Tough game last night. Seems GC will need to win ODAC tourney to extend their season. I believe that can happen.

I spoke to a friend that attended the RMC game last night; he indicates RMC could have beat HSC 60 if they wanted to; go figure.

wonder if the new administration cares about athletics and/or if admissions/financial packages are different from what they once were ?
not saying I have a clue but something has changed in our athletic department; football is on the decline, basketball already near the bottom of D3, don't follow other sports but I don't think they are anything more than average. Stay tuned, maybe this nightmare will correct itself sooner than later.

I think some other sports are actually making improvements.  Lacrosse near top of ODAC after winning it a few years ago.  Tennis back near top, and baseball now back steadily in top half to upper part of league.  I think H-SC is going to struggle in their recruiting profile as long as tuition keeps climbing. We are expensive and we have to hit a certain niche recruiting and financial aid wise.  W&L could use same excuse with expense and limits academically (more exclusive than H-SC) but we don't recruit nationally to make up for it.  Something is going have to change inside athletics.  To be a top flight D3 athletic program in 2019, you're having to veer a lot more into looking like a D1 program facility wise and how you run your program.  Not to heap praise on KDU but they are doing things right athletically speaking.

Yeah, tfa2, it was.  I drove up to Roanoke Wednesday night, but the second half was all Maroons.  Guilford led 31-30 at the half, but a 19-2 run by Roanoke to open the second half sealed the deal.  It's funny, I've heard Roanoke described as a Jekyll and Hyde team and it is certainly true vs Guilford ... against the Quakers they look like the GS Warriors on threes!  With 6 losses, I do think winning the ODAC tournament is our best shot.  If we don't win it, GC will have at least 7 losses.

Seriously you don't know what you're going to get out of Roanoke each night.  At the beginning of the season we lost to a team I would consider not better than Ferrum, but then we beat a great team in Guilford.  It's a very frustrating thing to watch, we have the potential to win ODACs, but we also have the potential to lose in the first round.

You're not alone ... GCQ lost to a terrible Greensboro team early in the season when we blew a 15-point second half lead.  And trust me, Guilford hates losing to Greensboro in any sport.

Long time gone, but guess who's back... :)

Left H-SC and the sports information field about a month ago. I still do some freelance work on the side at games when I can but I'm done with working in college athletics for a career for the time being.

"We're completely surrounded-Excellent!...Now we can attack in any direction!'....Chesty Puller, USMC

With the win today and only one game left R-MC is regular season ODAC champs and #1 seed in the tournament. But with a week off before playing at EMU, who they lost to twice last season, I hope there is no let down next Saturday. The zone EMU played last season really bothered the Jackets. So if they have to face it again....

Congratulations to the Yellow Jackets.  RMC is a fine team.

Meanwhile, Guilford has not locked up sole possession of 2nd, but, at 11-3, we have a two game lead over three teams tied at 9-5 and a 1 1/2 game lead over Lynchburg, which is 10-5.  With our final two games at home, I think we will finish alone in 2nd.

Yesterday, the Quakers rebounded from Wednesday's loss at Roanoke by decisively defeating BC 77-53 on the road.  The Eagles were out of it early and trailed 49-22 at the half.  I was worried going in since BC had won 5 in a row.

Congrats to RMC for winning the regular season and earning #1 seed. (damn, that didn't hurt too much)

For fun and giggles, does anyone know where I can find the record # of straight losses in ODAC history ? HSC has to be getting close, if not already there with 15 straight losses.

Good luck to all this week. Finish strong and free from injury. Lets see if we can't get 2 ODAC teams in the big tourney.

Lynchburg lost 22 straight 87/88 through 88/89. They lost 17 straight to end 87/88. Lynchburg also lost 13 straight to end 06/07 and then lost 6 more to start 07/08.

W&L lost 18 straight to end 96/97. W&L also lost 22 straight to end 04/05 and start 05/06. 04/05 included an 0-18 year in the ODAC, but the non-conf wins prevented the consecutive loss streak from getting really ugly.
