D-MAC, I wasn't 'looking around', as the VWC team was between myself and the Flag, thus in my line of sight, and likewise why I didn't see the RMC players.  All disrespect (to me), individual or team, is disrespect.  While I don't condone the individual RMC players, I see an orchestrated and organized team show of disrespect at a higher level.  Maybe I'm too old to know otherwise.  I respect your opinion, but I'll keep mine.

"Looking around" was a general statement of looking at what is around you even if it is right in front of you.

And I guess I don't understand what you find disrespectful. And if this is disrespectful, I suspect a vast majority of visiting teams you find disrespectful. Outside of Navy walking in the doors and playing a game, have you seen anyone do it to what appears to be a rather high standard? Outside of their hands on each other's shoulders and standing in a line, assume quietly, what did they do that was so disrespectful?

Getting back to basketball. One thing I noticed from the box score of last night's R-MC/VWC game is the bench contributions. VWC had 70 minutes, 11 points and 13 rebounds from 8 players (only three of whom scored) off the bench. R-MC had 103 minutes, 31 points, and 17 rebounds from six players (four of whom scored) off the bench. I'm sure VWC has gotten better contributions from its bench in other games, but last night the Jackets' bench stands out -- as it has in several other recent games. That seems like a key to success if it continues.
Agreed, this RMC team goes 10 deep easily, often putting a completely new 5 on the floor.  As harsh as I was on this team earlier, they've really worked hard and have played tough over the last few games.  Beat HSC, and things look even better.

Thank you. Now we can talk about basketball on this board

As a neutral 20 years removed from the ODAC circles, it looks bad on both teams, and the officials.  I do seem to remember the two teams involved in the ODAC title game in 93??? when there were "That's alright, that's OK, y'all work for us some day"  chants aimed at VWC, but there would be few current players who would be aware of that.  I was hoping some of the conversations would be about the EMU solid win over the Eagles.  http://emuroyals.com/sports/mbkb/2016-17/releases/20170104x5azik

Hard to talk about a team I know nothing about and a game I didn't see. I just read the recap. I had no idea EMU and Bridgewater were such rivals.

You know, the relationship between starters and reserves at many schools, including Guilford, has changed in my lifetime.  When I was in college, most college and pro teams had five starters who were clearly the best and maybe one to two key subs.  The term "sixth man" had real meaning as a player who could come off the bench and carry a team when needed.  Many teams now seem to have 9 or 10 interchangeable players who get fairly equal amounts of time ... and stats.  Often, the honor of starting goes to a senior who has been with the team through thick or thin.  It's not unusual at Guilford, for instance, to see 30 or more "bench" points and a reserve with game high stats.

^^^ So very true. Seems these days that the team whose bench performs the best comes out on top in many games

And this may be what has plagued VWC last year-this year. Their starting 5 is as good as anyone in the ODAC, but those 5 can't play 40 mins a game. They have to find another scorer other than Khory Moore. Watching this VWC team and comparing them to past teams, this team doesn't look to have that guy who could come off the bench and score 20. Need to continue to build depth

CMR

Great observation, HASA, and I totally agree.  So, the question is, over time has the top 5 dropped in quality, or has the 2nd 5 improved on average?  Or, has the speed of the game forced every one to play more players.?  I could argue that it's a combination of all three.

Any ODAC postponements today due to weather.  At least one women's game was moved to last night instead of today.

VWC played yesterday because of anticipated weather here in Hampton Roads, beating W&L in the Batten Center.... it's pretty SPORTY here right now!

Yeah, the Marlins hosted the Quakers yesterday in the women's game I cited.
