long trip home - just appeared tired

I think it's hard for teams to play on Thanksgiving weekend, especially on the road. When I read algernon's comment that this should be an easier game for HSC I hoped he would be right, but feared he could be wrong. CMU plays in the UAA, a very good conference, so they are used to tough competition. Couple that with playing at home and it tends to equalize things somewhat. This could turn out to be a good loss for HSC, just as R-MCs three losses might be blessings in disguise.

I stand corrected.  I knew it was a 20 point CMU run but was not sure how many H-SC scored during that time.

HSCDad

Latest poll - H-SC dropped to 20th with the two losses.  I guess that it could have been worst. VWC moved to 10th at 6-0.  Only other team above them with similar of better record is Cabrini at 6-0 who knocked H-SC out of NCAA last year. Wesley at 17th - beating H-SC helped them move up. CMU not mentioned but they are undefeated. Guilford moved  to 27th.  A lot of early losses by listed teams so this year's NCAA activity should be fun to watch the musical chairs to see who is standing at the end.

Roanoke lost to Washington and Lee last night in OT 87-84, a W and L player knocked down a shot just inside of half court to win it as time expired  :'(

I'll take it. Nice to have the ball bounce our way. :o
If you make every game a life and death proposition, you're going to have problems. For one thing, you'll be dead a lot. Dean Smith

^ Another good reason the Jackets need to be ready tonight in Crenshaw!

GO JACKETS!!!

RMC beats W and L 66-56

Roanoke beats a scrappy Averett team 97-85

ODACATS

Good win tonite for the Randolph Wildcats over a tough Bridgewater squad. Final 65-54 in Lynchburg.

The Marlins won their 7th straight game tonight by defeating Lynchburg 93-66.  Lynchburg  just never got on track and had trouble the whole game.  The Marlins were hot and led by about 30 points most of the game.  DJ Woodmore had a great first half scoring 22 points.  The entire Marlins squad (19) got some good playing time the second half with 15 Marlins scoring. The Marlins broke a long-standing record at VWC pulling down 66 rebounds.  The old record was 61 set back in 1974.  Congratulations to the Marlins on their win.  Next game in 11 days against cross-town rival CNU.  Should be a great game.

Sounds like the Marlins are the class of the ODAC again this year. Hopefully other teams can rally and make the season  interesting.

The Marlins are playing some good basketball.... They had another big win over a tough Lynchburg squad. DJ Woodmore is playing like a man possessed this year. He had another great shooting night scoring 24 points in only 20 mins of action. He was named D3news National player of the month for November and started right where he left off last month. Macedo has this group of marlins rolling and if they keep this up he can pick up his 300th Career win on Dec 19th vs Ferrum. Go Marlins!!!!

300th win !!!! Very impressive. How many years has Coach Macedo been head coach for VWC ?
At this point into the season does not appear the ODAC has a solution to stop VWC. Nobody beats a conference opponent by the margin VWC beat LC and I believe LC was picked middle of the pack preseason.

Great start for Virginia Wesleyan, no doubt, but I think it goes too far to say that "no one has a solution to stop VWC".

HSC is ranked #20, with wins against Mary Washington (5-1) and Springfield (5-1).  It would have been nice to get the win against #17 Wesley (5-0), and it was certainly an upset to lose to Carnegie Mellon (even on CMU's home court and after a long trip to Pittsburgh).  Nevertheless, the Tigers were the ODAC preseason #2 (just below RMC) and are still the national #20 for good reason.

#10 VWC will have a very tough time against HSC, RMC, and Guilford.  They have 2 impressive wins (Salisbury & Emory).  It will be interesting to see how they fare against CNU, their next opponent.

Historically, all the great ODAC teams have hiccups along the way which is always the leveler that makes the conference so exciting.  ;D

This is the start of Coach Macedo's 14th year.  His record is 297-93.  Not too shabby.

Certainly the Marlins will lose some games, but they are off to a good start considering they lost 3 starters from last years squad.  (Astorga, Teasley, and Ford)  No team is unbeatable but this team should win more games than it loses.  Hopefully they will have a shot at the NCAA dance for the 10th straight year.  That would really be an accomplishment, but it way too early to even think about yet.
