R-MC lost an exhibition game at D2 Virginia State yesterday 75-67. The Jackets shot 39 three pointers and took 32 two pointers against what appears to be a taller team (four guys 6'7" - 6'9" logged 10+ minutes for VSU). Twelve made threes (vs seven for VSU) is probably what kept the score as close as it was.

This looks like RMC is gonna be a force to be reckoned with this year. VSU is a top 10 D2 team in the country going into the year. ODAC looks to be a battle like always

Let's hope so. This year's seniors are as numerous and about as seasoned as any senior class since the 2010-11 group. Plus a couple of good guards who are underclassmen. The thing that might be lacking is experienced height in the post.

On further reflection, the 2014-15 senior class was probably similarly experienced.

The Quakers lost an exhibition game to DI High Point Tuesday night, 81-45 ... size and quickness wore them down.  I expect more of the same today as GC travels to Iowa City to take on the Iowa Hawkeyes.  Can't wait for DIII competition to start.  lol

It's coming soon!  Roanoke is #1 in the preseason predictions, we have a target on our back now.

I notice Ferrum, a new member to the ODAC, is not included in the ODAC pre-season poll????

Does this mean that Ferrum's games vs ODAC opponents will not be counted as conference games?
or
They will count, but Ferrum is not eligible for a Conference Tourney spot
or
simply an oversight and Ferrum is full-fledged..

Thanks for an answer!!!
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

They are there -- #13. Scroll down to the bottom of this article and you'll see the poll: http://www.odaconline.com/sports/mbkb/2018-19/releases/110118-mbkb-preseasonpoll

When you see the poll on the ODAC homepage or the ODAC men's hoops page the date at the bottom of the graphic -- November 1, 2018 -- covers up Ferrum's #13 ranking. I'm pretty sure they are regular members of the conference in all sports and eligible for all tournaments and to represent the conference in post-season tourneys.

Great to see you posting here. Join in any time!

^^^ Your post got me to wondering why Ferrum was picked 13th. Last season they were 6-19 overall and 1-5 against ODAC teams. The win came in the first game of the season, 70-66 over Randolph. Probably reasonable to predict that they will finish near the bottom of the conference this season.

Yep, GC opens regular season play at Methodist next Friday.  Meanwhile, the Quakers got rolled (as expected) 103-46 today at Iowa.

While at SU  for football yesterday, I walked through the Wilkins Center ... impressive facility, but the indoor track makes it appear cavernous for basketball.  It will be interesting to see how it affects players' shot perception on jumpers.

I've learned over the years, players adapt damn quickly (and they were playing for a little part of last season).

We talk about that both in Vegas and in Salem over the years. You can see where shooters seem to struggle at first ... but then figure it out. It also is weirdly timed ... sometimes they start fine and fall apart later. However, by the second game in both sites ... shooters are acting like it's no big deal.
