Sad bus trip home!  Cannot win games shooting in 30% range - twice in a row and then miss foul shots at the end.  Someone needs to step up and join Khobi with his efforts.  Bridgewater's defense did their job.    ???

Guilford overcame a 39-29 haftime deficit to top the SU Hornets at Shenandoah today.  McCarthy 22, Hopkins 20 and Richardson 16 headline the 7-0, 3-0 Quakers while Green's 23 was tops for SU 3-3, 0-2.  Some stats of note:  GC held the rebounding edge 47-29 and the Quakers were 7 of 8 from the line while SU was 6 of 11, including missing the second half of a one-and-one to tie with 2.2 seconds to go.  Next GC game is versus Methodist next Saturday at Ragan-Brown - first semester exams end next Friday.

On a sad note, I understand GC freshman starter Alston Furr's father Steven Furr succumbed to a heart attack on Tuesday and his service was Thursday.  Kudos to Alston for wishing to travel with the team and play today.  Peace and condolences from your Guilford, ODAC and DIII families.

I think out of Top 25 until this trend reverses.

Roanoke loses to EMU in OT today  81-79.  Nokes defense is pretty terrible no way getting around it, if we could've gotten one stop in OT we probably would've pulled it out.

Congrats on the Quakers season so far.  Looks like HSC's preseason ranking might have been a little too aggressive but they still have time to right the ship. Hopefully the ODAC season will be as exciting and unpredictable as always.

Thanks, tfa.  There have been a couple of close calls (we were 12 down to SU after the first basket of the 2nd half, for example), but it's been fun to watch.  Exams this week and then Methodist, at NCWC and a holiday tournament at RMC.  I'm looking forward to the ODAC schedule and feel lucky to have started 3-0!

We all know how tough the Tigers can be!

ODACATS

Let's go 'Cats! Came back for the win @ Ferrum tonite. Great team D - not to mention a few timely free throws - down the stretch.

Congratulations to Randolph for their win over Ferrum.

Just looked at the Top 25 ... VWC at #6 and Guilford at #23 ... both teams are 7-0.  I hope the Quakers can keep it going ... pleasantly surprised with their results so far.

Cabrini, which beat HSC by 2 points and went on to win 2 more games in the tournament before losing to Amherst, the national champion, in the Elite Eight last year, is now 8-0 ... with a win over St.Mary's ... and is ranked #5 and is even getting 1 first-place vote.  They host Randolph-Macon next week (Wednesday the 18th).

Once again, Randolph-Macon has the toughest non-conference schedule in the ODAC.  They could certainly lose all of their four games:

12/15    vs. Catholic
12/18    at Cabrini
12/28    vs. Birmingham-Southern
12/29    vs. Dickinson

Having said that, I would view the Yellow Jackets as a true underdog only in the game at Cabrini, especially since the other three are in Crenshaw.

Dang. I wish they were playing at B-SC this year. I'd try to make that game.

Guilford's the fourth team at the RMC event.  It's not a tournament, so the Quakers also draw Birmingham-Southern and Dickinson on opposite days from the Yellow Jackets.

ODACATS

Thanks Hasa - Cats still figuring things out minus Colton Hunt - things will get much tougher as we get deeper into the ODAC. Quakers looking strong - I'm a Guilford fan from Maryland and a friend of the big George Neville family.

You're welcome, ODACATS.  I wish Colton Hunt well, but I have to say I'm not sorry to see him graduate.  What a Quaker-killer he was, especially in the ODAC tournament.  Probably Guilford's "reward" for letting an NC kid get away.  lol  Thanks for mentioning George Neville ... I certainly enjoyed watching him play for the Quakers.

Well, I for one, would like to see ALL ODAC teams WIN their non-conference games.  It's great for the ODAC conference overall. I remember when VWC was the underdog in the final four back in 2006-7 and it only made them play tougher.  Good luck to all the ODAC teams in their non-conference games.
