I think W&L got to surprise almost everyone 1 time through the league. Not looking so pretty on the repeats!
I think Guilford let the game in Greensboro get away after leading 49-34 at the half, but I have to give W&L credit for putting up 60 after the break.  In contrast, the Generals looked hot today at the start hitting their first four threes, but cooled off considerably midway through the first half.  I remember looking at the scoreboard and seeing 23 points for W&L, but 21 of them were off seven made threes.  GC dominated in the paint and on the boards.  The Generals were also a little off at the FT line today ... I remember watching Murtha start 2 of 7, but he finished a respectable 7 of 14.  Your theory of second time through the order may hold true.  Good luck to W&L next time out.

Two matchups today between top 6 teams -- GC at W&L and BC at E&H. RMC will need to bounce back from its home loss to EMU and beat Randolph to stay in at least a tie for second. If that happens, and GC wins, the Jackets will be alone in second.
You're alone in 2nd.

Yes. Thank you, GC.

The jury is still out on that. They beat HSC twice (though barely the second time), have the split with GC, with second games at BC, at Roanoke (who they lost to the first time), and home vs RMC to go.

The big question for the conference now is: Will anyone beat E&H?

RC plays them at home on Wednesday. They lost by 2 about a month ago, so we have a shot.

I think you're right, seatfiller.

^^^ Of E&H's six remaining games four are against the five teams immediately below in the standings. But It's worth considering what will happen to the ODAC's chances to get two teams into the NCAAs if E&H loses too many of those AND goes out early in the ODAC tournament. Best case for two bids is for E&H to lose no more than one more game and then lose in the finals of the tournament. So, in that scenario, I'd like RMC to beat them twice. 😊

First, congratulations to E&H on their #19 national ranking in this week's DIII Top 25 poll.  Looking through the list, their 18-1 record is third in winning percentage to Whitman and Wittenberg's identical and perfect 19-0 records.   With that said, I think the Wasps will lose at least one ODAC game in the regular season.  Call it a hunch.

I agree, that national ranking puts a even bigger target on their back now. They still have to play at Roanoke, at Macon and Guilford at home. They also play their last regular season game at EMU who will want to send out Coach Kirby Dean right.

Three of the top four teams in the conference on the road tonight -- E&H at Roanoke, RMC at SU, and W&L at BC. I was about to say that Roanoke had come closest of any team to beating E&H with It's two point loss, mentioned above by hasanova and Seatfiller, then I noticed that SU took the Wasps to OT before losing by 5 on 12/2 -- the first conference game of the season. In the other game of a top four team GC is home vs HSC. Lurking right behind is VWU in 5th and home vs EMU.

RC beats E and H 76-68. First half looked like E and H would blow RC out as they got up by 14 points early (Killed RC on offensive boards), E and H took a 8 point lead at the half. Second half RC's defense was the best it had been all season and RC quickly tied the game by the 15 minute mark. For the next 5 minutes the lead went back and forth until RC was able to go on a 10-2 run to claim the lead for good. Overall very good game, E and H is a very good team it's easy to see why they hadn't lost in the conference. After watching this game though I believe that any of the top 6 teams (besides W and L) could win the tourney. If i had to bet on any team right now I'd say RMC.

Congratulations to tonight's winners ... but especially RoC and BC.  Makes the next 2 1/2 weeks very interesting.

I attended tonight's HSC at GC game, won by the Quakers 80-64.  The Tigers were fairly competitive for about 10 or 12 minutes, then the Quakers began to control the game and led 47-39 at the half.  With 2:45 to go, GC had a 77-54 lead and the deep bench finished it out for the Quakers.

With five wins in a row, the Quakers improve to 12-8, 8-3 while HSC falls to 5-15, 2-9.

Congrats on the win.

Will HSC or Randolph finish last in the conference ? Still have not seen HSC play put I hear it's not pretty.

Good luck to your Quakers through the odac tourney.

Thanks, tfa2.  With 8 losses, the Quakers will have to win the ODAC tournament to advance to the NCAAs.  Fortunately, the team is playing well at the moment.

I've seen HSC play three times this season ... one win and two losses.  With earlier wins over Concordia (TX) and Emory, I think there was reason for optimism this season.  The Tigers played reasonably well in the first half last night, but shot very poorly after the break.  In my opinion, I think the best shots for a HSC victory are the next two games:  at EMU and at home versus Randolph.  The last three regular season games plus drawing a high seed in the ODAC tournament would appear to be a very tough task.  I hope the Tigers can finish strong and enter the off-season with some renewed optimism.

You're too nice !!!!

A strong finish for HSC would be refreshing/provide hope for next season.

No reason to pile on ... all teams go through cycles.  Besides, I know what can end up on an opponent's bulletin board!
