Why did the Tigers lose tonight?  Don't blame the refs, they called the game poorly in the first half too.  Blame the turnovers and the poor decision making by the Tigers the last few minutes of the game.  With 40 seconds left, the Tigers chose not to foul the Marlins until there were only 14 seconds left.  Even the announcers for the game knew that VWC had a foul to give without a penalty and stated that VWC would probably use that foul to their advantage, which they did.  Blame the fact that the Tiders chose to run against the Marlins the last 3 minutes.  VWC simply played smarter the last few minutes to win, and didn't throw in the towel. They never do.  The Tigers should have won, could have won, but they didn't. The Marlins found a way to beat them.

Congratulations to RMC for a fine season.  I am sorry that the Marlins will not be playing them today.  They are a well-coached, talented team and RMC will always be a force to contend with.  Congratulations to Randolph also. A big win.

Still feel that ref's had a hand in the game that was outside what they are there for.  I concur that VWC played smart at the end and never gave up - sign of good coaching and discipline (even though players actions at end did not show much class). The first half foul situation was some what reversed but VWC contiuned the fouling/holding without calls in the 2nd - I just was asking for equal treatment especially the numerous missed calls under the H-SC basket.  As physical as the game was, for H-SC to only have 3 foul shot attempts in the 2nd half was not correct.  Hope ref's are required to re-watch the game on tape and are critiqued so next year they are more accountable.

So hopefully everyone is done crying today and we can talk about what really happened in the VWC/HSC game. Refs were bad both ways not just toward HSC. There were numerous no calls on both ends of the court including an intentional foul early in the game where the VWC player clearly went for the Basketball and fouled #23 for HSC. And  as for the "Thugs from the Beach" reference, Call the Marlins whatever names you want to call them. Being a proud Marlin Fan and being at the game yesterday and when VWC played HSC at the beach I remember all VWC players shaking hands with HSC players and coaches. Did HSC shake RMC's hands after they beat them last saturday? I was told no. And if I recall Correct #23 for HSC went straight to the locker room last night after HSC loss and did not shake anyone's hand. Guess he should transfer to VWC because this action probably makes him a THUG now and he fits in perfectly with the VWC thugs i guess. But someone will get on this board and defend him saying it was a young man who let his emotions get the best of him! Well good luck to both teams today and hopefully the "Thugs from the Beach" can  bring the trophy back to Norfolk.

marlin faithful .... Your second hand information, that HSC players did not shake hands with the Yellow Jackets after the RMC game at Fleet, is simply absurd.  It would be good to get confirmation from other sources before you report something that is so ridiculous.  There were more than 1000 people at the game who could have disconfirmed what you heard from whomever your source was.

Each of these 3 teams will take one of the 10 remaining Pool C bids if they lose their title game this afternoon:
MIT, if they lose the NEWMAC to Springfield
VWC, if they lose the ODAC to Randolph
Transylvania, if they lose the HCAC to Rose-Hulman

If MIT, VWC, and Transylvania win, then I think the Yellow Jackets still have a good chance of getting a Pool C bid.

How about Desgain didn't want to shake the hands of the HSC captains in the beginning of the game, The red had to make him! HSC players have more class than that, I'm sure with a captain acting like that marlin fan it was the other way around

Congratulations to the Marlins on their ODAC Championship!

And congratulations to Randolph for a tremendous run through the tournament, with wins over #3 Guilford, #2 Randolph-Macon, and then almost getting the win today in their 2nd consecutive ODAC Championship Game against #1 VWC!

MIT also won today and is out of the Pool C mix, but Transylvania lost to Rose-Hulman and will get one of the Pool C bids.

Colton Hunt named the MVP of the 2012 Men's Basketball Tournament.  Woodmore, Astorga, Vaughn, and Woods-Morrow join him on the All-Tournament Team.

Actually, the only members of the HSC team that shook their hands were Coach Vick, Coach Axselle, and Cam Anderson.  I just saw the tape.

Oh and also congrats to VWC.  Great battle today in Salem and hope the continue representing the ODAC well come tourney time.

Congratulations to the Marlins on their win today!!!! Whoowhoo!!!  Also, I must mention the superior performance by Colton Hunt from Randolph College; a superb player and talent.  Randolph deserves much credit for getting to the finals and being such worthy competitors. They played as tough as anyone could today.  The Marlins truely played team ball and I believe that is a key to much of their success. So many contributed in so many ways in this one. Good luck as they represent the ODAC in the NCAA's! I do hope that RMC gets a pool C bid....love to see them get in!

HSCDad

What ever personal feelings might be - best wishes to VWC as they now represent the ODAC - hope they go a long ways in the NCAA - the further the better in regards to next year' pre-season reviews for all ODAC teams  Randolph is commented also - they will be respected even more so next year - Collton Hunt was super good today.

hasanova

Congratulations to the VWC Marlins.  I hope you go all the way in the NCAA's.  Here's also hoping a fine RMC team also gets a bid - realistically, I think they're the only other ODAC team with a shot.  Go ODAC!

By the way, I know this is the men's board, but congratulations to the Guilford College Quakers for winning on the women's side.  Go Quakers!  Twenty-two and six entering the NCAA tournament - not too shabby!  Hopefully, VWC and EMU will get bids as well.  This trio was clearly the top in the league this season.
