Playing okay against a very weak team.  FC playing without leading scorer.  Too many turnovers, 12 in first half.  But again, give me a big man on the floor.  Even for a couple of minutes!

^^^ I could only follow live stats and evaluate the box score. Turnovers did appear to be a problem, plus fouls it would seem since FC made 23 free throws -- more than 1/3 of their points. So it looks like good shooting from the field and rebounding are what helped the Jackets win. Would have been nice if they didn't let it get so close at the end. But a win is a win.

Has anyone seen Roanoke play this year? Are they running some modified version of The System or something? Averaging 107 points a game, 32 three point attempts a game, last game their average possession length on a scoring possession was just 8 seconds, only have one player averaging over 21 minutes a game, 10 players averaging 10 minutes a game (okay technically 9.9 minutes but I rounded). Not shooting quite as many 3s or forcing as many turnovers as pure System, hence why I am asking if it's a modified version.

^^ Just glad to get a W!  Hope it will give the guys energy to work hard during the break & be ready at the end of the month.

^ Don't know anything about Roanoke this season.

Wishing a happy holiday season to all around the ODAC.

GO JACKETS!!!!

I'm looking ahead to R-MC's game next Wednesday vs William Peace from Raleigh, NC who are 4-3 with losses to Randolph and Hampden-Sydney and wins against Shennandoah and Bridgewater (by 21 points). The win over Bridgewater is particularly perplexing given that Bridgewater beat Lynchburg a week later. This will be another stiff test for the young Jackets.

I don't know the answer to your question -- haven't caught a game online -- but I looked at one RC box score and I see what you are talking about. They can't be running The System because they aren't using enough players. But they must be playing a very up tempo game and subbing frequently. Seems like the way EMU was playing a few years ago, only RC seems to be putting up even more points.

I have asked Coach Moir... the simple answer is no, not the Grinnell System. The harder answer... I can't really explain it.

HOWEVER... find out Sunday night on Hoopsville... because Page Moir will be my guest that night (exact time to be determined).

Randolph trailed Juniata 34-20 at halftime today, then outscored them 45-19 in the 2nd half to win 65-53. Quite a turn around. And a strong second half for Lynchburg to extend a more modest halftime lead and coast to a W over Goucher.

As we close in on the holiday break, many teams have made some significant moves in the early part of the season. Tonight on Hoopsville, Dave talks to teams who find themselves in good position before some time off, but can they keep up the momentum?

It's quiet in here...seems like a down year for the ODAC.

odac off to a slow start; way too early to declare it to be a down year; however, it does appear to be that way so far.
I know VWC has played some pretty good teams but I'll bet they make a deep run before the season ends. I don't think any one else in the odac has that potential.

I've been busy with the high school season so I haven't been able to see VWC play too much yet. Got to catch a couple mins of the CNU game Sunday though. Knowing Macedo, these guys will hopefully figure it out eventually. This has been one of the more challenging non-conference slates I can remember for VWC. Played Wesley and Salisbury on the road, a top 15 ranked CNU squad at home and still face Emory on Jan 2nd, a team who has had VWC's number as of late so it will definitely be an interesting season for the Marlins. It seems VWC is still searching for that consistent #2 guy as well as a consistent presence in the post.

Down by 20 to a girl's school, could be the worst half of RMC basketball in 40 years.  Embarrassing!
