No question....they are an exceptionally quick team - all of them. They tend to get a little excited and lose focus.

Final Guilford 82, Emory & Henry 68

The Quakers over the Wasps tonight in Emory, VA, 82-68, behind 32 points by Josh Pittman.  Pittman's night included seven 3-pointers and was part of a 10 for 21 game by GCQ behind the arc.  McCarthy (14) and Richardson (13) were also in double figures.  E&H was led by Mullins and Turner with 21 and 11, respectively.

I didn't get to watch the first half, but I understand the Wasps had a 9-point lead at the 10 minute mark before the Quakers ran off 18 in a row.  After that run, Guilford never trailed again, building as much as a 23-point lead in the second half.

The Quakers move to 12-2, 4-1 with their seventh straight win and the Wasps fall to 2-9, 0-4.

Strange game in Lynchburg - Lynchburg lead for first 28 minutes and was up 10 at that point but last 12 minutes was all H-SC.  H-SC gets the win on the road. Murray and Williamson had great games plus George came alive at the end.  Defense started the turn around. H-SC had three player not dressed due to injuries or other reasons.

Down by a score of 30-40, with 16:43 to go in the game, the Tigers went on a 41-13 run and led by a score of 71-53 with 1:44 left on the clock.

Terrible officiating .... and a very slick floor that made it hard for players to get traction and stay on their feet.

Williamson, George, Murray, Lewis, and Anderson were all in double figures, with 12-15 points apiece.  Khobi and Harrison had 9 rebounds each.

Now the Tigers play two at home ... hosting W&L on Saturday, before the students return on Tuesday and the Yellow Jackets arrive on Wednesday.  it will be loud in Kirby for the RMC game!

Big day in the ODAC today:

Guilford takes down EMU 77-66
W and L loses big to HSC 41-61
#24 Randolph loses to VWC 66-72
E and H beats SU 66-56
Lynchburg beats down Roanoke 86-68
Bridgewater stuns at RMC 66-62

I'm stunned at the Macon score, either they had a really off day or Bridgewater is better than I thought

I watched the R-MC/Bridgewater game online. I don't think it was an "off day" for the Jackets, and Bridgewater is a decent team. I wondered back in November what kind of season the Jackets would have without any proven guards. And I was surprised by the pre-season #24 ranking, Not blaming the guard play in particular for the way the season has evolved, it just seems that there is some intangible ingredient missing that a team needs to get from average or slightly above to good or very good.

^ it was very hard to watch them lose at home yesterday - especially with a lot of basketball alums in the gym for Alumni Day.  Bridgewater has a couple of real offensive stars & they also did a good job of defending.  Give them the credit for the win although we agree with you that it looked like the Jackets were just "off" for whatever reason(s).

Congrats to the winners this weekend & better luck next time to the rest of us.

GO JACKETS!!!!

Tigers' Harrison George makes such a difference when he is on the court.  Hopefully, he'll demonstrate the attitude and leadership that will lead to more playing time and better outcomes against the tough opponents over the last five weeks of the regular season.

At this point, my bet is that no ODAC team will be ranked in the next poll, but that there will be 4 ODAC teams clustered in the #26 to #30 range.

Mr. Ypsi

That sounds about right to me, though the (VERY early) indications in the Posters' Poll (which I run) have Guilford and HSC definite candidates for barely into the top 25.

It makes sense to me that a couple of ODAC teams might get as high as #23 or #24. When do you publish the posters' poll, Mr. Ypsi?

I always aim for Tuesday night, but I don't have the power to 'discipline the troops' like Pat!  It usually ends up being Wednesday night.

See "Posters' Poll" under "Multi-Region Topics".

Algernon, please join us!  You are an interested fan and have a good knowledge of D-3.

algernon

Thanks, Ralph!  I may do that.

Latest Top 25 has Guilford rising to #22, Hampden-Sydney at #28, Randolph at #30, and VWC at #34.

YES!  6 ballots in so far, but I hope it is still EARLY in the balloting!

If you may be voting, I'm not gonna reveal anymore on who's doing what, except to say that 3 ODAC teams are currently still very much in the running for low in the top 25.

In past years I've tried to recruit ODAC voters, but been rebuffed.  Hopefully, welcome aboard!

Congrats to Guilford coming in at #22 in this week's Top 25 and also to #17, CNU.
