I thought that some of you might be interested in this preseason piece on All-American candidate, Harrison George:  http://hscathletics.com/sports/mbkb/2012-13/releases/201208207iwk5z

It's well done.  I don't get a chance to see George play in person so I enjoyed the highlight reel.

In case anyone missed it on the front page of D3hoops.com, Randolph-Macon will start the season at the inaugural Hoopsville National Invitational Classic at Stevenson University.

RMC will play Transylvania on the night of Saturday, November 17th... and then St. Mary's (Md.) on Sunday afternoon.

How were the invitees to this invitational chosen?

Dave 'd-mac' McHugh

Several factors... but this season the short time-frame certainly applied. However, we are already finalizing plans for next season and the biggest criteria is teams who are perennially in the Top 25 conversation... while also getting programs who are up-and-coming or have always been strong over the years. It isn't full-proof as we can't always get the "dream match-ups" we would love... but those are the basics. We have gotten a lot of interest from Top 25 and other top programs in the coming years. When we have some of the schools more finalized for the next year (and even the year after that) we can announce that... but I can tell you that past Final Four and National Champions have expressed interest following our invites... along with some of the winningest programs in Division III history.

The Top 25 2012-2013 Division III Head Coach Rankings are here.  Although the names may not be house hold names, these Division III coaches are no question at the top of their profession.  The knowledge and talent of the coaches that will follow is second to none and this is a small way RecruitDirt can recognize the coaches who otherwise get looked over.

The rankings were based on recent wins and losses, conference wins and losses, championships won, along with recent and incoming recruiting classes.

There may be some questions as to why certain coaches are positioned where, trust that we have been breaking down schools, coaches, conferences, and everything else imaginable in determining these rankings.

FISHTANKFAN

So congratulations are in order for David Macedo ( ranked 4th) and Nathan Davis (ranked 14th) in  the poll.

recruitdirt.com    Sorry for the disjointed post.  It's been awhile since I learned how to copy and paste and I still don't do it well..  But an honor for the ODAC as well as the coaches.  Should be a great year for all.

Came by the rival conference to see how things were going. Some very established and very successful USA South coaches not on the recruitdirt.com dIII coaches list:

Have seen these guys in action and are very good coaches.
John Krikorian- Christopher Newport
Randy Lambert- Maryville College
Jason Zimmerman-Emory
Pat Cunningham-Trinity

Any comments?

It would help to know what time frame "recent" means in determining these rankings. Also what weight was given to each of the factors consdered. I certainly think Randy Lambert of Maryville might have cracked that top 25.
