The Quakers trailed Lynchburg 31-27 late in the first half, but tied it at 31 at the break.  I know Guilford led by 21 or so a couple of times in the 2nd half, so maybe Tom (Palombo) had an inspired halftime message.  We have Ferrum at home Wednesday and then welcome RMC to Ragan-Brown for a doubleheader.

Beware of Ferrum. They aren't deep, but they have the #1 and #4 scorers in the conference and gave H-SC a good game yesterday.

I know.  They've upset us before.   A classic trap game.

Reading all the other prognosticators who know way more about this stuff than I do...

Sounds like, as of today, H-SC is a pretty safe bet for a Pool C bid. Numbers seem to indicate they'll be the #3 team in the regional rankings coming out this week.

ODAC should get at least 3 teams (RMC, HSC, Guilford) in the tourney this year.  Man my maroons got whipped on Saturday.  Here's hoping RC can beat VWU on Saturday and can make a run in the tourney next week.

Not sure how GC is ranked higher than HSC.  I'm surely no fan of HSC, but they deserve a higher ranking.  HSC beat #3 CNU, 2 of 4 losses to #2 RMC, and a head to head win over GC, so what gives.  Now, if GC wins Saturday,  then maybe a higher ranking is earned next week, but not this week.  However,  I do predict that HSC will have a higher regional ranking later this week.

One voter actually dropped H-SC four spots this week because they struggled a bit with Ferrum.

Mind you the same guy put Macon #1 after it required Averett blowing a somewhat open layup to give Macon a chance to win at the buzzer in Asheville

And for no explicable reason dropped Guilford four spots.

And only dropped Washington (Mo.) two spots despite losing by 13 at NYU

And bumped Tufts from unranked to #22 despite losing to an unranked, though admittedly good, Wesleyan team at home that didn't receive a single vote last week for top 25.

It will be interesting to see where the NCAA places H-SC and Guilford in relation to one another when they release the regional rankings tomorrow.

I agree with Macon.....HSC will be higher than GC THIS WEEK......if GC wins Saturday vs our Jackets they will vault over HSC and into the #3 spot. just my 2 cents..... ;D :P ???

From the look of this regional ranking the game this weekend AND the ODAC tournament will be HUGE for Guilford. I expected them higher than #6. I think HSC should get a bid regardless, barring an implosion this week and in the tournament. If all goes as it should( and we all know the tournament can produce CRAZY results sometimes)the semifinal matchup between HSC and Guilford will also be HUGE for the Quakers....There is, however MUCH basketball left to be played before that happens and WHO KNOWS what the future will bring?? ??? ???

^^^82, great analysis.  I, too, expected GC to be higher, at #4 or #5.  Also, expected HSC at #3, but I'm assuming the H2H with CNU was a tie breaker.  Overall, good news for ODAC with 4 out of 7 ranked teams.  At #6, GC probably needs to beat RMC or HSC, or probably both.  I'm assuming HSC is in regardless, so pulling for GC (except against my RMC) to get that 3rd team into the NCAAs.

Guilford and HSC both got their 20th wins tonight (20-4).  I really don't mind RMC and HSC being ahead of GCQ in the regional rankings, but Emory bugs me a bit.  The Eagles are 15-7 and the Quakers beat them by 15 in Atlanta.

BTW, the Guilford women are 20-4 also, so the two hoops squads are 40-8 (.833).  Not too shabby.

It appears that the NCAA folks gave a lot of weight to strength of schedule when it came to making a decision about where to rank Emory and Guilford. Emory's SoS is .615 and Guilford's is .522.

Also interesting that Emory's SoS is higher than R-MC's (.586), but R-MC's record against regionally ranked teams is 8-1 vs 3-6 for Emory. And, of Course, R-MC's winning percentage is much higher.
