Everyone's making hay of the UMU-JCU game tonight; I think Guilford-HSC is also a Top 10 matchup.  Excited to see it!

While watching the RMC/AU game, I was wondering,  does AU have the nicest gym in the ODAC?

It's definitely attractive and spacious, but I always wonder what gyms like that feel like for the players (visiting players especially) to play in with a significant amount of empty space behind the baskets.

After a very competitive first half, the R-MC offense got going in the second half for a comfortable 86-48 win.

My wife and I were watching last night and she said the same thing! It does look nice- reminds me of the Freeman Center at CNU( except CNU usually has A LOT more fans!) After it got ugly in the 2nd half I started watching the Guilford-HSC game- what a great game! I really cant say how it looked the entire game because I only saw part of it but the Tigers look like a force to be reckoned with! The students are back and they made a lot of noise last night, also! It also seemed to get a little chippy- at least in the 2nd half- and the officials almost let it get away from them for a moment there. Guilford looked like they just couldnt find the basket at times and the Tigers made them pay, at least in the time I watched it! Setting up to be a GREAT ODAC Tournament!!

Do you mean the nicest gym that's not currently having its wet floor reconstructed?

The Cregger Center at Roanoke had a leak; they're currently playing in the old gym.  I think their facility is pretty spectacular.  I've only seen it from the outside (and photos), but the new one at Shenandoah is pretty impressive, too.

I'm pretty sure Roanoke was first, but the order doesn't really matter.

I'm pretty sure Roanoke was first, but the order doesn't really matter.

Both Cregger Invitational games were played at the Cregger Center this season, as well as Roanoke's home game on January 4, 2023.  Roanoke's move to the Bast Center took effect with their home game on January 14, 2023.

I first heard about the pipeburst in the Paulson Center (181 Mercer Street, Manhattan) basement in person from NYU women's basketball head coach Meg Barber when both NYU basketball teams were playing at Brandeis on
Saturday, January 7, 2023 in the first day of UAA play-- although I cannot confirm when the pipeburst took place, I have heard unofficially through secondhand sources that the pipeburst at NYU happened around mid-December, 2022, about the same week as the Paulson Center was officially dedicated.

As a result of NYU's pipeburst, NYU basketball games at the Paulson Center have been delayed from January 20, 2023-- which was the scheduled first home game doubleheader to be played at the new facility, until the beginning of the 2023-2024 season.  UAA basketball at the Paulson Center is now scheduled to start on Saturday, January 11, 2024, with Brandeis playing at NYU on that day.

The order of the leaks doesn't really matter, though....

Was not aware of the Cregger Center, or based on my age, maybe I just forgot!  Based on the photos, the Cregger Center looks to be in a league of its own within the ODAC.  Ironically, the defending national champion plays in one of the oldest and smallest venues in the ODAC.

Yeah Macon but it sure does get LOUD in there and we have a distinct "HOME COURT ADVANTAGE" when playing in Crenshaw Gym because of the students and also "The Crenshaw Crazies" which I have happily been a part of whenever I can get up to Ashland for a game! There's PLENTY of $$$ within the basketball "family" of Alumni but I really don't think there's that much push for a newer bigger facility- In fact- the basketball alumni family is raising funds to renovate the Mens locker room facilities in Crenshaw. I could be wrong, but I don't think there will be a push for a new gym anytime soon.I think the basketball alumni family is happy with the traditions and history we have with Crenshaw Gym! Kind of like a mini Cameron Indoor Stadium!

'82, totally agree.  I'd not support a new venue either, as you've said, I prefer an action packed environment.  I wonder if many of these larger ODAC facilities have ever had a basketball sellout.  RMC has a couple sellouts every season, with NCAA playoff games always a sellout.  HSC and VWU have historically been good draws, but for the last several years not so much at HSC (and probably VWU as well).  For example, last year at HSC, you're playing your rival who's #1 and the place is half empty (and the students were in session, unlike this year).  As to Crenshaw renovations (as you know), the construction of Duke Hall for field sports allows space for enlarged basketball and volleyball updates to locker rooms.  I was a contributor to the last Crenshaw update with new lighting and bleachers.  You'll also find my name on plaques at Brock Center and Estes Park.  With Duke Hall finished, the next building project is on the academic side, not yet announced.

This is true.  It's nice to see the old gym being used again but it looks so outdated compared to the Cregger Center.  In other news Roanoke plays #25 Hampden Sydney tomorrow.  We're 0-3 against ranked teams this year.....
