Maroons07

Also, this is the fan base that I witnessed as a student at RC yell at AJ Dowell about transferring.   Things I cannot repeat on this board.  And no, it was not the student section, it was grown men seated in the "expensive" seats if you know what I mean.

Algernon -- If you read my post, I was not questioning Cam not playing.  I even went as far as to say its no one's business.  The question was asked on the board why he was not on the roster.  No one answered.   My point was that when stuff happens you and other H-SC fans are the first ones to make false accusations and criticize other programs.   See any post concerning VWC players (ie. posts following the game you guys gagged at home last February against them), RMC's way of ticketing, W&L admissions, etc., etc.  I was not making any judgement on the program or the player, just narrow minded, kool-aid drinking  fans like yourself.

Cam has played all 4 semesters that he attended HSC prior to this one.

The Maroon guy who posts on this board might think before he posts about crickets and such a little more often.

The reality about HSC, academics, and athletics is that academics come first.  Not that HSC is perfect, but let's be clear about this particular situation:  That Cam Anderson is NOT playing this fall semester is a real testament to the reality that Coach Vick is more concerned about Cam as a person than he is about Cam as a basketball player.  He wants to see Cam graduate!  Cam is eligible even now to participate in NCAA athletics, but his academic standing at the present time is sufficiently precarious that he's been told that needs to focus on his grades this semester, rather than spending his time on the basketball court.  Hopefully, he'll do what he needs to do and return to be part of the team.  This is a good example of how winning in DIII athletics is secondary to the importance of academics and the educational mission.

Hello pot, meet kettle.  Calling Algernon narrow-minded and kool aid drinking isn't exactly the best way to go about secretly bashing the H-SC fans.  You're just stirring the pot.

Everyone must still have their minds on football. I'm not saying anything most don't already know or can't find out on their own, but the ODAC was 5-2 tonight. Winners were E&H, RC, R-MC, GC & SU. Losers were W&L and LC. Not sure if any of those results were surprising.

But the big surprise was on the women's side with R-MC beating pre-season #3 CNU.

^ we were at the women's game & they played "together".  It was a great effort with many players involved to build a 20+ point lead several times.  CNU battled back more than once but couldn't take the lead in the last minutes.  It's a really exciting way to get the new season going!

As for the men, Andre Simon had quite a night with a double double & several other Jackets also scored well.

Things are off to a good start for the Jackets so let's just keep it going today!

Congrats to all the other ODAC winners!

GO JACKETS!!!!

Scranton will be a tougher game and a good test for the Jackets today.

Here is the video link for the game, I think the game will start in 10-15 minutes as the first game went to OT. I apologize on behalf of Scranton for the lack of sound, or score.  ::)

Gordon won 21 games and was their conference's runner-up last year. :)

Well thanks for making my day a lot better haha

Shenandoah University moves to (2-0 ) by defeating a very athletic Hood College out of Frederick, MD to capture their own BB&T tip-off tourney by the score of 76 to 71.

hscathletics

Hampden-Sydney has played 55 games the past two years. Cam Anderson has played in all 55 games. Therefore, he was never suspended for a semester.

On another note, congratulations to David Willson, an H-SC alum, for starting off his head coaching career 2-0 at Emory & Henry

The Jackets had a tough day yesterday losing by 2 pts. in both basketball & football.  Congrats to the winners of those games.

As usual, the ODAC will be a tough place to play this season but that's what makes it exciting & fun.

GO JACKETS!!!

No shame in losing to Scranton by 2 on their court. Scranton has 18 or more wins for the past 7 seasons.

H-SC started slow (DOWN 0-9) but came back with a 16-2 run.  Washington led one more time during 1st half by 1 and then all over - Final 84-59 - Greg Lewis had 20 (8 of 12 and 4 of 8 for 3 pointers) - new as a driver to add to his 3 point play from last year.  Everyone played but one injured. Riddick looked best as Freshman - good start even with fouls and turnovers.
