The Quakers host NC Wesleyan today at 4 pm.  The Battlin' Bishops dropped a 75-68 game to UMHB yesterday on Guilford's home court.

I just noticed that both the R-MC men's and women's teams play AT W&L on Wednesday at the same time in the same venue. Something in the gray matter of my brain recalls jknezek mentioning separate men's and women's courts there at some point. I guess this must be the season that happens. Will this be the new pattern for schools with both gender's hoops teams? Certainly makes sense from a travel and timing standpoint. From a W&L fan viewing standpoint, however, it forces a choice.

There is room for 2 courts in the Tennis Center. No idea if that is what they are doing or why. As far as I know, the main gymnasium is still under reconstruction until after the season. The new gym complex will have multiple courts but I don't think one will be men and the other women. It's possible, but I think it is more one stadium court and the other for club/intramural/rec use. I'll see if I can dig out the master plan tonight to check.

Both games list the tennis center. It'll be interesting to see what the plan is.

Different nights, women on Tuesday, and men on Wednesday.

^^^ That makes more sense. I guess I misread the schedule on the R-MC athletics homepage, which is entirely possible at my age -- unless they changed it. ;D

No. They changed it sometime late last night. I looked a few times and they were listed as the same date. Must have been a typo in the master schedule and both schools just copied it over and finally corrected it.

^^^ Thanks. Nice to know I haven't lost all powers of observation. Also suggests that comments here get noticed and, when called for, acted upon.

Quakers win on Sunday, 67-50.  It was actually a pretty good game with Guilford pulling away late.  Liam Ward with 19 and Kyler Gregory with 16 for GC.  Ricardo Bullock with 19 for the Bishops ... he scored the first 12 for NCWC, but was held in check the rest of the game.  Guilford improves to 3-1 and faces Averett in Greensboro on Tuesday.  I believe NC Wesleyan falls to 0-3.

Averett at Guilford originally scheduled for Tuesday has now been rescheduled for Wednesday, November 20 at 7 pm.  I do not know why.

Roanoke might be looking at a rebuilding year. Lost to Methodist, who isn't good. They narrowly beat Ferrum and H-SC but got their brains beat out by Lynchburg. Just took a double-digit loss to Pfeiffer, who also isn't good. H-SC even kept it within single digits in a game with over 200 points scored, as opposed to a 132-point game for Roanoke. Pfeiffer lost handily to Virginia Wesleyan and got manhandled in the second half by Lynchburg. Their early showings certainly aren't reflective of a team that was picked to finish top four.

After comparing some scores how good is VA wesleyan? Saw they beat Pfeiffer by 50. Roanoke and HSC lost to Pfeiffer and Lynchburg struggled with them. Also interesting that the Steward kid is not on the roster for VA Wesleyan.. Maybe he transferred D2 or D1? interested to see how this season plays out. I will be at the VA Wesleyan and Salisbury game next week

Came here to report this game thanks for beating me to it. Like I said earlier this year, I saw nothing that would make me believe that Roanoke would end up 4th in the ODAC.  RCs best shot is at the middle of the pack this year.  I believe that Guilford, RMC and VWU are the top tier teams after that the odac is a toss up.

Looks like Steward tore his ACL last year and is expected to be back on the court sometime in December. That will add quite a bit of depth to the line up if he is able to return to prior form.

While a 23 point R-MC halftime lead over W&L felt good, by no means did the way the Generals played in the first half make it seem that the Jackets would walk away with the game. Eight minutes into the second half the Generals had cut the lead to eight. The Jackets built it back to 17 before collecting the 11 point win. It was really tough defense early, that the Generals seemed unprepared for, that made the most difference. Jackets had 10 steals in the first half, only two in the second half. A really good game. W&L's announcers are terriffic. Great analysis.

Final in Greensboro:  Guilford 76 (4-1), Averett 61 (2-2)

After a relatively close first 15 minutes, Guilford began to pull away from a very physical Cougars squad coached by former VWC great David Doino.

GC won most statistical categories, but AU did pull out a 43-39 rebounding edge.  Ward (17), Gregory (15) and transfer Davis (23) led the Quakers while the Cougars got 16 and 18, respectively, from Henry and Jones.  Guilford was a fairly efficient 25/52 FGs, 5/10 3FG and 21/28 FTs while Averett struggled at 25/70, 6/30 and 5/14.

Quakers face a 3-1 Berry team on Saturday who also lost to common opponent Emory, 99-85.  No real offense intended, but a couple of cupcake home tournament wins over the weekend vs Warren Wilson and Bob Jones in addition to an opening win over USASAC member Huntingdon.
