We go from one of the best officiated games in ODAC history (RMC/HSC) to the worst officials in ODAC history.  This crew working today in Crenshaw needs to be fired.

Always embarrassing losing to Randolph.  Best announcers in the ODAC, but the video is the worst, that's embarrassing as well.

Could only follow live stats while at a game, but Mike Silverthorn taking zero three point shots in 21 minutes suggests that Randolph had a good defensive plan for him and that might have had as much to do with the outcome as the officials. Lamont Moore with another outstanding game.

Why is it embarrassing to lose to Randolph? They are coached by a guy well respected in the ODAC and the program has clearly proven to be a very good one.

My guess would be that it is a residual 'baby sister' bias.  Randolph was Randolph-Macon Women's College until 2007, founded by the president of Randolph-Macon College in 1891.  Having your 'baby sister' grow up and beat your butt is embarrassing! 8-)

I know the history, Ypsi.  ;)

I just didn't think many posting here who appear to be "young" would have understood that relationship since the transition happened awhile ago now. But maybe CMR is older than he/she looks. LOL

BINGO!!!

flightless bird fan

Two very close loses by EMU to start the 2016 part of the year.  Bound to happen with this young of a team, still disappointing.  Hope they can right the ship in the coming month .

So it appears Roanoke College is the team to beat. Who would have thought that to be the case 2 months ago ?
I'll wager VWC will make a run before it is all said and done. Record of 10-6 as a real shot to win the regular season.
as always, anything can happen in the odac tourney. will be fun to watch it play out.

I wasn't real high on Roanoke until they won at VWC...their best win by far, even though a win against VWC this season isn't as impressive as usual.

A win in the Fish Tank is a win in the Fish Tank. It helps get over a mental hurdle!

Interesting article about Coach Rhoades:

http://americansportsnet.com/tragedy-transformed-rice-mens-basketball-coach-mike-rhoades/

Interesting article indeed, and interesting that he recognizes and admits his shortcoming at R-MC. And since he has done so I will share something. I was back in Ashland in 2007 (I think) for that tournament between Christmas and New Years. At halftime of the R-MC game the Jackets led by nearly 20 points. I went to the restroom, which was right next to the men's locker room and heard Rhoades screaming at his players at the top of his lungs. I could not understand what he was upset about. The Jackets had played a great first half. Three years later, in the fall of 2010, I drove over to Crawfordsville, IN when the Jackets played in a Thanksgiving tournament at Wabash College. It was Nathan Davis' 2nd season as coach. I met and chatted with some parents of Jacket players and asked about the new coach. All the parents said the players liked him and one of them volunteered the comment "he doesn't yell at them". I knew exactly what that meant.

The line between very demanding and overly demanding can be a mighty thin and delicate line to navigate. Not just for the team as a whole, but each individual student-athlete. Some kids just don't respond to screaming, others thrive off it. Even the team's ability to respond to the screaming can change year to year even with the nucleus of the team being virtually the same. Certainly don't envy that aspect of being a coach!
