Wow, what a game between Lynchburg and Roanoke...nice win, hasa.
Thanks, Swish3.  I checked at the half (down 27-29) and after it was over ... really pleased with this road win.  I think the ODAC tournament is wide open ... GC games with all our ODAC opponents were close ... poor FT shooting cost the Quakers a few wins.   I think there is a lot of parity this season.

Wild night in the ODAC indeed
DeWayne, were you able to attend the GC at VWC game (71-60)?  If so, what was the overall flow of the game?  I heard after the Marlins hit a three to go up 32-27 to start the 2nd half, the Quakers went on a 19-1 run and then hit 5 of 6 FTs down the stretch after VWC pulled within 66-60.

I would love to know who owns the tiebreakers if certain teams finished tied in the standings.
First tiebreaker is always head-to-head result(s).

Totally agree, hasa...the ODAC doesn't have any dominant teams this year, but it's extremely competitive from top to bottom.  There are a few, maybe even several, teams that have a legitimate chance to win the conference tournament...

If there are only a few teams with a chance to win the tourney, that would indicate there is not much parity in the league, right ? If seen only three games this year HSC vs. Guilford, HSC vs. RMC and HSC vs. W&L, I can't honestly tell you either team was better than the other in either of those games. I think it all comes down to the three ball, the team hitting the 3 on any given night is going to win. You can't win without it in today's game. This observation is coming from a football guy so take it for what it is worth, probably nothing.

Honestly, any team that gets hot for 3 or 4 games could win it. No team has been shown the propensity to win (or lose) every game it theoretically should on paper.

I would expect a bit more of a lively crowd for the tournament this year with Roanoke getting back to the Civic Center and being a pretty good team at that. I don't think they've made it to the Civic Center for the tournament in at least two years and it's been even longer than that since the Maroons were a high seed. Should make it a bit more interesting from that aspect.

The top 4 would probably have the best chance to win it, which is "a few"...although not quite as likely as the top 4 to win it, the next 4 or 5 could potentially win it, which would be "several", in total.  Maybe I should have just used "several" to begin with?

No I wasn't there, just saw the score afterwards

There isn't that much time left in the regular season as teams continue to fight to get into conference tournaments and position themselves for hopefully NCAA tournament bids. Second round of Regional Rankings are also out with plenty of answers... and questions. Plus, some teams are putting on some shows recently including a lot of buzzer beaters!

On Thursday night's Hoopsville, Dave McHugh rolls up his sleeves and takes a look at what is happening as we head into the last ten days of the regular season. McHugh will also get some insight on Wednesday's insane men's basketball game between Lynchburg and No. 21 Roanoke. Plus, get a preview of the NESCAC men's and women's tournaments along with talking to ranked teams on both the men's and women's side.

Hoopsville hits the air at 7:00 pm ET and promises to go at least 2 1/2 hours. You can watch the show here: http://www.d3hoops.com/hoopsville/archives/2015-16/feb18

Guests scheduled (in order of appearance):
- Alex Graves, Lynchburg senior forward
- Howard Herman, Berkshire Eagle, NESCAC tournaments preview
- Brian Morehouse, No. 3 Hope women's coach
- Bill Broderick, No. 16 Christopher Newport women's coach
- Tom Curle, No. 23 Plattsburgh State men's coach
- Eric Bridgeland, No. 9 Whitman men's coach

As I understand the tie-breakers, the following is the seeding between the 4 teams tied for 5th at 8-8 after the games today:

#5 Emory & Henry
#6 Randolph
#7 Randolph-Macon
#8 Hampden-Sydney

Brian Hamilton

Seedings have been posted on ODAC site and Algernon was correct on seedings.  HSC will host Bridgewater for the rubber match on Tuesday.  I looked at the tiebreaker and they use only games versus the ones you are tied with.  My only problem with this is not everyone played the same number of games and HSC was the only team that had more games on the road.  This is one of the problems with the unbalanced schedule where everyone doesn't play everyone twice.  Playing everyone twice isn't an option though because that is too many games.

Congrats to David Wilson and E&H.  He has done a nice job in Emory of turning that program around and getting them competitive.  I would think he would have to be considered for COY.  It's setting up to be an interesting tourney.  Potential matchups in Salem:

Lynchburg - HSC (competitive game at HSC earlier)
GC - E&H (split during the regular season)

VWC - RMC (Macon beat VWC in their only game)
RC - RC (Randolph beat Noke in their only game)

Still have to see if the 5-8 seeds get through to Salem, but those are interesting matchups if they do.

Going to be some interesting games Tuesday. Especially considering three of the matchups will be repeats of matchups today: SU at E&H, BC at H-SC, W&L at Randolph. Opponents and location are the same. That's A LOT of time on the bus for the Hornets in 4 days.

Kinda crazy it worked out that way.

What's up with BC ... 34 points on Saturday and now a rematch Tuesday with the same HSC team ... have they thrown in the towel for 2016 or was it just one of those days?

Is the odac tourney well attended in Salem ?
