Just comparing stats as well, but there is a legit post combination with Adair and Fantin here at VWC.  A Junior and a Sophomore.  Here are their combined stats:

12-3
29.1 ppg   13.6 rpg    59% fg    1.73 bpg (fantin w/ 20) and 2.27 steals pg

These two meet up w/ Hawley and Wansley tommorrow at RMC

May I introduce another tandem into the mix?  (And I am assuming you are talking forwards - not center and 1 forward?)

IWU: Keelan Amelianovich and Zach Freeman

ppg: 33.6
rpg: 12.4 (somewhat misleading - our 'center' [twins Cory and Chris Jones, plus Steve Schweer] pull down over 15 a game - there are not that many left!)
fg%: .535
ft%: .797
3pt%: Zach .2, but Keelan .496

They also combine for 3.6 assists, 2 steals, and 1.2 blocks per game (again, the blocks are dominated by the centers).

While this is fun to discuss, I'm not sure how meaningful it is if we don't include 'who were their opponents, what style do they play, etc.'  Especially problematic is leaving out the centers.

I would like to invite anyone who follows NATIONAL d3 hoops to check out Posters' Poll on the Multi-Region board - we've started up such a poll (by NO means intended to compete with the REAL d3hoops.com poll - but I figure any differences in the two could prompt some lively discussions).

Tuesday, I posted the first results - alas, there were no voters from your area.  Since I've posted on this board before (and follow it regularly), and recognize several posters as quite knowledgable (now, did you think I'd be dumb enough to spell out which ones?!), I want to invite any interested voters who follow d3bb NATIONALLY to participate.

Starting this coming week I will drop the 'weighted' voting by posts - it was a pain, perhaps biased the poll, and almost everyone was in the 'twice' category anyway!  The deadline will also be changed - ballots are due by 8pm (ET) on Monday, to avoid undue influence by the real poll.  I do reserve the right to reject ballots that are overly 'homerish' (put 6 teams from the ODAC in the top 25 and you will NOT be counted!), but don't plan to exercise this option except for extreme cases.

I hope one or more of you will join us!

I'm reposting a note from earlier this week.  I made the mistake of posting it just as a game night began, and it quickly scrolled off!

Our first week's participation was 3 from the Midwest (all CCIW), 2 from the West (both from the WIAC), 2 from the Great Lakes (1 NCAC, 1 MIAA), and one each from the Mid-Atlantic (NJAC), Northeast (CCC), and the South (ASC).  The South rep was Ralph Turner, who is about as NATIONAL as you can find on d3hoops, but a long way from your part of the country!  For anyone who follows the national d3 scene, please check out the Posters' Poll on the Multi-Regions board.

Jim-
It would be fun to meet the people that I read and admire. I would be responsible for Scottie's security at the event as well!

I'll save a spot for you at the table.

< won't be there, so you can enjoy yourself.  Choose from the following list of possible Scottie excuses:  (a) I had to study; (b) Lynchburg didn't make the tournament; (c) nobody would give me a ride; (d) I don't frequent bars; (e) but if I did, the A-SC doesen't serve Shirley Temples; (f) I couldn't find any Moon Pies and/or RCs to pay off the wager with Loesel; (g) Stan Bright doesn't have the black belt martial arts skills needed to protect me; (h) I don't like Steelyglen's after-shave lotion. :)

well, other than the fact that i just dont want to go, (b) and (d) would be the most likely excuses, because if we don't make the tournament im not even going to the banquet on friday night, much less any of the tournament games, and i don't drink so i don't really go to bars. Thumbs up for the creativity on the last two! :)

BC's broadcast is carried on the Internet today: http://www.broadcastmonsters.com/Bridgewater/bridgewater011106.asx

Look for big scoring from Michael, Fox and Strotman

Can't wait to see (hear) the run & gun Wasp style vs Leatherman's vastly different approach.

Didn't post up after the Macon/Sydney game, but after some time to reflect and after the Tigers loss to the Maroons, I will offer my one cent (let's face it, sometimes my opinions aren't worth two cents).

1.  The Tigers have gotten good shots the last two games.  Against Macon, there must have been 5 or 6 free throw line jumpers that rattled around, went in, and came back out.  From the sounds of the broadcast, they got good looks against RC, they just were not able to convert.

2.  I know they were outrebounded in both games, but not because the Jacekts or Maroons dominated the offensive glass, but because they shot so poorly, there were more opportunities for defensive rebounds.  There were times in both games that they gave up some offensive boards, but they also had times where they aggressively attacked the offensive glass, too.

3.  Macon shot unbelievable well from behind the arc.  They shot 46% from long range, and only 42% overall.  The Tigers were inconsistant keeping Macon guards in front of them, and when the help rotated over or down, Macon did hit the open three, and for that, deserve credit.

I must admit the main problem I have comes from fans of H-SC.  After the game, many people were talking, and have been making comments around town the past couple of days such as...

1.  Tiger guards can't do this or can't do that
2.  The schedule wasn't that good
3.  Why doesn't Bubba do this or that

These people call themselves "fans" or "supporters of the program", and they are full of crap.  I hope that H-SC posters on here, when they here some negative talk, jump on their fellow "Tiger supporters or fans".

The people who root for the Tigers need to consider this...

1.  After these games, Tiger guards are the same people as they were the first 11.  At 11-0, you never criticized.  At 11-1, everything about the Tiger guards were terrible.  Would you rather be 7-5 and beat Macon?  Edwards and Prehmus just picked the wrong time to have their worst game.  They missed shots, and you can never criticize a player for that.  They executed and had some good looks; they just didn't convert.  There is a difference.  I would like to know why at 11-1 (now 11-2/5-2)everyone thinks so poorly of the guards.   Because the two losses come to your biggest rivals?  All I heard was how this was a great shooting team with really good guards until Wednesday.  Now, those same guards aren't any good.

2.  The schedule has more solid teams than, frankly, when Coach Shaver was here.  I've said on here before that the schedule is tough thing to analyze, because you never know who the other teams have played.  You can't just turn the TV on like you can in D1.  The teams themselves, were solid.  Furthermore, no negative comments were made at 11-0.  In fact, I heard the schedule was really good then and prepared them for the ODAC really well.  NC Wesleyan had athletic guards the Tigers had trouble keeping in front of them, but I'm pretty sure they did win that game.

3.  People need to stop criticizing Coach Smith now.  He went 25-5 and won an ODAC Championship with a great bunch of seniors doing mainly X's and O's.  He went 17-10, after starting 5-7, with a group of guys who have never been counted on to be the main scoring options and others who had yet to play one second of college ball.  He is now 11-2 with a team that has less depth than any recent Tiger team.  He has switched from an up-tempo offense/pressing defense to a halfcourt/halfcourt man style.  Because he knows that gives them the best chance to win.  He has done it mainly X and O wise, he has motivated, led, and coached, and now he is showing the whole arsenal.  And I have people in the stands coming up asking me why he doesn't do this or that?  Because of a loss to Macon?  He has done a great job at H-SC, and although I am sure some people realize this, not everyone does.  And it is a shame.  I am thankful for Coach Smith this is not D1, because losing four in a row and 9 out of 12 to your arch-rival gets those coaches on the hot seat, and it some instances, out the door altogether.  And let's not forget the 9 out of 12 didn't start when Bubba came on board.  It started in 2001-02 and 2002-03, when Macon won two out of three both years.

I have no dobut that the Tigers will get better.  The guards will not shoot this poorly for long.  Kaase will adjust to being double-teamed.  And Bubba Smith will come up with game-plans that have his teams as prepared as they can be.

Guilford men won 77-70.  Women have just started, but I had to go home.
