Can't we just talk about BASKETBALL?? You know , what's happening on the COURT??  Stop freakin whinin ' about what we do logistically with our gym and look at what actually happens ON THE COURT!! Jackets DEMOLISH Tigers 90-66!!!! Did u REALLY wanna see that in person??.... It looked pretty good to us.....;-)
Couldn't make it, but why would I whine when every year I could get paid for the ride up, paid to sit one foot from the sideline between the two benches for the duration of the contest, receive a free meal on the ride back, and paid to ride back? ??? I have it made when I travel with a team, I don't have a reason to whine! I didn't even have to pay to watch it online ;)

I would think if hsc could actually sell out their home games then they would limit tickets to opposing teams fans/family/facualty and staff. Guess that's hard to do during a mediocre season.
Assuming the listed attendance for tonight's game is the 1,400 capacity listed on D3hoops.com (since the stats have still ye to be uploaded), R-MC will finish the regular season with an average home attendance of ~577, narrowly ahead of H-SC's average of 543. Tonight would be the only sell out for R-MC this year if they actually filled all 1,400 seats.
Can't edit my post, so I will just quote it. Attendance was listed at 1,330, so that's 70 tickets short of 1,400, so it was not truly "sold out." Macon finishes with an average home attendance of 571, 688 in ODAC games. H-SC 543 overall, 640 in ODAC games.

Big assumption that that 1,400 reflects reality. Reality is what the ever-expanding waistlines of America will bear, as well as the fire marshal, which is how the capacity got cut to begin with!

Pre-fire marshal, this was what RMC-HSC games looked like:

Thanks for the picture Pat. I remember going to four consecutive HSC games from 99 thru 02 where one hour before the game you could get to your seat but could not sit down. You had to stand sideways at your seat because it seemed there were one and a half bodies/tickets for every seat!

R-MC had 3 perfect shooters on the floor last night:  Sr. Jamie Robinson 2-2 for 4, Hunter Fromang 3-3 for 6 and Chris Hamilton 8-8/3-3 for a career high 27.  Hamilton really lit it up last night-- congrats to him-- he put up 11 shots on the night & made ALL of them.  Jackets shot close to 67% but were out-rebounded by the Tigers 32-29.    Simon & Badger combined for 8 of 13 steals- they were fun to watch.

H-SC's K. Williamson had the only double double of the night 17/11 plus a couple blocks.  Quite a solid performance!

From where we sat, it looked like the "usual" H-SC student section of Crenshaw wasn't even close to full.  Maybe some students with tickets didn't come to the game accounting for the attendance at 1330 with a 1400 sell out?  If H-SC students were there, they were VERY quiet.

If Nathan Davis is not COY this season, we'll be shocked.  Congrats to all the R-MC coaches on the 2013-2014 ODAC regular season title.

Hope the Jackets settle down & prepare themselves to get some wins on the road-- in Lexington & Salem!

GO JACKETS!!!

I couldnt make it either. My son had a home playoff game but I listened to it.If you're as close to the action as you say, then you should see something that's blatantly obvious(or at least it SHOULD be) to the rest of us.H-SC is as talented as R-MC ,Guilford, or VWC.They have good facilities and a good academic environment. What they have done consistently all season is BLOW late leads and play poorly down the stretch and lose ALOT of games they should have won.One must surmise that that lack of focus starts at THE TOP.You may beat us, or one of the other two, in the tournament. You may even win it all.You certainly have the talent to do so.What you SHOULDN'T do is try to deflect the obvious shortcomings by griping about NON basketball situations. You have enough to worry about without muddying the obvious flaws......

2RMCFans,
I would think that Hillary Scott at Lynchburg may have the inside track to COY.  He has turned the program around and helped them to make great strides.  I definitely think that Nathan is in the conversation with him though.

BH you may be on to something there. However I prefer Nathan Davis!   Go Jackets!

first time I can remember HSC getting blown out of the gym by anyone, much less by a rival. Need to regroup and figure away to beat RC.

I think there was an ODAC tournament game a few years back when the Jackets beat H-SC by more than they did last night.

As for COY, I expect Coach Davis could care less if he wins it or not. I get the impression that his sole focus is his players and helping them fulfill their potential, play the best they can, and have success in life. And I'm sure that can be said about almost all coaches.

Believe in 2010 the final spread was close to 40 points in macon's favor down in Salem.

Brian Hamilton

HSC definitely got run out of Salem that game.  It was over in the first 4 minutes when were down 19-2.  Macon just continued putting it on us from there.  That was one of the ugliest games I have every personally watched HSC play.

I've looked at the standings and the possible tie-breakers, and a lot of the seeding for the ODAC tournament is already set:

1)  Randolph-Macon - Will play #8 (Bridgewater/HSC) or #9 (Roanoke) in the quarterfinals on Friday the 28th at 1pm.

2)  Winner of the VWC/Guilford game this Saturday.  Will play quarterfinals on Friday the 28th at 6pm.

3)  Loser of the VWC/Guilford game this Saturday.  Will play quarterfinals on Friday the 28th at 8pm.

4)  Lynchburg - Will play #5 EMU or #12 Emory & Henry in the quarterfinals on Friday the 28th at 3pm.

5)  EMU - Will host #12 Emory & Henry on Tuesday the 25th.

6)  Randolph / HSC - Randolph will get the #6 seed unless, this Saturday, they lose their home contest to Shenandoah, Bridgewater loses at Lynchburg, and HSC wins at Roanoke.  That is the only set of outcomes that would give HSC the #6 seed.  Randolph (or HSC) will host #11 Washington and Lee on Tuesday the 25th.

7)  Randolph / HSC / Bridgewater - A Bridgewater win at Lynchburg would give them the #7 seed.  Even if the Eagles lose at Lynchburg, they'll still get the #7 seed unless HSC wins at Roanoke.  In that case, HSC would be the #7 seed if Randolph defeats Shenandoah, or Randolph would drop to the #7 seed if they lose to Shenandoah.  The #7 seed will host #10 Shenandoah on Tuesday the 25th.

8)  HSC / Bridgewater - HSC will be the the #8 seed unless they win at Roanoke and Bridgewater loses at Lynchburg.  That particular set of outcomes would make Bridgewater #8 seed.  The #8 seed will host #9 Roanoke on Tuesday the 25th.

9)  Roanoke - travel to #8 (Bridgewater/HSC) on Tuesday the 25th.

10)  Shenandoah - travel to #7 (HSC/Bridgewater/Randolph) on Tuesday the 25th.

11)  Washington & Lee - travel to #6 (Randolph/HSC) on Tuesday the 25th.

12)  Emory & Henry - travel to #5 EMU on Tuesday the 25th.

I hope that this helps to clarify the seeding and schedule for the tournament.

I agree with Brian Hamilton that Hilary Scott will get coach of the year. RMC was the preseason favorite and wasexpected to be this good. LC has completely turned their program around. POY is really up in the air but i believe will go to andre simon or DJ Woodmore. maybe im biased but i believe freshmen of the year will definitely go to Khory Moore. The kid has will be an all odac performer the next 3 years.

I personally think missing a game at E&H last Wednesday got GC all out of synch.  The Quakers looked "rusty" against BC last Saturday and then had to travel to E&H Monday night for the make-up game.  E&H, by the way, looked like world-beaters against the Quakers and also won over Roanoke last night - how did that team lose 20 straight?  Anyway, "sort of" back on track after another close road game win over LC last night.  Hopefully, that will give some measure of momentum going into Saturday's season-ending/Senior Day/2nd-place-on-the-line game versus our "beloved" rival VWC.  :)  I realize the Quakes lost some games badly, but all in all not a bad season from a team with one Senior and starting and/or playing three or four freshmen much of the season.

To clarify more, if only H-SC and Randolph were to finish tied, H-SC would win the tiebreaker with the 5-point system. If BC, Randolph, and H-SC were to finish tied, Randolph would be the #6 for going 2-1 vs. H-SC and BC, BC would be the #7 for beating H-SC.

And Bridgewater plays at Lynchburg, not at Roanoke.
