eh..kid.. I believe you missed one of mr_divacs picks last night as I had him at 3-1...He picked Mennonite to win as the "bold" was on the EMU side on not onthe Roanoke side...or at least as I saw it...so "officially" he'll go down as 3-1. Other than that you hit it on the head...maybe time to pass the torch  :)

Let's see..... Lynchburg shot the ball 49 times and made 12, 3 of 13 from 3 point nirvana, and 7-14 from free throw land. Not to mention the 41 to 27 rebounding disadvantage. My God, Scottie.... what's going on?

Beat's me. The past 2 years the offense has at least produced to a small degree. If you were at the game, what do you think was the problem?

One of the most interesting things from the HSC/Guilford box score is that all five of the Tiger starters played over 30 minutes.  Only 2 other Tigers had over 10 minutes.

Tigers had a balanced attack, with all of the starters in double figures, Kaase leading the way with 21 points.  Green had 15 points, a career-high seven rebounds, and six assists.  The Tigers shot lights-out, hitting 51% of their shots, including 10 of 17 from behind the arc.  If they had only hit their free throws as well as Guilford did .... The Tigers were 13 of 26 from the line, while the Quakers were 16 of 19.

I'm sorry I wasn't able to make it down on a Wednesday evening and regret that the game at Guilford is ALWAYS on a Wednesday evening.  It was fun to see the fieldhouse back in September, when I was down for the football game.

Charmed life?  I was not there, so I cannot comment on the Coach Polambo technical or its validity.  But, a quick look at the box score shows more than you are going to admit altogether or were not willing to at the time of your post:

1.  H-SC placed all 5 starters in double figures
2.  H-SC shot over 50%, GC shot less than 40
3.  H-SC shot 10-17 (58.5%) from 3-land
4.  H-SC shot 13-26 on FT (score could have been worse)

I know GC shot only 19 free throws, but how many of those that the Tigers shot were late in the game when the Quakers had to foul?

Seems like to me that the team who should have won the game did.  The Tiger's lead went up to 14 (about 7:30 left) after the technical.  Again, not there, so can't comment.  But, the Tigers held a comfortable lead for about 4 minutes until they obviously started playing the clock.

As for Ben Strong, 7-19 is not that good.  He did go 9-9 from the line, which is great for anyone, but especially him.  But, I will admit, 23 points, 12 rebounds, and 2 blocks is a hell of a game.

Hmm, unless mr_divac emailed you something else, it looks like below he picked E&H, GC, R-MC and RC.  He misbolded the RC/EMU game, but the code is around "Macon. Roanoke," so I just assumed he meant to bold Roanoke:

Emory & Henry @ Washington & Lee
Hampden-Sydney @ Guilford.
Lynchburg @ Randolph-Macon.
Roanoke @
Eastern Mennonite.

You can't see it, but the code version of above looks like:

Lynchburg @ >Randolph->Macon.
Roanoke @ Eastern Mennonite.

hmmm...well this is best left to the big man himself...so what was the choice Genaro? The Maroons or the Mennonites... I'll take your word on this one!

By the way I think I might might have mis-bolded about 25 of my picks this year already. Any repreive available there?  ;D

hey...not a computer guru here..very VERY far from it...so I cannot look at the post and determine his intent...so I'll throw it out to the board...below are the options (remember vote early and vote often) ;D

Choices:
A. his intent was RC
B. his intent was EMU
C. let mr_divac NOW determine his intent
D. Leave it up to the board
E. throw out the pick altogether
F. who cares?
G. why are you bothering me with this nonsense
H. geez he's still listing choices? ::)
I. ban "Eh...Kid" for eternity for even attempting to question the
            abacus. ;)
J. Ban > for eternity plus 3 weeks (just because it has a nice
ring to it) and give every guru 10 extra points and re-
          state "kid" 2 days later  :D             .
K. all of the above

I go with choice E. It penalizes Genaro for not making his picks properly, and causing him to possibly lose a critical point would send a message to other pickers to make sure that they make their picks properly! It also takes care of the risk of Genaro saying he meant to pick EMU in the event that he actually meant to pick Roanoke. It would end any speculation of what the real pick was. And what if you let him determine what his real pick was and he does pick EMU when he really meant to pick Roanoke? What if he ends up winning the pick'em contest by one point? Would you be prepared to handle a recount or even willing to have a recount, steely?? We have moonpies and RCs on the line here, we cant risk having such controversy!!!  :D

I can always claim hanging chad's, right? I have added another choice to the above ...just to UNITE the Guru's...!

Ask mr_divac.  He's a class act and should not be penalized for misuse of [ b]'s and [ /b]'s.

Besides, if history is any indicator, it might be only a Dr. Pepper that is on the line ....

mybleedinghands

even though we struggled on the offensive end, the defense has been performing well here recently. we held Macon to only 59 points, which is 14 points below their overall average before the game, and they had 18 turnovers. They did a much better job guarding the three pointer this time, holding macon to only 6 makes in 18 attempts, with 5 of the makes being in the first half. Also held Hawley to to 5 points and 4 shot attempts. We also did a much better job defensively against GUilford the second tiem around. They only shot 41.3% overall and we held ben strong to 5-14 shooting. In the first halfa gainst Roanoke we held them to 26.7% shooting overall and 22.2% from 3 point land. They shot 40% overall in the game. Now maybe the offensive woes can be taken care of with time and effort put into the offensive end of the floor without taking away from the defensive end, maybe we'll start to get wins again.

Nice to see the Tigers finally had a good offensive performance with all five starters scoring in double figures. Hopefully they are coming out of their slump. They'll be tested again saturday nite up in Harrisonburg. It will be interesting to see how they play against EMU. For having witnessed the first EMU
I think alot of the matchups favor HSC. Good luck to all this coming weekend !!!
