Roanoke beats Stevenson University in a close one 54-44 today. They will play for the Cregger Invitational championship tomorrow at 2.  All ODAC teams that played today, besides Emory and Henry won. (Ferrum, Hampden Sydney, Guilford, Virginia Wesleyan, and Randolph Macon)

And just like that H-SC has exceeded last year's win total. Pretty impressive job thus far by Kimbrough given the lack of depth due to players quitting in the offseason. At least a couple could have potentially been difference makers based on the way the current talent is getting utilized and maximized.

HSC had just 7 turnovers against a full-court pressing team that came into the game 8-1 (including a 13-point win over Lynchburg).  Jake Hahn and Ryan Clements have been in the top 5 in turnovers in the ODAC, but yesterday they combined for 14 assists and no turnovers.  This team is clearly improving...but league play is typically tougher.  Stay tuned.

Only 9 team turnovers today as well. Certainly looks like they are starting to figure things out. A 5-game win streak now, which is more games than they won all last season

R-MC survives against Rowan 73-66. Rowan was very disruptive defensively. Early in the game the Jackets had problems scoring, even when getting the shots they are used to getting. First Jacket lead was 39-38 on a three pointer by Josh Talbert at the buzzer before halftime. Earlier they had trailed by 10 a couple of times. In the second half the Jackets got a couple of six point leads but couldn't extend beyond that. Rowan took a one point lead 63-62 with 1:46 left. A jumper by Corey Bays gave the Jackets a one point lead, then Anthony stripped the ball from the hands of a Rowan player that bounced to Bays who hit Ian Robertson with a long pass for a layup that gave R-MC a three point lead with a minute left. Rowan was then forced to foul and the Jackets made 7 of 8 free throws to get the win.

The other ODAC Top 25 team, #21 Guilford, downed #2 Emory by one point. Congrats. They had lost to Emory by 22 in the first game of the season for both teams.

According to the R-MC announcers, all other ODAC teams won today.

Final in ATL:  #21 Guilford 70, #2 Emory 69

Exciting finish to say the least.  GC trailed 48-57 with about 6 minutes to go, but kept plugging.  GC took a 67-66 lead on a Kyler Gregory inside basket with 14 seconds remaining before EU's Romin Williams hit a long three with three seconds left to go up 69-67.  This appeared to ice it as the Quakers had no time out, but Jaylen Gore hit a running three-pointer at the buzzer for the win.  Now 10-2, Guilford avenged a season-opening loss to the previously undefeated Eagles in Greensboro back in November.

Yay, just yay!

I concur with Y_Jack_Lok.... we didn't play our best today but got it done .... Rowan had a lot of shots going in today that probably don't usually go for them but give them credit.... they had us on the ropes !! Good teams pull tough games out.... Today was test #1 in a tough spot

Thanks, but nothing compared to the Quakers' win. A good day to be an ODAC fan.

I've never been to a game at HSC and was looking forward to a Saturday afternoon contest after years of the GC/HSC games always being on Wednesday night ... until my daughter-in-law told me my twin grandsons have their very first game tomorrow at 12:15 about an hour west of Winston-Salem.  C'est la vie.  Go Quakers!

R-MC 93 - E&H 60. Apparently the Wasps are playing without their two leading scorers. I didn't catch everything the announcers said about why, but at least one is due to injury. Together they had been scoring 35 pts a game for E&H. Jackets were 40 of 65 from the field for 61.5% including 10 of 20 three pointers. Freshmen Josh Talbert (16 pts) and Miles Mallory (14 pts) were the Jackets' leading scorers, with three others in double figures.

I'm sure hasanova didn't even think twice about seeing his grandsons play over a trip up to H-SC, and he's probably doubly glad given that the Tigers upset the Quakers 54-52. I tried to catch the end of that game but tuned in too late. Instead I heard the announcers do their wrap-up while watching coaches Kimbrough and Palombo engage in a friendly chat on the court. Would have been interesting to hear what they were saying to each other. H-SC has now won six in a row.

All the other games seem to have been pretty close: Lynchburg upsets VWU 76-74 at home, SU wins at home over Randolph 71-65, BC over Ferrum 88-83 at BC, and Roanoke wins on the road at EMU 63-60 in OT. W&L was idle.

VWC also loses to Lynchburg by 2..... BIG WIN for the HSC TIGGERS!! We wished that they would be better..... be careful what u wish for!!! Now they SCARE ME!!
