A tough win for R-MC tonight. Wesley's Brian Cameron is quite a player with 34 points and making some amazing shots, both long range and under the hoop. He kind of overshadowed his teammate Derick Charles who had 17 points, hitting all seven of his field goal attempts and 2 of 4 free throws. Buzz and Miles had big games for the Jackets making 13 of 17 field goals between them. Jacket depth was also key providing 24 points and 52 minutes off the bench to only one bench point and 20 minutes for Wesley. Congrats R-MC. Survive and advance.

I'd like to know what happened late in the game on that rebound that resulted in technical on each team, especially while the officials were sorting it out. Something unusual had to go down for Coach Merkle to have the team leave the floor without shaking hands after the game.

A couple of asides. The announcers said that one of Wesley's players was a high school teammate of Corey Bays. And while watching the Nebraska Wesleyan/Webster game I caught several glimpses of former Jacket Chris Hamilton who is an assistant at NWU.

I can tell you Coach Merkle wasn't very happy with the officiating, and neither was anyone else in the gym..... I don't know what conference the NCAA got them from but they were awful.... that being said, it was getting pretty "sporty" underneath and the officials were losing control and seemed at odds with each other  on some calls.... we should have beaten them by much more- we weren't our usual selves from 3 point land plus that Cameron kid is the real deal! He made a good amount of shots that made everyone in the crowd just stop and watch..... he's phenomenal! All in all a "Survive and Advance" game but even us alumni were kind of surprised when they went straight to the locker room!! I was in "Section 33" with my Alumni buddies having fun being loud and there was plenty to yell about!! I don't exactly know what happened but for Josh to do that he HAD TO have had good reason!! He's definitely not that kind of guy!

Probably suspended handshake protocol due to the virus outbreak. I know of at least one D1 conference that won't be doing it for the duration of their league tournament.

^^^ I hope you are right about that.

I was involved with the ACC women's tournament in Greensboro and didn't get to watch, but congratulations to the RMC men on their win over Wesley.  With luck, I'll get to check in on the Jackets and TCNJ tonight!

y_Jack_lok- sadly it isn't..... word I got from some other members of the brotherhood this am who should know was that it got a little too testy and Josh was NOT happy.... and also that it wasn't the first ... and more specifically it was more than one- time that that kid #0 had been ejected for unsportsmanlike play..... We just got Myles back from an injury..... we didn't need another one at a time in the game that it was basically over to begin with.......... Come into our house and BEAT US is one thing.... we don't have to tolerate that crap..... and the officials weren't helping the situation any either. I expect a much cleaner game tonite.... Good Luck to both teams and lets play HARD but clean!!

The AEC championship was one of the more physical games I've seen in a while.  Wesley was definitely going to need to press that advantage to stay close.

There is a HUGE difference in PHYSICAL and Dirty! What we witnessed at the end of the game last night was NOT physical play.... That was a textbook Flagrant II  if there ever was one! We can play physical with the best of them.... but we will ALWAYS play with CLASS!

Congratulations to the RMC men on advancing to the Sweet 16,  I watched from the point they were trailing 47-48.  The Yellow Jackets certainly finished strong!

Get ready for a late tip next weekend.  Yeshiva is coming to town and they'll probably be bringing a big crowd, seeing as how they didn't get to attend any games this weekend.  I'm going to do my best to get down there for it.  Best defense in the country vs one of the very best offenses.

It was another tough win for R-MC tonight. Three point shooting and free throws kept TCNJ in the game for the first 30 minutes. The Jackets were finally able to get some separation with their first double digit lead on a three by Buzz Anthony with about nine minutes to go. They built the lead to 16 over the next five minutes. TCNJ cut it to eight before the Jackets closed it out. On the night TCNJ got 55 of its 71 points on threes and FTs. They only had eight made two pointers on 22 attempts. Seemed like they weren't playing to score inside much. Any number of times their guards got into the lane and had what looked to me like openings to the basket, but they would dribble out and pass the ball, I guess hoping for an open three -- which they got and made plenty of (9 of 12) in the first half. Jackets defended TCNJ's three good three point shooters better in the second half, but they still made a respectable 38.5% (5 of13). Failure to make two pointers was their undoing, it seemed. Buzz Anthony, Miles Mallory and Ian Robertson scored 61 of R-MC's 85 points.

Ryan, I know you have been a believer in Yeshiva from the beginning of the season. Any more thoughts you have are welcomed and appreciated.

I think it's a pretty favorable matchup for Yeshiva.  Obviously there are easier opponents than RMC, but the Jackets aren't quite as big as they might've been other years, which will benefit Yeshiva.  The Macs have a very efficient offense and I think they'll be able to get their shots.  Big question for Yeshiva, as it has been all year, is whether they can maintain proper defensive intensity for 40 minutes.

RMC is successful making opponents take second and third (and fourth) choice shots on offense.  I'm just not sure Yeshiva has any of those.  Their motion and ball movement is very tough to defend.  One advantage for RMC is that Yeshiva didn't see Johns Hopkins tonight.  Josh Loeffler is a master of defensive game planning and not having to fight through whatever he would've drawn up might make it more difficult for them to adjust to whatever Merkel throws at them.

I think the sky's the limit for both teams, and I could see it going either way.  It'll be a true test, for sure.  I really hope to be there.

Thanks, Ryan and Pat. Yeshiva coming to R-MC for a 2:00 in the afternoon game on Friday the 13th.

Ryan's really high on Yeshiva...they've had a great season, but they're strength of schedule is really bad...if they beat Macon in Crenshaw, I'll be a believer.
