Sad news to report:  R-MC lost a lifelong fan and former basketball player - JM Perry '81.  He was a key player on the Hal Nunnally coached teams of his day.  He will be missed.  Condolences to his family.

d3hoops 3rd week's top 25 came out with VWC still Number 1 in the national - 9 points ahead of UW-Whitewater.  H-SC moved up to number 29 and Randolph entered the rankings at 41st.  NC Weslyan who gave H-SC it only loss by one point dropped to 34th.

I know this is a basketball board, but thought you might like rapper Krispy Kreme's Christmas wish list:

Final Guilford 80, NC Wesleyan 64

Close at the half with Guilford holding a 37-35 lead, but the Quakes pulled away in the second half for the win.  NCWC is a good team, but they got beat on the boards today and at the FT line.  Guilford with 5 players in double figures - NCWC was led by Brandon Givens' 27.

Guilford's 6-2 and NCWC's now 7-2.

scottiedoug

Guilford "held" Givens to 27 and had five people in double figures.  NCW had two.

Tough night in the ODAC:

VWC loses to Salisbury 76-67

EMU gets beat down at CNU 46-66

Macon loses to Catholic 55-67

SU loses to Dickinson 69-81

Tough on VWC - they really pulled away from everyone in this week's TOP 25 as they received 21 first place votes. Salisbury is now 9-1 so no push over but they are only rated number 32nd in the nation - seems low for that record and they certainly will advance now.  H-SC drop one position to 30th in the 4th week poll. They play a NAIA team this week so doubtful of any real advance for them. In tonight's VWC game, very unbalanced scoring as Astorga had a great game at 27 points but Woodmore went 1-11 from the floor and 0-2 from 3 points for just 2 points.  Salisbury must have really gone after him - paid off. Randolph came in at 36th in this week's poll.

Yes... HSCDAD....beating a Marygrove team that is 1-11 by  something like 100 points, which might just happen,  will likely do little to advance the tigers further  rise in the polls. Cupcakes anybody?

HSCDad

Meant  to mention Marygrove's record for Thursday night game but forgot - you are correct about "cupcake" but for a positive spin - the whole H-SC bench has played a lot of minutes and there does not appear to be any upset players who desire more playing time - good team spirit.  H-SC full court pressure never ends as so many guys can perform and this has to help as the conference games start.  So far, the second halves have been really big for H-SC as the other teams wear down.

The new coach at Salisbury has brought in a lot of talent to compete. He has done a great job getting the young men to play together and coaching them within the system, instead of getting players and trying to force the issue as was the case with the previous teams.

Oh yes, the good ole game after exams when all the students have gone home and you're also ready to hurry up and go home for Christmas and a good team comes to town. Know that was a long sentence but hopefully you guys can still follow along lol

Quakers over Johnson & Wales (NC) in Charlotte last night, 89-51.  Pittman with 20 (18 in first half on six treys) and Matt McCarthy with 19.  Sounds like Guilford (7-2) dominated all facets of the game versus the 3-13 Wildcats.

Jackets got a BIG win at home last night v. Salisbury 77-55.  They played really well against a really good, well-coached team.

Happy holidays & safe travels to everyone over the next couple weeks.

GO JACKETS!!!!
