Down by 20 to a girl's school, could be the worst half of RMC basketball in 40 years.  Embarrassing!

From the stats it looks the Jackets are hitting free throws but not field goals -- 0 for 11 on threes. Mike Silverthorn didn't play in the first half. Wonder what's up with that.

Wow, VWC goes down as well.  Looks like a down year for the typical leaders in ODAC.

Over in the multi-regional topics section there is a place where someone tracks how each conference does against D3 non-conference opponents. Most years the ODAC is in the top 10 of the 44 D3 conferences in how it fares against teams from other D3 conferences. This year the ODAC is #18 with a 31-25 record against D3 schools from other conferences as of 12/7. Obviously that needs to be updated, but yesterday's two losses didn't help.

EMU ends 2015 part of the schedule at 6-4.  Not too bad for what in essence is a JV eligible team.  I still think they will knock off a few favored teams along the way.  http://www.emuroyals.com/sports/mbkb/2015-16/releases/20151219vfymvu

ODAC still at #18 after games played through Sunday 12/20, with a 41-33 record vs other D3 conferences.

Good win by Lynchburg College yesterday, but LaGrange gave that game away.  You do realize that LaGrange College has been to the NCAA Tournament the last two years.  It is a program on the rise.

ODAC may not appear to be as mighty as in previous years, but my goodness there is some elite three point shooting going on.

H-SC ranks 4th nationally in three point percentage, R-MC is 8th, Roanoke 10th, and E&H 16th. Roanoke's new Duggar Baucom style offense finds them ranking 4th in D3 in threes made per game while EMU is 15th.

Individually, Jake Duncan of H-SC is first in D3 in three point percentage at 61.2%, John Shelor (E&H) 17th at 52%. Duncan's percentage ranks third across all NCAA divisions. He is also 18th in threes made per game. He's made at least three triples in every regular season game other than W&L who did a heck of a defensive job and shut him out from beyond the arc, also one of just two games where he shot under 50% from three (the other he was 42.9%).

The following two guys haven't made enough 3s to rank nationally, but Joey Miller (roanoke) is at 60.9% and Andrew Evans (H-SC) is at 57.9%. In total, nine student-athletes shooting at least 50%, 24 at least 40%.

For any R-MC fans concerned about the won/loss record so far this year, former head coach Nathan Davis isn't faring too well at Bucknell right now: http://www.bucknellbison.com/SportSelect.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=32100&SPID=137628&SPSID=810386&DB_OEM_ID=32100

I notice Mike Silverthorn is wearing uniform #14 tonight for R-MC instead of #2. Is that a permanent change? If so the roster needs to be updated.

Plus, two more leave the squad, including Rip Engel.  What's going on?

Hadn't noticed that. I wondered why Engel wasn't playing. Looks like Marquis Davis is the other one who's gone. Leaves the Jackets pretty short of guards.

Nice to get a win, even if it's against a young team from a small enrollment school fairly new to D3. Always hard to get a good sense of the game on the poor quality video, but it seems clear the Jackets will be a work in progress all season.

CMR

RMC has to improve quickly to have a winning season.  And, losing a sometime starter such as Engel doesn't help.  There's plenty of talent, but it's not producing, especially on the defensive end.  Good luck the rest of the way!

CMR

Fifth player has left the RMC program - 6-8 Soph Charlie Hills

CMR

Jackets up 36-11 over a very good Wesley team, best half of the year!!!!

CMR

Jackets hang on for 10 point win.  It was a game of attrition, with 4 players injured on the bench by the end of the game.  2 coming into the game and two during the game.
