Good luck around the ODAC tonight.  Hope Coach Davis has got the Jackets ready for a tough venue!

Regarding the Top 25, we had a chance to ask a veteran player about it last weekend & he said they pay no attention whatsoever to the rankings.  He knew their preseason ranking but that was all.  It makes sense for the coaches to de-emphasize something that is so subjective (as the comments above show) with the players.

GO JACKETS!!!

If the ODAC is as goods as advertised the #1 team in the conference should be getting more attention on a national basis based on several factors. Hopefully this will happen sooner than later.

Agreed. But it's also nice to be a "sleeper" going into NCAA tourney time. Last year R-MC got a 2nd round game on the home court of then #4 ranked WPI and won it. This year WPI is currently ranked #3. I think R-MC is a little bit better team this year than last. Maybe WPI is better this year as well. Could history repeat itself?

2RMCFans, baloney the players see this board, and know exactly where they are ranked!

RMC is probably in the driver's seat of hosting at least the opening weekend of the tournament. We will know more next week when regional rankings come out, but their SOS alone is one of the best in the country and that helps to out-weigh the losses. If RMC has home court on the opening weekend, they have a lot going for them. As for the second weekend... that's a complete guess since it all depends on the bracket.

Being in the driver's seat for a chance to host a first round in the NCAAs is nice, now let's hope they don't have an accident before the NCAA tournament starts. Still 6 regular season games to play and hopefully 3 in the ODAC tournament. I have faith in the team, but it's still one game at a time.

Donho,
I agree.  While at HSC from 1996-2000, I learned about this site because some of my coworkers at the college switchboard were basketball players.  I saw them visiting D3hoops often and I started checking it and have been following it since.

Not all of them of course, but coaches and players see their ranking (if applicable), and they read this message board.

As some of you are probably aware, in the football pre-season one of Catholic's players, who had formerly been at W&L, put up a single post acknowledging his switch for football reasons as a senior but his intent to transfer back to W&L to graduate in Lexington after the season.

I think a good number of players do read these boards and that should be something we, as posters, keep in mind. These players in all sports are playing for nothing more than pride and joy and so I try and keep any negative posts away from targeting specific players. My entertainment and amusement, or lack thereof, with a particular team or effort is a reflection on me, not those players who are enjoying playing the game for the right reasons.

Thankfully the ODAC boards in any sport don't seem to suffer from too many posters going after players, so this isn't really a problem, but I like to remind people to keep in mind what you post might be something that a player reads. If you wouldn't say it to his/her face, it probably shouldn't be posted.

*** dang it, someone keep the soapboxes away from me! ***

So at least one current R-MC player of all the "players seeing this board" doesn't want to admit it?  We know him & seriously doubt this particular player was being deceptive so possibly he's the exception?    Our point was it's a very subjective ranking & we hope the students aren't overly influenced by it.  Thanks for your perspective & we're fine with ours.

GO JACKETS!!!

The Jackets handle the Eagles at home tonight and Simon goes over 1000 career points.  Bridgewater played a good 1st half and Ronnie Thomas sure is the real deal, but the Jackets outlast them 76-60.  Thank you Bridgewater for a great broadcast.

VWC and HSC both on the short end of the scoreboard tonight.
Both of these are struggling at  a bad time of the season.

Quakers top a tough Roanoke squad tonight in Greensboro, 75-71.  The Maroons had a 9-point first half lead and an 8-point second half lead, but couldn't hold it.  GC improves to 15-5, 9-2 while RC falls to 9-10, 3-8.

Definitely.  He had quite the game tonight against HSC.

I think it's now safe to say HSC has no shot at an at-large bid ... the Tigers will have to win the ODAC tournament to get in the NCAAs.
