Apparently today is one of the days where LC decides not to "show up" for the game, therefore BC is winning 38-26 at the half. Maybe they'll decide to show up for the second half like they did against EMU.

jeloesel

They didn't.  Bridgewater wins, 78-55.

Hampden-Sydney wins by 12 points over EMU, 78-66.  The Tigers were ahead by 4 at the half and increased the lead to better than 10 points early in the second half, keeping the lead between 10 and 22 points throughout the remainder of the game.

Kaase had 27 points or more -- not sure exactly -- and Kevin Forrester contributed 15 points.

Mike Rhoades was present for the entire game.  I wonder why ...   :D

Rhoades throughout his career has gone to see other teams play...Maybe less so in the recent past, but he is no stranger to ODAC gyms!  On a more serious note...I wish I could be present to see the battle between Kaase and Wansley on Wednesday night!  The question will be for both teams...Do you double?  Or will the coaches let these two big boys go at it?  Or perhaps one coach will employ different defensive tactics to disrupt the offense of the other team?  This game will be as much a duel between the coaches as it will be between the players!

To all HSC Fans:  What do you think Bubba will do defensively against Wansley and the crew?

To all RMC Fans:  What do you think Rhoades will do defensively against Kaase and the crew?

Additionally, at what pace will the game be played?  And who benefits from a low-scoring game versus a high scoring game?

<, what's the excuse this time?

Well, it can't be that the game was for money!!!   :P

New d3hoops poll is already up.  The headline for this Wednesday's game:

#11 HAMPDEN-SYDNEY (11-0) HOSTS #14 RANDOLPH-MACON (12-2)

Okay, after a year or two vacation from posting, I have returned to my humble abode of the d3hoops.com posting world.

I am an alumn of HSC (class of 03) and have been going to games as often as I can since graduatiing. I have followed the tigers religiously in all sports. I got to finally attend my first game of the season today, and I was very impressed by the game that I saw from both schools. EMU has definitely moved out of the basement of the ODAC (no longer a cupcake game, like it was my four years at HSC). I was impressed by their grit and their determination. They never quit even when they were down by 21 in the second half (sidenote, the refs gave EMU a big hand by not calling 12 for two technicals (one for language, and the other for his hideous attitude after fouling Kaase and not getting a call on Kaase for a foul). The game was very physical, and definitely a great tune-up game for the RMC-HSC battle on Wednesday. It was a great game except for the sub-standard officiating (which is always the case in d3 hoops). The ODAC Tournament most definitely will be tough this year.  Look out for four different schools to be major contenders, HSC, RMC, VWC and EMU (surprising to me, but they can definitely determine the tempo of the game, as they did tonight).

I really think that this could be one of the best HSC teams ever. I don't necessarily think it is the most talented team (Monroe, Randall, Wilson, Holman, etc is the most talented team), but they definitely play like a team does. I have rarely seen HSC's bench as active as they were in this game. Constantly the fans grew in intensity because of the actions of the bench, rather than vice versa as has happened on many occassions in my days (me being a loud very animated fan). This team passes the ball well, and very rarely relies on one guy. Kaase has definitely progressed as a basketball player. He reminds me of a combination between Lane Brooks (03) and Jeff Monroe (04). He has the size and guts of Lane, and the grit and poise of Jeff. He plays the game like no other d3 player I have seen before. Unless he has a really bad second-half, Kaase will definitely be a factor in the POY voting.

I guess I will submit my picks for the rest of the week:

Wednesday, January 11
Bridgewater @ Virginia Wesleyan
Randolph-Macon @ Hampden-Sydney
Guilford @ Roanoke
Washington and Lee @ Eastern Mennonite

Saturday, January 14
Bridgewater @ Emory & Henry
Hampden-Sydney @ Roanoke
Eastern Mennonite @ Guilford
Washington & Lee @ Lynchburg
Virginia Wesleyan @ Randolph-Macon

Sunday, January 15
Bridgewater @ Guilford
Eastern Mennonite @ Emory & Henry
Hampden-Sydney @ Washington & Lee
Lynchburg @ Roanoke

GO HSC!

Michael had the game high of 20 points and 12 rebounds tonight and Josh Fox had a solid 17 points and 7 rebounds.  The Eagles really dominated.  The Eagles dominated the rebounds with 41 rebounds to Lynchburgs 23.  If the Eagles keep stepping up their game...anything is possibly.  They just gotta play with the drive they had tonight.

Sweeney really got shut down.  Sweeney came away with 8 points.  Fairchild started out strong, but ended with just 13 points.  Tough loss Lynchburg.

Tough loss Lynchburg.

From the box score, it looks like another ordinary loss for the Hornets--little offensive punch and no rebounding.

http://www.lynchburg.edu/athletics/sports/basketball_m/2005-06%20stats/lcmen14.htm

With that loss, Lynchburg is mathmatically eliminated from the possibility of a winning mark in the regular season.  Stan, are you ready to make good on your bet now, or do you want to hold out hope that Lynchburg will somehow catch fire to win the ODAC tournament  to come up with a winning season?   :)  Any analysis you would like to make public about the reasons for the poor showing?

Bridgewater @ Lynchburg- after scaring the s*** out of VWC and EMU (who both had to be thanking their lucky stars to be coming out with a W!), we're starting to gain loads of confidence and finally playing to our potential. No offense to BC, but if we play the way we have the past 2 games and correct some mistakes,  BC doesn't stand a chance on our home court. IF (key word being IF here!) we do that, BC better hope we are still rather tired from yesterday and my outfit from the past 2 games disappears! I wore the same outfir for the past 2 games and what happens: two best games of the season!

WOW! And how did wearing the same "outfir" work out for ya there >?  I have to admit that even though I knew #20 in a row was in the bag...I never thought we'd be having this conversation on January 10th.  This team is done...after giving their best efforts and getting beat in 2 straight games...its obvious that the Hornets have thrown in the towel. Getting beat by 23 AT HOME to a lower division ODAC team spells the end of this season. Aren't you guys pretty good in track? 1-13 whooda thunk it? Maybe Manos knew something!
