I can't believe that a school with the endowments of RMC is CHARGING $7.99 to watch the game tonight!! How poor is that??  Words cannot describe my anger.

I know nothing about R-MC's endowment, but I totally agree with your feeling. So many ODAC schools live stream their games free, as do many other schools around the country. As an R-MC alum I feel it reflects poorly on my alma mater and I find it embarrassing.

TOTALLY AGREE!! Our alumni fan base would LOVE TO WAtch but won't pay for it!! I'll just listen to Marty!!

Layup at end missed so Guilford won by 2 - Khobi's tap just missed buzzer for a tie- over 50 3 pointers shot tonight
I was there ... it was an exciting game ... I believe the largest lead by either team was 7.  I was worried the Tigers would hit a three to win when they took possession with 13.7 seconds to go down 74-72.  Whew!

An amusing mistake ... the Guilford video broadcast announcer, in announcing the H-SC players, just stated that Sasha Obradovic, who is from Serbia, was "out of Siberia"!

Well, he IS "out of" Siberia. A continent out of it. :)

I didn't hear the broadcast, but I can visualize it.  :)

The college is doing a lot of creative things to fund raise for the athletic program, including a special campaign to fund renovations for the women's basketball locker room. Maybe they could do something similar for the broadcasting of football and basketball games and maybe some other events such as concerts, special speakers, commencement, etc. so they can stream them free. I would rather make a tax deductible contribution for something like that than pay $8.00 a la carte to watch a single event.

I for one am glad I didn't waste my precious $7.99 on that game last night lol

Being at the VWC/RMC game last night and RMC experience showed. They had no breakdowns defensively and dared anyone besides woodmore and clark to beat them. They stayed attached to them and the other marlins had clear lanes to the rim and did not take them. RMC made every big play and won almost every 50/50 ball which seemed to always lead to a basket for the jackets. The Marlins big men missed to many lay-ups and could not stop simon or holmes. I would not be surprised at all to see a rematch between these 2 teams in the odac semis orchampionship. 2 very good and very well coached teams. Not sure if snow was an impact but was very disappointed with the VWC following being only an hour and a half drive. I feel bad for W&L this saturday because we all know what the marlins have done to teams at home following a loss this year..ie beat ferrum 105-64 and beat Randolph 76-46. Lets go Marlins!!!

RMC is probably the richest school in the ODAC,  and yet they are the ONLY school as far as I know to ask fans to pay more than even the NCAA charges to watch a game. I was told by someone who did pay for the honor of watching the game that the quality of the streaming was very poor. I probably would have had a stroke.      AS for the game , from what I understand, the Marlins failed to execute the entire game.  I imagine Coach Macedo pulled out what little hair he has left on his head.   Congratulations to RMC. You deserved the win.

I don't disagree that RMC should probably join the other ODAC schools in offering free video feeds, but I think it's pretty clear that W&L has the largest endowment in the conference.

net worth of W&L exceeds the sum total of all other ODAC schools combined.

GC can't beat HSC in football and HSC can't beat GC in basketball. I don't like to get beat in anything but if I had to choose between the two sports I rather GC beat us in basketball and continue with football as is !!! Good luck Saturday. HSC has to Randolph. They better wake up or they can pack in any chance at a decent seeding in the odac tourney.

TFA's statement is most certainly correct. A review of this document http://www.nacubo.org/Documents/research/2012NCSEPublicTablesEndowmentMarketValuesRevisedFebruary42013.pdf shows that of 831 colleges and universities in the US and Canada W&L has the 57th largest endowment. As for the rest of the ODAC schools (including women only Hollins and Sweet Briar), here's where their size of endowment ranks among the 831 listed.

340 - Randolph
348 - H-SC
366 - R-MC
379 - Roanoke
433 - Sweet Briar
442 - E&H
466 - Lynchburg
500 - Guilford
518 - Bridgewater
557 - Shenandoah
721 - EMU

Only VWC did not appear on the list.

You know, tfa, I wish Guilford had beaten HSC in basketball 14 times in a row, but I remember some pretty good thrashings, especially at Fleet.  The Tigers are certainly athletic and probably stronger in the paint, but the Quakers do have some outstanding three-point shooters and play well as a team.  Guilford has a LOT of youth, so I expect good things out of Quaker Nation for several years.   This year, in fact, we have one Senior (Jake Hopkins) and three Juniors (Matt McCarthy, Will Koppenhaver and Cole Greene).  Sophomore Zeb Richardson is already a force and I expect him to get even better the next two years.  I've seen as many as four freshmen on the court at once during the heart of games - notably Robbie Stokely, Josh Spainhour, Alston Furr, Trever Hyatt, Michael Byrd and Zachary Houston - so Coach Palombo clearly thinks they have talent.
