Yes, we are very much looking forward to it.

In all honesty, when we went through his look at schools this past summer, he really liked the atmosphere, and academics at Roanoke. Washington and Lee was the other ODAC school he was interested in. My family is originally from western part of VA (Waynesboro/Afton area of VA), and it is within 4-4.5 hours from our current home so I think it lined up for him. Once he started studying up on the level of play in the ODAC, he was pretty much sold on Roanoke.

Amazed how far things have come with being able to watch these games over the internet. He watched  much of the last half of season of Roanoke to see other teams as well as how he could fit in. A definite advantage. We were intending to come down to ODAC tournament, but his team made a run in districts/states and that took precedence (they won silver medals in district, so commitment definitely paid off).

Years definitely fly by, so hopefully we won't take this time for granted. Seems like just yesterday he was starting HS.

Welcome to the board -- there hasn't been much Roanoke commentary in a while but the ODAC group here in particular is good for a good conversation year-round.

I wondered that myself.  I think there may be two JC divisions (not sure about that), but pretty sure there is no d3 JC division.  (And for the record, most such schools much prefer Community College to Junior College.)

He may be correct , however tonight is the first time I ever heard of it.
Sorry to see the shockers go down.

I heard him say that as well ... and said to myself, what the heck is he talking about?  lol  Jim Nance usually has his facts straight, but we all slip from time to time.  Heard Jim Nance came by Guilford a few years ago and got a football jersey; seems his grandfather played football for the Quakers years ago.  Interesting.

Especially the way they did.  That jump ball call with 6+ seconds to go was one of the most bogus calls I've ever seen.  When the whistle blew, I assumed it was a foul on Louisville.  If they ever both had hands on the ball, it was for less than 1 second.  I doubt Wichita would have won anyway, but that took the chance totally away from them.

Yes, there is a Division 3 in the NJCAA.

Looked up the NJCAA  D-3 arrangement and found that there is indeed three divisions for junior college / community college.

Thanks to all three of you for educating me on D3 NJCAA ... as I try to do each day, I learned something new!  +1 X 3

Good school to pick  ;D Noke hasn't had much to cheer for lately and we're losing our best player Kwasi Amponsai to graduation so next year is a toss up

Hopefully fortunes will turn for the Maroons.

My son's eight grade year, the HS varsity won first 2 games of year and that was it (2-22 finish). His freshman year they lost every game until the last one (1-21), he was probably their 6th or 7th man, depending on matchups. Core group of kids busted their tails and had success their last two seasons. Senior year they took silver in Districts, and made first round of states, taking a Philly Charter school to last possession before going down. That group left their mark on turning the program around.

Hoping for similar success at Roanoke (just hope it doesn't take until he is a senior!!).

At minium RC needs at least two really good recruiting classes before they can make a realistic run at the ODAC crown and that can certainly be done.
