the art of preaching, in case anyone wondered...had to look it up myself - i love that i can get my word of the day from hasanova on the odac board :)
Darn, guess that says something for my edumacation! I assumed that "homiletics" refered to a very ugly verision of a vector that can spread Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever.   :-\
Good one, but that is an ugly thought.  Do ticks do that?  I've heard of homophobia and arachnophobia, but I never mated the two together.   :-\

I just wish someone, sometime, somehwere would give some credit to Dave Macedo for being a great coach. Look at his record, look what he did last year. He'll probably never get coach of the year and that's just too bad.

If, and I only say if because there is a lot of basketball to be played, VWC wins the regular season Dave Macedo is COY.  Sure, he returned four starters, but why didn't he get it last year?  Pay the man his due.  But I will guarantee he would throw away all individual honors to get VWC back to the NCAA's.  Oh, by the way he is the winningest coach (pct.) in VWC history.  Not too shaby when you deal with all the thugs from the beach.  I got you jdubyadubya.

Actually I was thinking more in Homile (God awful ugly) and tic (vector). That cross would be pretty bazar though. I guess one better watchout for pink tics in pumps!  :o

Actually, llamaguy, 'homely' is the synonym for 'God awful ugly' (though usually not taken as quite that extreme!), while a 'homily' is a widely understood synonym for a 'sermon' (especially, but not exclusively, among Catholics).  I'm rather appalled that homiletics was not more easily deciphered by this highly educated crowd!  (Or have I missed an inside joke.)

Or am I now sounding like Gregory Sager?  (Greg, THAT'S a joke!) ;)

Justafan02 - I guess VWC will always be known as the thugs at the beach. I enjoyed reading a Guilfordite's comment yesterday that the board seems biased to VA schools. I would have to amend that to say "some VA schools." VWC has never been included among the "elite" and never will be. So be it. We speak with the basketball.

I stand by the "tick" spelling for a disease-carrying vector.  "Tic" with no "k" is a twitching muscle spasm, such as a "facial tic."  Arachnophobia includes ticks (and spiders), since they have eight legs.  Now, back to basketball ..... lol

How many total 3-pointers will be attempted in the Guilford/E&H game tomorrow night?  There were 99 last time (97 by E&H and 2 by GC).

There's a new Top 25 out and my predictions (RMC at #18, HSC at #21, and VWC at #24) were pretty close to the mark, although VWC definitely did not get the recognition the Marlins deserve:

#17 - RMC
#20 - HSC
#31 - VWC

It's interesting that most posters are picking the Marlins to beat the Tigers tomorrow.  It seems that their 11 wins in a row, with a big victory over RMC, is considerably more impressive than HSC's losing 2 of the last 3, with a big loss to RMC.  If they win tomorrow, the Marlins should definitely take the Tigers' place in the Top 25.

If the Tigers beat the Marlins again, they'll move into a tie with VWC for second place in the ODAC.

Exactly.

My picks:

Jan 18--BC, E&H, VWC

Jan 21- BC, H-S, GC, R-M, VWC

Jan 22- R-M, VWC

Stopped by the A-SC this weekend for a "test" drive.  Think it'll work well for the D3Hoops posters.

(Ahem)  I like to be thorough. ;D  The devil is always in the details.

FYI, the A-SC is on Grandin Avenue in SW Roanoke.  Near Patrick Henry High School.  Gotta huge WVU insignia on the building (I am guessing the owner is a big Mountaineer fan).  Definitely a sports bar with a local ownership aura pervading.

Fleet will be rockin' tomorrow night. HSC students report back today and start classes tomorrow! I think it will be an incredible game with numerous lead changes and probably one or two OTs. The Kardiac Kids from the beach meet the Tigers. What fun.
