I doubt there's any correlation, but things did turn around after the Averett game.  But, you've got my permission to give the HSC coach a hard time!

New men's Top  25 is out ... two ODAC teams getting votes ... Guilford with 16 points and Lynchburg with 14.  I think RMC and VWC, et al, are good teams, but it's difficult to get votes when you have 5 and 4 losses, respectively.

Looks to me like it says Lycoming, not Lynchburg.
Oops.  Mea culpa.  You are correct.  +1

Final:  Guilford 77, Randolph 60 in Lynchburg.

Shhh.  Guilford has quietly won 7 in a row and, at 12-2 (5-0 ODAC), is tied for first with RMC.

Three Quakers in double figures:  Curry (21), Thompson (19) and Reyer (10).  Combined, they were 21 of 29 from the field.  Randolph was led by Fields (14) and Jacoby (10).  In addition, Stephens had 9 points on 3 of 5 shooting for GC.  All told, these four Quakers put up 59 points on 24 of 34 shooting from the field ... good thing, since the rest of the team was 5 of 27.

Quakers host BC on Saturday and the WildCats (4-10, 1-4) travel to W&L.

Not sure what it was like in Crenshaw, but watching online it didn't seem like there was much energy in the place, either on the court or in the stands (in spite of the big crowd) until the final 2 minutes. The game ended the same way as the Mary Washington game with Noe making the game winning basket, only against MW there was less time left. Also, both games had the same final score., 49-47 Take wins however you can. Congrats R-MC.

Agreed, it was a strange game, neither team could do anything right offensively.  It wasn't a game of someone making good plays, but a game of the other guy making lots of mistakes.  Overall, it was just bad basketball on both sides.  The only good play was the Jackets in the last 4 minutes, a couple of big threes and some steals.  But, even then, they missed key FTs.  The whole game was a mess.  But, as you said, a win is a win, especially against HSC.

CMR

But I would add, kudos to Noe, he's hit at least three game winning FGs, and typically draws the 5 on the defensive end, often giving up several inches.  Tough defense, and cool under pressure!!

Congrats on the win. I got calls from both HSC and RMC friends, they all said the game is awful and hard to watch.  Sounds like RMC played better the last 2 or 3 minutes of the game = victory. This might be a very long season for the Tigers. still time to turn it around but time is getting close.

A well-played and entertaining game to watch today, especially the 2nd half. Both teams hitting clutch 3s. Roanoke's zone was tough for R-MC to deal with. RC's #12 was very effective at the top of the zone. It didn't seem like the Jackets had +19 advantage on the boards (RC had zero offensive rebounds) or that RC took 15 FTs and made 14, which appears to be what kept them in the game. Kudos to the Jackets. Well done.

Final Guilford 64, Bridgewater 48 in Greensboro

After a sluggish start and an 11-24 deficit after 13 minutes, the Quaker pulled to 21-24 at the half and then built several 18-point second half leads en route to a 64-48 ODAC win over Bridgewater.  BC led by Saylor with 13 and GC led by Long with 23.  Guilford has won 8 in a row.

The Quakers (13-2, 6-0) travel to E&H on Jan. 18 while the Eagles (5-10, 2-4) host VWC.

As noted in the d3hoops.com roundup:

"Outside the Top 25, Randolph-Macon beat Roanoke 77-71 to stay perfect in ODAC play. The Yellowjackets [sic] hit 15 three-pointers with five from Sean Ryan and four from Grayson Midulla. Guilford is also undefeated in the ODAC after the Quakers pulled away from Bridgewater (Va.) 64-48. Because the ODAC plays an unbalanced schedule, Randolph-Macon and Guilford will only play once and not until February 11."

Checking the schedule, the Quakers play VWC once and RMC once, both in Greensboro, E&H home and away and LC once on the road.  Should be an interesting five weeks.

Good luck the rest of the way. Does not appear HSC will be in the conversation yet again, unless they go on an unbelievable roll the remainder of the season. Not seen them play but they must be really struggling. I wish the level of play the odac b'ball was once known for would return. Don't know if that is possible but it sure was fun watching odac advance to final four; GC, VWC, RMC & HSC, RC back in the day.

H-SC hasn't been the same since Shaver left...I will say, though, you don't replace a coach of his caliber very easily.

tigerFanAlso2

You're correct, Tony has been gone 15 years and we still have not found his caliber. Some coaches cannot be replaced, I'm certain he is one of those.
