Final HSC 64, Guilford 58

Duncan and Crute could not miss from 3 point range.  Congratulations to the Tigers ... not sure why they always get up for the Quakers.

Shocking result, at least for me. Happy the Tigers finally but it together. Good luck to the Quakers the remainder of the season. Maybe the odac is about to get crazy again.

Dave 'd-mac' McHugh

On almost any night you can expect there is something to talk about in Division III basketball. From upsets to dominating results, when thousands of games are being played there never is a moment that goes by that shouldn't be discussed.

That's what we hope to do on Hoopsville every show.

Sunday night is no different. There are plenty of upsets to discuss along with figuring out just exactly who are the best teams in the country. Sometimes that discussion means talking to those who won, those who lost, and those who are helping determine conference races.

On Sunday's show, Dave talks to several teams who are in the conversation around the country. From a men's team who ended a 72-game conference winnings streak to another men's squad whose undefeated conference run ended. Also, a women's squad who is already having the best season in four years and another being led by a man who has overcome more than most do and trying to lead by examble by staying focused despite his battled with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder.

Dave will also update a few items voted on this week at the NCAA Convention that will affect basketball starting next season.

You can watch Hoopsville live or watch it on Facebook Live (simulcast):  http://www.d3hoops.com/hoopsville/archives/2016-17/jan22. If you missed the show live, you can watch the video On Demand in the same manner or listen to or download the podcast (available when the show concludes).

Don't forget to contribute to the new "Hoopsville Mailbag" segment. Email questions you may have to hoopsville@d3hoops.com. Dave will answer them on air tonight or on a future show.

Guests scheduled to appear (in order of appearance):
- Michael Coppolino, Mount St. Mary women's head coach
- Paul Culpo, Castleton men's coach
- Derek James, MacMurray women's coach - WBCA Center Court
- Ryan Kane, Ripon men's coach
- Tom Palombo, Guilford men's coach

Final Guilford 72, Lynchburg 60 at Lynchburg

Video was so spotty for me I only got to watch a minute or so here and there, so I don't know completely what happened ... but I do know LC was ahead 13-0 after about 2 1/2 minutes and then Guilford was up by 18 points about 13 minutes later and led 36-22 at the half.  Looks as though Henderson was the key for GC with 26.  Barnett had 24 for LC.

The Quakers (15-3, 8-1) entertain VWC (13-5, 6-3) on Saturday and the Hornets (10-8, 4-5) travel to Bridgewater (5-13, 2-7).

Didn't get to watch R-MC at VWC, but I notice that Khory Moore was not in the box score for the Marlins. That may explain the 76-57 score but not the outcome. Happy the Jackets got the win. Hope Moore is okay.

Moore not playing was a huge loss for the Marlins...the Jackets on a very nice roll...with some R-MC fans calling for Merkel's head recently, I'm sure he's enjoying this run!

Reading the recap, it looks like GC scored 26 straight to go up 26-13.  After 2 points by LC, the Quakers ran off 7 more to take a 33-15 lead.  That, as they say, was the ballgame.

There was an altercation (not started by VWC, have to put that out there bc I know how this board can get lol) during the Shenandoah game last Saturday that led to a 1 game suspension for the players involved. He'll be back Saturday vs Guilford

VWC announcer said Moore was suspended for violation of team rules.

DeWayne- I wasn't inferring anything by that I just didn't know- I live over in Franklin and The Pilot usually does a great job covering VWC and it was curious that there was no mention.... He's a great player and I was just wondering why your best player wasnt playing against us....That's all

No offense taken RMC1982. Just had to throw it out there. A disclaimer if you will  ;)

The whole situation was weird. There was a stoppage in play due to something happening in the stands which led to a fan being thrown out of the gym, then the fracas happened. Don't know if anyone saw the write ups for both teams but both benches cleared, which led to both benches being ejected, which led to a 5 on 5 game with no subs for last 3 minutes left in the game. It was pretty entertaining considering both teams had players with 4 fouls on the court.

And CMR, I wouldn't be too surprised, seeing as how the last time VWC got in an altercation, it was started by the other team  8-)

Also, to any RMC fans who streamed the game online yesterday, did you have to pay to watch it? Maybe my link was messing up but I couldn't watch without having to pay $6.95, which I wasn't willing to do since RMC was up big when I was finally free

RMC would probably have won anyway, but that was a break for the Yellow Jackets in this close ODAC race.  Rules are rules.
