee The spirit of Craig Jones will be present
Lynchburg @ Roanoke  > won't show up.

Yes I will! Sunday is still aprt of Winter Break around here!

ODACfan1

After the weekend games it is obvious that the Emory and Henry Wasps are getting better, and may be on the verge of going on a little run.  Against VWC and RMC the games were tight in both of the first halves, with the home teams coming out firing to start the second half.  The Wasps got it down to 5 at the beach with about 5 to go, and cut it to 3 at Macon with 3 to go.  If they make a few plays here and there the outcomes could be different.  I am sure if u ask the VWC or RMC faithful they will say the same thing.  On a sad not, Lance Reasback is done for the year due to academics.  This marks the second year in a row E&H has lost its best player at the midway point.  Big games this weekend.  GO WASPS!

jdubyadubya

Mr. Loesel - Your commentary is always entertaining and that's why you enjoy the position of senior guru! Carol and I will be at Crenshaw on Saturday to support the Fish. VWC seems to be playing a very quick game lately and they are beating their opponents by big numbers. As you said, Crenshaw will be rocking. And how!
